Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Well, well well.

Clarkson sells us treacle in Lewis.

Then, the best coach in the business wants Frost.

Do the frigging maths MFC.  Getting rid of Watts was supposed to be our panacea.  Now Frost.

Clarko playing us easily.

I think I’m over this basket-case of a club.  Divested.  The simpletons deserve it.  All of it.

Clarkson didn’t sell us Lewis. A three time premiership legend in Lewis chose to come to us.

Clarkson did chase Fitzpatrick though, so that deal is more relevant to your argument.

If any club has played us its Collingwood offloading Lamumba & Dawes and pinching Howe & Dunne.

Melbourne has seriously lowballed the out-of-contract key defender, who looks certain to reject that contract offer and join a third AFL club. It emerged last night that North Melbourne — following Scott Thompson’s retirement — could overtake Hawthorn as a suitor with both clubs targeting key defenders

Typical Melbourne.....one of the only blokes who is a 100m player & whilst his efficiency isn't ideal I love how he takes the game on  attacks from the back half.

Exactly the type of player we need to keep.....we are not going to get extra outside run from Tomlinson.

So true, others such as Lever and Salem gain little distance and sometimes hurt momentum

If it's money and length of contract one would expect North to have more of both

Frosts job is as a 1st or 2nd KPD stopper. Why is it that his 'bonus' attribute of elite speed suddenly is an essential aspect of our back 6 going forward? Other clubs don't demand it of their stoppers. Don't we have Hibberd, Salem and Lever (KK, Wagner etc) as rebounding runners/kickers? If you want more speed out of defence, replace Hibberd. Try Jason Johannisen. If you want a reliable KPD to help May, recruit a KPD primarily to Stop (Like we were apparently reported to be doing with Keath)

At least a bidding war could drive our asking price up.

Keath is an intercepter also and struggles on key forwards (just like Lever).

Salem is not going to run away from a small forward.

Hibberd is the only one who provides genuine run out of your 3 and there are question marks over if he is passed it.

He's 198cm, new to the game and building attributes. If we recruited him, i think we'd be doing it as a utility backman that can hold down defence and go 3rd man up. I don't think we are seeking a key position defender to sprint out of defence and provide us run, it's just a unique 'bonus' quirk of Frosts game, which can also be one of his and our vulnerabilities when it's turned over.

Salem's skill and disposal out of defence helps us find a target and rebound with more care and patience, nothing has changed and you can expect him to have as big an impact next year as he did in 2018 imo.

Not sure why you are talking about keath JD. Salem is a neat but underwhelming player for me.

I'm just suggesting that if Frost were to leave, we wouldn't be seeking a key position defender to replace him with elite burst out of defence (edit: as a key criteria), it would be primarily as a man on man defender, an ability to spoil and a level of skill that he can at least hit a target more times than not by foot. You look for elite speed from your half back flankers like Saad, McKenna, Johanissen.

Yeah I see, I am a Frost fan in that he has some elite attributes, is young, durable and I am not convinced he has been coached well. Hawks are masters at improving the likes of Frost. I go back all the way to playing school footy with Dipper when his main attribute was just a giant punch at the ball and up and under disposal. He became an elite kicker of the ball and a lot more.

I'm not convinced Frost can be coached to be anything more than he currently is, which means he cannot play on a wing, he cannot play up forward or on the ball. He's a defender. A very handy defender, but if he was traded for another key position defender, we haven't lost rebound out of defence, we've lost a player that can keep Brown to 2 goals and limit Hawkins impact in a final quarter - which we would want to replace with another player. If we want rebound out of defence, we should be looking at players than can rotate between wing, midfield and half back, or even half forward, players with skill by foot primarily, and just enough pace to evade a tackle. Players that have the tank to gut run up and down the G and help out their key position defenders who hold the fort/outer rim of press

The issue here is Salem and Jetta are our small defenders who should be giving us the run. They don't generate like other teams runners do, therefore we need players like Frost to help spread the load here or to get rid of Jetta.

I would be super [censored] if Frost goes.

He is just the wildly unpredictable player who becomes both a fan favourite and the type of individual  and a club needs

He is also a rapidly improving weapon.

We cannot afford to lose him as it would just confirm the [censored] club we are descending to

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
