Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I texted into SportFM a few months back when they were interviewing Shane and had them ask him how his boys were tracking and if father-son was an option with the Dees. He said only one of the boys is still playing, Taj, and is currently in Year 12 at Aquinas and playing for East Fremantle Colts too (not sure if this is the case still). Said that he isn't pushing his son in any particular direction, but has told him the kind of work needed to make it into an AFL list and the rest is up to him. Certainly didn't rule out the possibility of father-son but didn't mention anything specific about MFC recruiters keeping tabs on him or anything like that.

Reckon we could do worse then draft (maybe rookie) a father son in a year where there's little to no exposed form for the under 18's and it's going to be an even bigger lottery then normal.

That's one way of looking at it. They basically did the dirty on a very talented and loyal player. Tell me how many Demons - apart from Moore and Wilson, both imports - have won a Brownlow. Ok, there's the great Jimma, who else?

Hardly "did the dirty". Woewy's management screwed us into an exorbitant deal for him.  This happened because Farmer had just left for Freo so we couldn't be seen to lose 2 marquee players at once & so paid way over the odds for him.  He was a good solid player who had an outstanding year.  Its a bit like the current Polec situation. If his management had been reasonable he would have played out his career at the Dees.

From Woewodin's and his management's point of view, Melbourne definitely didn't deal with them fairly.

You are spot on. He definitely had his kids in Dees jumpers in a lap of honour at the G.

Yeah vividly remember this. It was sour after he left but time helped in mending the wounds. I also remember reading an interview in The Age towards the end of his last year at Collingwood when they weren't going to renew his contract and he was basically saying how he was super keen on a return to the club and wanted to have a chat with Neale to see how he could fit into the side.

Be a great story but we shall wait and see, East Freo had quite a young Colts side this season but that's common for WAFL clubs to build sides over a 2 to 3 year period and to play a  lot of their younger squad members towards the end of the season.

North Freo had a win in A Grade Elimination final last weekend and come up against CBC Freo in a derby final this week.

Woey's a great bloke and great football person. He's built strong cultures wherever he's been and very professional in his approach. He's not short of job offers and think he may move on at seasons end

And as others have said, time and exposure to the coaching side of the game have helped heal some wounds.

Are the colts going back to U19s next season like the NAB league in Victoria?

Over in the West the lads at PSA are playing every week. Aquinas play this week and a win would have them win the Alcock Cup with Scotch.
I am sure the scouts have monitored PSA and colts. Be interesting if any one knows much. Guildford Grammar have 5-6 lads that would be worth a look in the next few years.

I can't watch that now but my recollection was that we asked him to take a pay cut otherwise we'd need to trade him, he said no, so we did the deal, and he got surprised and said he works have actually taken a play cut if he thought we were serious.

Does that ring true?

Was on the could-a-beens last weekend, coaching North Fremantle in the WA amateurs. They didn't probe him too hard there didn't seem to be any issues. Was enormously thankful for the opportunity Melbourne gave him after missing on 2(?) drafts. Found out on holiday he was traded which he said he didn't see coming. But loved his time at both Melbourne and Collingwood. Seemed like a genuinely nice fella, most guests on the could-a-beens are down to earth they don't stuff around much with the egos. Paul Spargo was another good interview...

How do parents come up with these names ?

Maybe his middle name is Mahal? Why do you ask, Two Dogs?

Anyone know if Taj is eligible for this year's draft or next year?

Also, what's the age of Stynes jnr or White jnr?

Doesn't Jeff White also have a Taj coming through?

I wonder how many we can collect?  (If any)

Yep, and the club are keeping a close eye on this one.

A lot of water still to go under the bridge, but a promising junior so far.

His version is he didn't get a chance to take a cut.
Club said he needed to take a cut, he and his manger were discussing it, manager was putting a proposal together whilst Woey was on the end of season trip, then the club traded him to Collingwood before they had the chance to negotiate.

Daniher says at the end of the vid that the salary cap was so tight, that someone simply had to go and that cutting Woewodin allowed them to keep: Yze, Johnstone and offer contracts to Robertson, Powell, James McDonald and Chris Lamb.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
