Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Fritta and Gawn were amazing today, but too many B graders.

Seen enough of Stretch Wagner Spargo ANB and JKH

Jones one more year ands that’s about it.

You’re kidding. I’d love some more B Graders. We’re essentially a team of C Graders.

Looking at the Higgins goal that won them the game.

Dumont managed to push Harmes aside, find a ground ball get while Spargo falls over, gets tackled by Salem who pins his free arm. Meanwhile 4 of our players immediately surround Dumont leaving space outside for Wood and then Higgins to receive the handball over the top after Dumont somehow frees his arm. Higgins evades Jones and Hibberd while Frosty is haunched over presumably with cramp and snaps on his left.

So frustrating we didn't kill that ball and then got sucked into the contest yet again.

I could review individual contests as much as I'd like and it's probably not a good idea to focus on small moments like that, but gee it's indicative of how we play without footy brains and make the little mistakes that cost big

Barring disastrous injuries next year, Jones should end his career at Casey.

Thanks for your service. Here's your life membership.

And Viney to either join him or be traded out!

Where you driving, Bro? I appreciate your comments because they are basically positive. I get so sick and tired of the negativity on this site. They are mainly 'experts' who probably have never played the game.

... and so ends our worst season since 2014 (pretty scary to think how close we came to our 2012-2014 record, given the last minute wins over the Hawks and Suns).

For the record, this year we beat (as the ladder currently stands) #9, #13, #15, #16 and #18.

Yikes

I decided not to watch I say, for the first time in my life, and only just watched the last quarter. Jones’ centering kick out of the back half was fundamentally horrendous and he should have strips torn off him by the coach. He initially signalled that he was heading to the boundary side and all our players moved that way, and then he pulls the kick back to the middle. He has done that sort of stuff for too long. It’s criminal. All we needed was to force a boundary throw in. He has been offered 3 years at the GC and wouldn’t be surprised if he walks. Apparently is disgruntled at the Dees. If he leaves, that’s a sad way to finish up

3 years, no wonder they,re on the bottom

Not one question from anyone re the last minute turnover by Jones......

Honestly let the supporters ask the questions!

Would hanging out an individual to dry like that make you feel better? Sad indictment of your personality.

Jones lost us the game with that kick. We all know that.

Was not wanting jones to be hung...More around the fact on our lack of leadership & players not moving to the boundary line & having leaders getting players to move to the boundary .. this wouldn’t happen at successful clubs .. FYI my personality has lived through watching this Train wreck of a club since the 70s & never seen a flag! Yet I’m a 20yr + member & a sucker for punishment

You're certainly not wrong, and I suspect Jones wont be a captain next year. A prospect I am delighted about to be honest.

We're all seeing the same things and venting frustrations in different ways I guess.

The pre-game and gameday (before the game started) threads are full of people saying we’d lose by 10+ goals.

Yet I can’t see a single post in here where someone admits to being surprised by the result.

I haven’t seen the game so I would actually have liked to read a post or two touching on what we did to match/best them for long parts of the game.

Did we seek to play the more controlled game we’ve tried playing in the second half of the year?

Team played with more freedom, bit like the caretaker coach who just tells the players to take the game on and have a crack, without being consumed by defensive structures as a premium.

Happens in a lot of end of season games when caution is thrown to the wind.

Max Gawn gave Goldstein an absolute bath, dominant player on the ground, 3 Chas votes

Fritsch really good game and starting to haveca bit of Brad Green about him, good leading patterns going to make it difficult for defenders by playing in front

Frosty did a job on Brown, whose 2 goals came from a downfield free and a mark on the lead from a turnover when Salem, Harmes and Brayshaw didn't get back quickly enough to fill the hole in front of Brown

Viney tagged Cunnington winning the battle and reducing his influence- this is where Viney needs to be used

Nibbler, JKH and Stretch weren't to bad but Nibblers skills let him down and should have nailed a goal on the run to level the game but these 3 are VFL/Depth and you don't want to many of them

Jones for the most part was ok forward but a player ofchis experience should be kicking down the line and not trying to hit someone up through the corridor with under 2 minutes to go with the lead, basic stuff down the line and start again with a  throw in or ball up at worst

Lever and Frost intercepted well but Levers turnovers were very costly

Trac very good early but still a burst player, makes very good decisions

Salem poor 1% player and something has happened with his kicking last month or so, not sure whether he's carrying a niggle or not, along with Brayshaw, Harmes and Clarrie needs to work harder to run with/find his opponent or fill holes when we turn the ball over

Hore has had a good first year but skills need a lot of work, but good depth to have if our defenders are all fit

Overall better performance than some predicted with some decent chains of ball movement and handballs with depth to break congestion but poor delivery inside 50 was still there.

Turnovers/general decision making, accountability for your opponent(eg 2 way running), 1%ers and groundball improvement inside 50 the weaknesses to be worked on and the focus, which along with a decent pre season and improved confidence should see improvement next season

Today was probably the best we’ve played for a while. Really dominated the clearances and contested footy at times. Just lacked the polish. And that’s what cost us in the end.

Maxy was huge and should be the next captain of this club.

Fritsch will be a perma forward.

Trac played some good footy in the middle. Hopefully spends more time there next year.

The end of the game summed our season up. I was not looking forward to watching the game but as I mentioned probably the best we’ve played for a while.

Harsh to pull him up on one moment. If you watched the whole game he set up a lot of play. Kicked a good goal, 2 assists, 7 score involvements. Solid game

Glad thats out of the way. The positives I took from the game:

1. No injuries.

2. Showed patches of good ball use, particularly in the third.

3. Fritch, Hunty and Melky playing forward together along with Jones at HF.

4. Petracca in the midfield and midfield balance better in general.

5. Maxy kicking for goal.

Looking forward to the players coming back in terrific shape, trading in/out a couple of players, pick two and the footy department changes.

Hunty & Melky.....Positives??

Hunt 12 disposals & 58% efficiency & Melksham 13 disposals 46% efficiency.....& 2 tackles between them

Wow!

After finally playing finals and getting to a prelim last year you think 17th this year is a satisfactory outcome?

On this note the recent discussion about the culture at hawthorn says a lot. Should Roughead get a farewell game? Well he did but the Hawks mantra is that you never get gifted a game. It goes back to the days of Dermie when interviewed about Roughy also said when you look back at your Hawthorn career you know you earned every game. No freebies, no sentiment and that is why Hodge retired, Lewis and Mitchell were moved on and Roughy has spent most of the season in the 2's

I hope Jones accepts the offer of 1 year, surrenders the captaincy and is prepared to play at Casey and develop the next gen because sadly he will not be in the next team to play in a GF

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
