Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The first goal of the game? The centering pass on the left? He had his moments (selfishly had a shot from outside 50 late).

Unsighted after half time, when the game was on the line. Major pass for me. Let’s not waste money on this guy past his use by date.

13 disposals today, 9 of which were uncontested. Never looked looked like impacting the game, along with Stephenson, which was a major reason Collingwood only had 3 goals till three quarter time. GWS mopped up time and time again. His days are numbered.

So the fact pies only had 20 inside 50’s to half time had nothing to do with that, almost our whole list must be past there used by your logic. He has been one of these better players in the 2nd half of the year and would be a major asset in our fwd line over the likes of spargo or anb or anyone else you could mention

Tom Browne just said that we've offered Elliot 3 years while the pies have offered 2. Also said other clubs like Bulldogs and Hawthorn will chase Elliot hard also in the next coming weeks.

Interestingly he also said that Melbourne have a tight salary cap space at the moment.

The race for Jamie Elliott now includes hawthorn and possibly north and dogs. Pies have tight space, Melbourne can’t pay overs either. Demons in good position. But will become major talking point

  • Channel 7’s Tom Browne is reporting that the race for Jamie Elliott’s signature has heated up, with Melbourne not the only club interested in the Collingwood forward.

Elliott, 27, is out-of-contract at the end of this season, and with the Pies’ year now over, more clubs are in the hunt for him.

“The race for Elliott has heated up this morning,” Browne told Channel 7’s Game Day.

“Melbourne are offering three years, Collingwood are offering two.

“My understanding is this: multiple clubs, with money, are interested in Elliott.

The main ones would be Hawthorn, potentially with salary cap space, also the Bulldogs and North Melbourne, so I think there will be a real race for Elliott now in coming weeks.

In fairness, Tom Brown was the the first one to call the Adam Tomlinson interest at the start of August on Talking Footy. And also the Ask Jones to St Kilda as well.

Whether you want to believe him or not thats up to you. But he's got a lot right then wrong.

Tom Browne is in the Sam McClure basket of casting the widest net possible. The more you say the more you seemingly get right, it's an absolute journalistic farce. Half these journos have already ended up with egg on their faces from players re-signing that they were signed sealed and delivered to other clubs.

The key words there by Browne are "multiple clubs" "with money" - which could mean literally half the teams in the comp, and he'd be happy to take the credit if Elliot lands at any of the clubs he mentioned. Don't believe anything it until it happens.

This doesn't necessarily mean we've got a tight cap. It just means there are others we would prefer to pay more.

I could be wrong, but that's my take.

Elliott not needed with Stephenson and De Goney. we don't either.....

So who's our Stephenson and De Goey? Maybe Petracca is our De Goey, but I don't see a Stephenson-like player on our list currently.

Fritsch

Totally different players. Stephenson brings blistering pace. Fritsch brings foot skills (but only if he's forward of centre, otherwise he's a turnover merchant).

We do not have pace like Stephenson anywhere. The closest we come is maybe Hunt, Frost or May. None of them are natural forwards though.

If it’s true we only have 2 x A Graders (Max and Clarry) then it begs the question have we overpaid our B Graders and others based on potential? We have quite a few who are only VFL standard  and would hopefully not be on big coin.

When you sign blokes like Braydon Pruess to a 4 year deal worth 500k a year then yes it begs the question.

Max, Clarry, Lever and May are all A graders.

Based on 2019, many on Demonland are saying Clarry doesn't qualify, so really it's just Max.

However, if you've watched the grand output of these players, it's not unfair to classify each of them as A graders.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
