Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

One thing I was surprised at was that goody never experimented with a set play of frosty taking a kick out, playing on and running for the 20 metres that gift them and roosting a torp 60 metres down the ground to a predertimined area (a predetermined spot would be a tad optimistic) to say maxy. That would get the ball well over half way.

I said the very same thing here last night ... do what you do,  do well (and all that)

Team rules should always carry nuance when factoring in players strengths and weaknesses

For instance,  Robbie Flower's long handball to position probably wouldn't suit Goodwin's style.  But it is a weapon rarely seen in today's rigid style of football

Goodwin needs to let the players show their individual traits.

Hardwick now lets his players play.  And it all fits together well.

Get it right

Had his best year and continues to improve

run and carry

played all 22 games

fit and firing

9th in B&F

Fastest player on our list (2nd fastest in AFL...?)

Destroys key forwards in match ups (completely shut down Ben Brown in round 23)

26 year old

Sure had some clangers but not alone there

but we don’t even offer a contract !!! Ridiculous

No wonder he is talking and walking to elsewhere

Could not agree more

Club will look like idiots again

Funnily enough tigers are using the really long handball to clear an area quite a bit.

Robbie was beautiful hand baller wasn't he. On both sides. What a player.  With his skills and running ability would thrive in today's footy.

I'm a betting man. And i'm willing to be that some DL posters are more likely to look like idiots again (not you Kent).

Actually what i'll bet is that some DL posters will take any frost highlight for the rest of his career as proof positive we made a howler in trading him and Hawks are genius. And hawk fans who watch him week in and week and out will weep at recruiting Frostball.

That aside I found it stunning that Goodwin quite openly admitted that he didn't coach the fundamentals this season

We're looking for the 'Extra's' and the basics get ignored?

What the hell are we paying the bloke 800k per year to do?  Serious question.

And whatever happened to 'Fearless Football'?  Now sounding a lot like "We'll be the hardest Team to Play Against'

Feels like ground hog day here replace Frosts name with Watts, Silvia, Travis Johnstone or woewodin and it’s the same discussion, other than Stef Martin and Howe I can’t think of a single player in the last 20 years I regret losing, and I don’t think we had a choice with the last 2

Problem is, he is worth more than 47 but not worth pick 27.. he is an early 30s pick.

Maybe you are right Bin but I have seen enough to give him the benefit of more development as compared to others being kept on the list ANB good grief. How could any sane coach continue to play Oscar instead of Frost says it all really.

Goodwins' stubborn view won't let him reconsider Frost as he marked his card very early.

Anyway I guess all will be revealed next season

Did anyone watch this year? Frost had some clangers. But others were as bad!  How does ANB get a new contract?

Did anyone watch Frost beat Riewoldt, Josh Kennedy Naughton Ben-Brown Franklin this year. Players who usually kick a bag on us.

Yet Oscar McDonald gets goal after goal scored on him and is slow and ineffective.  Sure Oscar does not get clangers and thats because he does not get the ball and when he does it’s a 12 metre pass sideways.

Goodys losing me with his decisions

That’s an interesting perspective. I’ve tried to think of more players, but I’m a little stumped. Had Jesse Hogan reached a new level this year, he might have been a contender. Alas, he did not.

this gives me the same feeling as Martin to Brisbane. He gave a point of difference, great athlete who was not great with ball in hand but was getting better. Back then I hoped we got a second rounder, then gave him off voluntarily for a pack of twisties. big mistake.

at least play hard ball. we played a second rounder when he was untried, now hes worth a second rounder which is speculative anyway. otherwise no deal.

Reiwoldt was too good for us so not sure. which match ? Franklin was not beaten by Frost.

agree Oscar is just not AFL standard.

Sounds right.

Hawthorn usually get their man and their mantra is to pay unders for him. Same with Geelong.

If you want to win a deal in trade week, Hawthorn would be the last team you’d deal with.

Is it that disrespectful? At the end of the day a lot of our cap has gone to May and Lever. Need to sacrifice somewhere to make changes. If he wants/can get more money elsewhere then good on him

I'm with you & good on Frosty, however, in my opinion his ability is undervalued & more importantly needed, especially after our disastrous year.

Yes, disrespectful to answer your question.....totally. You don't sacrifice a player that is critical to the 6,6,6, set up.

Just stupid.

I  think I have defended Frost more than most over the journey and loved his frenetic runs, I will be sad to see him go.  However sheer speed from the backline is not what we need but rather consistent and reliable ball movement. It's trite to say the ball in the air travels faster than anyone can run. If you look at richmond it was all about ball movement out of defence with kicks that retained possession either directly or to advantage. Frost doesn't fit that bill and if he wants overs then sadly he must go. The additional issue with his runs was he left the defence one short. I think that was the May heated discussion. A clearing kick to advantage leaves the structure intact.

Guess which club would be the first you want to deal with if hunting a "win"......................

Shame we cant trade with ourselves

Your opinion is just an opinion like mine  Im talking about real improvement ! But its ok if you disagree

For your opinion to be credible you need to back it up with reasoning.  Tell how James Harmes hasn't improved since he joined the club?

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
