Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

This.
Everyone should read this and move on with their misery.
We wanted Frost gone. Just like we wanted Watts and Hogan gone. Make no mistake, we don’t lose players we want to keep because of money. We can afford to pay. We just choose not to.

I was told at the midpoint of the season we would delist him if no takers.
This is a big win.

Thanks EO ...just calling that deal as i see it.  Others including yourself will no doubt be ecstatic and others on the fence.  That's life!

Will be keen to watch 42 and 50 move with academy picks. If they end up at a similar value then I don’t mind this trade.

I hate the idea of betting on the Hawks having a bad year next year.

If we just did Frost for 50 and kept 42 it might’ve worked out better.

Looking at the pick values and expected ladder positions we are getting about pick 50 for Frosty. Personally I would much rather have Frost, but considering that we are pushing him out the door that's really all we could expect.

We are making a big bet on two players (Lever not key position IMO and May) that have spent very little time out on the ground - hope they can play most games next year otherwise I'm not sure our back line stocks are that flash

Perhaps the club rates Petty as a better 2 to 3 year prospect than Frost - OMac well the least said the better

You probably said the same with Howe and Dunn.

Amazing that when they play really good footy at the new destination, or assume prime leadership positions (when we are apparently rudderless (Lewis need)), it is that the player changed; not that they necessarily had it in them when they were here.

Your posting style has an eerie similarity to Donald Trump's  tweeting style.

And the similarities don't end there......

Meh. If I had played the best season of my career and hadn't been offered a contract (or decent one) and knew I was leaving I'd probably be pretty [censored] off with the club.

Absolutely. Me too.

Would you broadcast that frustration with complete strangers?

If true a very dumb thing to do on Frost's part.

Hawks have the brain power to know how to use speed to advantage and cover poor disposal skills. Frosty will do well for them, flanked by runners able to receive a short kick or handball and move the ball forward with precision.

Regrettably, our backline and forward line lack any "connection" so the line breaker was required to fulfil other roles as well. For Frosty, that was asking too much of him, and too little of others. He is no star, but a very useful soldier, now gone.

Meanwhile we have back line list with cloggers to spare, who offer not a lot. One whom particular, who can now  breathe a tremendous sigh of relief.  I wonder who?

It's the Melbourne way

Having met Sam at many functions,  he wanted to stay and was deemed not good enough.

I wish Sam the best and expect him to perform one role, his role,  much better in a more cohesive structure.

What's done is done, so l will move on, just hoping that over summer new coaching staff can bring in fresh ideas to use the talent we have and build a plan around it.  Not the other way around.

Only one winner out of this trade.

Hawthorn continue to excel during the trade & draft periods. Very excited for Sam as I think he will thrive under Clarkson & the well regarded Hawks culture.

Not sure what the MFC list managers & coaches were thinking. Just dumb.....

I very much doubt Freo takes a future second rounder valued at roughly 45 to 50 for Langdon.  They might take it as 'part of' the deal.  Get serious guys.  This was a loss whichever way you cut it in terms of what isn't coming back.

At the very least should have got a mid to late 30s pick in this draft and, barring that, Gunston as part of the shitty trade we agreed to.  Top 10 in the B&F and we let him go for nix!

Hawthorn have bent us over on this one.

Bingo.

100% disagree that we have not done well in this deal. it is clear we wanted him out. Just as we wanted Watts out. I was dead against that deal but acknowledged that i didn't have all the information as to what the real reasons were for that decision.

I don't rate frost very highly, certainly nowhere near Watts, though i like him a player and have nothing against him.

Yes he made top 10 in the bluey, but please he only juts made the top 10 and how could he fail not to to given he played very game in season where we finished 17th, were ravaged by injury (particularly down back) and almost every player on the list  played a game.

But in any case I'm guessing  (and only guessing) the reason for wanting him out is related to culture more than ability. Yes i'm partially basing that on isolated recent comments in this thread (that i have no reason to doubt given i trust the posters based on their history) but the club has made it abundantly clear it had no intention of keeping him. He was always 100% Maxy gawn.

In that context we have done well to get some value out of the deal.

You only have to look at the situation with Jenkins and the crows to see what can happen when it is clear a player in on the outer. It's a bit different because Jenkins has made it clear he wants out and the relationship seems to have completely broken down. But it is analogous in so far as in both circumstances the club want both players out the door.

No one would suggest Frost is better, more valuable player than Jenkins, yet i guarantee we will get more from the respective trades than the crows will. For Pete's sake the crows will have to pay some of his salary to get him out the door.

Can someone please tell me where I am misreading this situation:

1. We made a preliminary final in 2018 with Frost & McDonald in the key defensive posts, both of whom (according to Demonland experts) are apparently so useless they are not worthy of being on an AFL list.

2. Despite paying roughly $1.5M to Lever & May in 2019, neither played a full game before round 12 and both were either injured or incompetent for most of the remainder of the season. Lever, in addition to his woeful B&F result, played in a grand total of zero wins for the year.

3. Frost played every game for the year, finishing top 10 in the B&F, in a career best season. He was our best defender by the length of the Bathurst straight.

4. We keep May & Lever and their big fat contracts, and resign such luminaries as Josh Wagner, but can't find the money and list space to keep Frost.

You couldn't make this stuff up if you tried.

FFS what a farcical trade. Pick 50 for a bloke that played EVERY GAME Gee he must of been really Sheeeit to have played EVERY GAME. MFC NO IDEA.

Just watch his replacement Oscar totally towel up all commers

Sheeit NOT HAPPY! Watch him Really Blossom next year. Clarko will turn him into a terrific player.

Hawks and the other 16 clubs must be lauging their heads of with our list decisions!!

Simply put, in Frost we've lost a player in an area of the ground where we have some coverage - Hore, Petty and yes, McDonald. Even Hunt if you want a runner off half back
We've picked up a player in Langdon who plays in an area of the ground where we've been hopelessly deficient

On balance, that works for me

I like Frosty but I recognise his shortcomings. While he's whole hearted & has some good attributes, it ain't like we've just given up a Glen Jakovich for minimum chips

The only thing I can think of Poita is that Frosty is not one of Goody's boys.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
