Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Maybe that should be decided by KK and the Doctors not us.

Agree 100%

We paid pratically nothing for KK trade wise and the MFC knew what they were potentially up against when we signed him up.  If KK had have shrugged off these concussion issues, then everyone here would be doing cart wheels.

Just because the punt we took hasn't paid off, then that doesn't mean the MFC should drop KK like a hot spud.  I think it's important that the club maintains support and treats injured players in a respectful manner, as they appear to be doing and personally, I that also extends to us as supporters.

Anyone here see how the Tigers train, and  that they have a near full list to choose from, have something to do with being injury free?

Or is it that they have actually two carefully managed lists of players?  For two separate parts of the season?

If KK was in this position last year we would be looking to add an additional player through the PS supplementary or mid season draft.

This year while we have 13 on the sidelines THIS week, that number only includes 3 or 4 who would ordinarily be in the first 22 and are expected to be back fully fit within 2 weeks or so.

While I hold no great hopes for KK given he hasn't recovered ( not just played) for nearly 12 months, it is a calculated gamble to keep him on the list...any selection to replace him would be unlikely to get a game this year, so why do it?  It is not like last year where Dunkley was slotted in to fill the huge number of gaps we had, and finished playing 5 games.

Similar story to Bennell,  if he comes good fantastic, if they don't then we have 2 gaps in the EOY draft already.

Interesting article in the HUN today about Richmond. They are again starting the year with virtually a full list.

How the hell do they do it?

They don't actually train...just to avoid injury mind you...

They pick good players who are physically and psychologically strong.

That wasn't due to solely to injuries which we are talking about at the moment, also Richmond went thru a period of crap also in the not too distant past, people on this site need to get over the woe is me type of attitude.

We will nearly have our best 22 when we start the year. All other players required have a good base. We just dont hear much about other clubs injuries yet as they probably didnt hear about our bad pre-season last year. hell, neither did I.

I personally suspect without knowing stats, that most bad injuries happen late in the 2nd half of the year or in pre-season. Although we have niggles (according to the club, which cant be trusted to say anything illuminating except propa-gander in this situation), we will go in on-fire. Buy memberships!

I know the Blues and Dons have critical injuries and it sounds like the eagles have a couple of major players that were unable to finish the pre-season. Ben Brown is injured but because of the pay wall I couldnt see too much. KK and Bennell dont worry me now. Im putting on my rose-coloured glasses. I have taken up the 15-1 for the Dees to make the Grand final. And thats a bad omen.

There’s no reason to put him on the LT injury list until we have someone we’d like to place onto the main squad instead.

Its bloody frustrating when you have a club like Richmond who just won the premiership continue to have the mostly blessed run of injuries that they’ve had for a while. Send some luck our way footy gods!!!! ?

agree to keep supporting this young bloke.

he must be in a bad place but should be under no pressure to get back. Keep working on his own mental capability and the light fitness work to keep in good shape

only if he and the doctors make the call to stop, then we can look to the top up process.

  • 2 weeks later...

Four-time premiership Hawk Lewis questioned Kolodjashnij’s future in the game due to the impact on his quality of life.

“Football, I would hope, is so far from his mind. He had days where he couldn’t be exposed to sunlight,” Lewis told SEN on Monday morning.

“If that was me, I would be making a call on my footballing future if I was suffering those types of symptoms.

“I haven’t been exposed to anyone like that. When you see it day to day and you see that he is a really good guy and a happy guy, and you see the emotions that he goes through during the day – he isn’t able to do what he loves doing and he has to be home all the time because he can’t be exposed to light – that’s when it hits you. Is the game worth that?”

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t Lewis involved in a coaching capacity at the club. I understand him giving the world an idea of what KK is going through but surely he shouldn’t be publicly saying anything about his future.

As for KK, I can’t see him stepping out onto a footy field again, obviously we leave it to the doctors and experts to make their decision but jeez even if he recovers from the current symptoms surely the damage done leaves it open for another big hit being one that leaves him with permanent issues.

This club is as weak as [censored] sometimes. I'm absolutely for looking after Kade and his long term health, even though the club didn't do its homework and gave a three year contract to a bloke with significant health issues. But that clearly is not going to be as an AFL footballer, and we need to do what is right for the club.

Let Kade get himself right so that he can live a normal life, give him all the support he needs, but get him off the list and find someone who can help the club in 2020.

KK was at the Arden St game, wearing sunnies but so were most of his team mates. He wandered over to Harmes, ANB and a few others and shook hands like he was just meeting them. Asked Harmes how half back was going. I got the sense he hasn’t been at the club in weeks if not months.

Apart from caring about his health there’s probably injury payments and salary cap consequences that make these things difficult.

We added Lockhart and Dunkley last year and Richo was at the Saints when they put McCartin on the long term list. I question Josh Mahoney as much as most on here but give the guy some credit, they’ll be considering the best options.

You write as if you know the club doesn't have some sort of termination clause in KK's contract should he not be able to play because of concussion.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
