Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Cal Twomey on video from Draft hopefuls training today answering a question about Taj said we would pick 3 players in the draft with Taj at our last pick. He said Taj was around mid 40s.  Its likely the then that we use picks 37 and 49 to move up a bit higher than 37 in the draft. Then use pick 57 plus change for Taj.

Bulliies pick 23 allegedly up for grabs.

Alternatively we may try to move higher than 17 if we have our eye on a player.

The draft for us should be very interesting.

Whatever. I think it has to be done by tomorrow.

Be great to have him onboard with the Mighty Dees - his presence would heal any rift that may have existed with his Dad on departure - more importantly, he may be a really good footballer (from all accounts) just like his old man, Shane, and we could do with some more of that, surely? As an absolute last resort, he'd be a terrific chewy-packet opener for quarter and three-quarter time breaks within the huddle.

Yeah I heard that. He also said Carlton are listening to offers for pick 25.

In the draft combine he was 2nd best in the 20m sprint with a blistering time of 2.89 seconds.
He was captain of East Freo this year which is always a good sign in regards to a players character

Something we know that Jason Taylor, Goodie and Co. value highly and we've seen the rewards of again and again.

Can someone who has watched young Woey more than me explain why he has explosive pace and his bio has a strength being a penetrating kick but an improvement (weakness) hurt factor?

Perhaps it’s because some of the people who prepare these bios don’t really have a clue?

Looking forward to seeing Woey junior at the club, his dad’s departure from the club was a poor one by us and shockingly handled. Hopefully it’s water under the bridge and we get to see a replay of “still Woewodin…kick a goal son!”

Only because I couldn’t find anything on the boards, I’m assuming we have moved on from Kobe Farmer potentially joining the Dees. Did he do anything in the WAFL?

Personally see a lot of Deledio in his kicking and running gait.

Wouldn’t Carlton desperately need pick 25 now that Liam Jones is off the table?

Yes perhaps. Apparently they were in the market for a small forward before Jones left. They might now just use 25 on a defender. Or they might still try to split it and pick up a small forward and defender.
Going by what Richmond paid the pies for pick 27 we don’t have the currency to obtain it anyways.

At best I think if we want to trade up it would be with another club in a better position than us to obtain pick 23 or 25 which would probably mean us paying overs for not a lot. We might be as well to try and trade for a later pick in next years draft.

I really like his upsides, and there are a few of these. In particular, I really like his shots for goal - lengthy, straight as an arrow, great ball spin and wind controls at work, combined with forward leading and position protection against opponents. He also has a bit of height to compete for the marks and taps. Then he has such great pace, take-off, with agile directional variations. I like the lad, more rounded than his dad earlier on, hope he can be navigated into our team.

Woey sounds great and  I hope he has a successful career with the Dees.

My only worry is that no other club? seems interested.

He isn't considered a top player. A bid will likely come after pick 35 and more likely around the 45 mark. Kids predicted to go around this point get very little media attention.

It's worth remembering that there will be about 45 kids who are currently rated better than him and to temper expectations.

If he wasn't a father son then no one on here would be discussing him.

Similar to what happened with Kobe Farmer last year. There was a thread devoted to him since he was 14 years old. As soon as Taylor made the call that he wasn't good enough we all moved on pretty quick to the other new shiny draftees we had picked up.

I think he’s somewhat better than Kobe Farmer who was overlooked by both AFL clubs who could have claimed him as a father-son. Woewodin has been nominated by Melbourne so he’s a bit ahead of where Kobe was last year.

MFC has basically guaranteed he will be on a main list.

They may or may not match a bid, but must take him if no other club bids for him.

Oh I totally agree. I'm just pointing out that we were very excited about Kobe and spoke about him a hell of a lot because his surname was Farmer and not for the level of talent he had.

I am very happy to be picking up Woewodin. His stocks seem to have risen greatly over this year from a kid who would be a late pick/rookie to a captain of his club and a solid player.

Nobody who actually seen him play was excited in anyway about Kobe. I doubt without the lineage he’d even be playing WAFL Colts.

As you acknowledge 2 very different players and I dare say with the WAF Colts, PSA, State games and combine testing Taj has put together over the last 18/20 months a club would have picked him.

Agreed.  Looking forward to Taj joining the Dees and giving it a real crack. Has the base to be a good player.  Skills are there and we can take time to see him develop

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
