Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Not so sure.

Tigers need to move.  Punt Road just has no room for expansion. (2 ovals plus an indoor hangar type facility are the new standard.)

Carlton ...not sure but expansion into Princes Park would be a mammoth battle.

Collingwood already making noises about moving. Whittlesea-Epping area is my guess but don't count out Yarra Bend Park if they are willing to allow public access to the training ovals.

Interesting comments Jim.

Your point is well made and reflects the fact that needs and circumstances change.

The clubs I mentioned came to mind as clubs that had self contained dedicated training facilities, close to the city, and, in the case of the Tigers and Blues, located at their spiritual home. I suppose I could have included all the Victorian based clubs as Geelong are located slap bang in the middle of Sleepy Hollow (not so sleepy any more). All in all, a hell of a lot better off than the Demons using shared indoor facilities and training on open public park land surrounded by busy roads.

Fine with me DJ, happy to go wherever to get a good facility. I cannot see the pies or tigers moving anytime soon where as we need somewhere yesterday.

Mentioned by K.Cornes that we can't have Petracca at 22 goals being our highest goal scorer and that we should target him if we think we're in a premiership window. Also back up Ruck position available for him.

IMG_20200601_181850.jpg

Personally I think this might actually be the year to make a move on Daniher if he is a restricted free agent and especially now that we don't have a 1st round pick to play with. If EFC are happy to get a 1st round compo. Th family association with Neal and with our yearly Big Freeze game. will be a membership coup IE great for kids to have a big marquee key forward to want to come and see.

Much depends on his injury recovery and our KPF performances this year, of course

might as well get darcy daniher too - between him and joe they might have an uninjured body at some point

kornes really is an idiot

This whole discussion, while premature, is one that will need to be had if Daniher recovers or shows enough potential to recover from his injuries, we have another year with awful i50 conversions and miss the 8, and he's inevitably the only forward that is on the market in trade period.

It's about time we had an injury prone player on our list.

And yet if Burgess gets Bennell, vandenberg, Viney, Smith all injury free, we'll be the exact club an injury prone player will want to come to turn their career around. Big IF yes, but let's wait and see before mocking the idea of swooping in on a kpf player we won't have to trade anything for.

I think plenty of Dees supporters after round 1 are having premonitions that there is no way this list will be competitive in the final two weeks of the season over the next few years without some radical intervention to bring in a star or two by taking some big risks. Tmac and Weid kicking bags and winning premierships? It's just a laughable idea at this point. Like hoping Ben Holland and Troy Simmonds turn into clutch superstars.

We have a gaping hole in our forward line. We’re crying out for a tall forward who can kick a bag. Daniher can do that.

We have zero currency to trade with this gear having traded away our first rounder already. Getting Daniher for free trade-wise as a free agent would be a coup, as long as we didn’t pay extreme overs. I actually believe he’s fit to play right now, but just doesn’t want to at Essendon. Yes he’s injury prone, but there’s no other options this year.

Jesse Hogan was our messiah and unfortunately he had injury and personal issues. It’s the curse around our team. We need a strong key forward. Tmcd is good but not in the class of the real key forwards.  Weid is still a boy who has the talent but not the intensity or aggression needed. He’s a really nice kid who needs 2000 volts to make him “want it “.

Easy solution.

Give him 20 shots at goal from 35 out on a 45 degree angle.  Every goal he kicks, he gets $100k per year on his contract.

Don't think they will be up for 2 mill a year.

The thinking man's problem resolution, in this case.

Exactly. I'd be very confident if he stays Melbourne he stays at Essendon. He stated his desire to move to Sydney was to get away from the pressure of the Melbourne footy fish bowl.

Personally I wouldn't go near him. We're not a team that can afford another trading disaster. He's incredibly injury prone and at his best one of the worst kicks for goal I've seen. When he gets everything right he looks great but that's only happened a couple of times in his career. Too risky for MFC and almost certainly wouldn't come to us anyway.

I'd rather get Tom McDonald back to the player he was in the 2nd half of the 2017 season and in 2018. But we'll probably know by the end of the year if that's possible or if his mind and body are all but shot.

I'd be surprised if Daniher is anywhere other than Essendon or north of the Murray next year. I'd support the club rolling the dice on him but the chances of him choosing us as well seem rather low.

Yep, that's what I thought.  That he wanted away from the glaring Melbourne spotlight.

Too big a risk, with him hating the fishbowl and his ongoing injury concerns as well, plus the question mark about his training standards.

I like the idea about looking for a big fish to trade into our club... but what about Tom Papley, or someone else?  maybe some more speed onboard, with some recruit.

I'm just uneasy about Big Joe.

This is what we get,  with all ex champion players taking all the front media seats.

Their EGO's come with them,  and then this flows down the line,  to the radio jocks as well.    Ego's everywhere.?     To the ear pollution of most footy punters.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
