Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

But our according to you our facilities are relatively poor - relative to what? Make up your mind.

That would have been, I am not interested in what facilities other Clubs have. Pathetic.

I don’t think it is rubbish at all.

That is how bad 2019 was. How can you look at it any differently. We still don’t really know how well Goodwin can Coach.

Fagan or Goodwin...?

We can't look at it any differently coz you [censored] mention it in every thread

Elliott was available, maybe, we asked he said no, different answer from Tomlinson and Langdon

Same people complaining we missed out would have been complaining had we signed him "overpaid" "injury prone" "Collingwood cast-off" etc etc

It's the nature of the beast, some people just love to complain and this website is evidence of the adage misery loves company. Doesn't matter what happens, whatever happens is evidence of the failure/incompetence of the club

Difference is that there's a general expectation to compete at those clubs. Competitive people often like to be in competitive environments.

The players efforts of 2019 have resigned us to having to build again through the draft (that outcome may not actually be the worst thing). Hopefully we can uncover a couple of people with the kind of drive to compete and show linear type improvement through to their late 20's (and maybe become the second person at MFC to do that since Jones started).

So you see us as a lowly club again next year?

"Resigning us to rebuilding again through the draft" is pure MFCSS and totally not what some commentators are saying about us in 2020

Interesting how we each approach these things.

I see us not as rebuilding, more acknowledging our deficiencies through some trades and pick 3 (or 2 x split picks). With a relatively injury free preseason and a fit list, some added outside skill and a favourable fixture, I expect us to be finalists in 2020.

Yes, we had a very poor 2019, for a variety of reasons. We also had 3 years of improvement before that and reached a preliminary final. We can focus only on the negatives or we can look to improve our list and FD and move on. Doesn't make me a happy-clappy or a wrist slasher. As with most things, the answer lies somewhere between.

But according to you Elliott would have been downgrading. Downgrading from something you have no interest in apparently.

You seem to find it impossible to sustain an idea from post to post.

You can hope that. I think certain players have done exactly that. We were lucky to 5 games, could have easily been 2 games for the year, plus we lost the last 7 coming home. There was no improvement after the bye.

There is no way Player Managers are going to be pushing The MFC as a good destination. It is a great prospect for Assistant Coaches, as a challenge, but i don’t think players would view it that way, not this year. We (the Club) did cause damage this year, there will be ramifications because of it.

It will be a tough 10 days trading for us

Other Clubs just buy up, we are right down the pecking order this year

I hear you SWYL, but it doesn't mean that a decision is based on one year?

That would be churlish

Fair dinkum I'm just about over this site. Are you being serious. The blues and the saints are competitive environments? Based on what?

That both sacked their coach half way through last season because both teams had been rubbish for years?

Or that neither have played finals in donkey's years?

Or that one has only won one flag and the other not in decades?

And we are designed to building through the draft? Did you miss the memo we have locked in Langdon and Tomlinson, chased elliot and no doubt will look to bring in another established player.

Fair dinkum. Is a modicum of logic too much to ask?

Cause and Effect.

Do you honestly trust this Club to bounce back into Finals next year?

I don’t. I hope we do, but i have no trust...

Elliot was never coming here. It's pretty obvious his preference is Collingwood and the Melbourne and Brisbane noise is just there to drive up his deal at Collingwood.

If the pies get cold feet he has Brisbanes offer, but odds are him staying in the barcode jumper for another 3 seasons.

I don't know mate...I reckon 9 or 10 wins would have been a real bad year but it might have still given people some belief that this club was in the process of changing its ways.

As it stands, we looked like a club that was pretty lost but even worse we didn't even look like we were fighting to right the ship. The performance late in the season against Sydney looked like a group who gives no $hits about the direction of the club. Very hard to sell it to potential recruits on the back of that.

Disposals: 356 v 351
Marks: 82 v 84
Tackles 77 v 83
Inside 50's: 55 v 45
Scoring shots: 17 v 20
Clearances: 37 v 38

We didn't play a tall forward at all to bring the ball to ground and left Melksham and Fritsch outmanned and up the other end Sam Reid got hold of Frost. Ugly lapses in defensive systems led to easy Swans goals at times but otherwise it wasn't a case of giving up.

The St Kilda game annoyed me most from the run home because they were dreadful and did all they could to throw it away for 3/4's but we were worse and limped out of there in the last quarter. That and throwing away the North game for no good reason out of sheer laziness.

I couldn't put that any better myself, only bit you missed ' is clear communication lines reestablished and the players being in the right head space', although I doubt you will ever convince the core group of miseries on here

That is an indictment on the lions. An embarrassment.

They should be kicked out of the AFL.

In all seriousness both the Dees, Lions and even the face saving Hawks were played like a fiddle by Elliotts management.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
