Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Ryan and Rioli, both so exciting to watch, both electric and skilful. We don’t need one small crumbing forward, we need two.

Yes I am at Optus watching this and my thoughts exactly if only we had those skills in our forward line! The Eagles ball movement in the last 10 minutes is extraordinary! Hard to defend against that although the Hawks are playing well.free kick to Darling was laughable

Just watch Hawthorn win this and lock Collingwood into the top 4, rather than forcing them into an elimination final. FFS!

The Bulldogs aren't losing tomorrow, look at the bigger picture here. ?

I know. It's bad enough essenscum are in there but now the pies have been gifted a double chance.

You have to hand it to Clarko. He is  a genius.

I know I have gone on about it, but if freo held onto win last week then that stupid black/red team would be out.

West Coast have shot themselves in the foot. Win tonight they would have had a double chance. They have fumbled, dropped easy marks, spoiled each other and just kicked badly.

This finals series is going to be hard to watch. There aren't many teams in there that I want to win the grand final.

Just a big Boooooooooooooo to this season. Hopefully Dogs win tomorrow and the Bummers can go play an elimination final in Perth or one here against Toiges. There really isn’t much joy left.

Hate almost every team in the top 8, this is just a disaster right now. The only thing that would make me feel better is Essendon having to go to Perth for their first final and getting blown away by 100+ points.

Collingwood getting a double chance after playing like [censored] for half the season is about as frustrating as it gets. The Hawks could make finals with 11 wins! ELEVEN!

Yep. 11 wins gets a finals berth and we win 5 games for the season

Pathetic

Another master class by Clarko tonight nullified the Eagles at home shutting down their rebound on turnovers

by forcing them to not be able to control tempo, controlling the ball, bringing good intensity and tackling pressure.

Worpoel doing a job on Yeo

and all forward 50 entries either
a)over Mcgovern's head to Mcevoy/OBrien bringing it to ground and forcing Barrass and Hurn to be accountable
b)low and quick to space to take McGovern out of the game
c)All forwards only marking when free in space or being hit up lace out in front.

d) Continually spoiling inside 50 entries instead of trying to take a contested grab(except as c) above) and either winning the ground ball or applying pressure to lock it in or force a hurried clearing kick

All of the above also prevents quick rebound from defence and Hawks were setting up defensive press from halfback to the wings

Simpson and brains trust will know all teams will employ these tactics and will spend 2 weeks working on it, but tonight's loss may leave no room for error

Can see the Hawks challenging well before the mfc.. unbelievable how they haven’t bottomed out & bring in new players & continue the culture vs the pathetic culture we have

Yep watching live tonight the Hawks took them to the cleaners and this loss has most likely cost the Weagles another flag. The Hawks are so well drilled, and have skills and they have a system that works. They always show up to play to the game plan and tactically they play smart to negate their opponents strengths.

Next year they get Mitchell back, Wingard, Scully will be better, they might pull Cogniglio as well. They have picked the eyes out of the free agent system and the disgruntled or chronically injured A graders from other clubs. As well they keep developing second round picks into likely future champions, Worpel, Sicily, Mitch Lewis, etc. Yes the Hawks will give it a shack next year, us well who knows!

The Hawks could even get a double up game against the Eagles. The Eagles would be spooked with that matchup now, which would be amazing, given they'd be confident against every other club at home.

I dimly recall in August 2018 another team beat WCE at home and then made it to the prelim against them and got thrashed by WCE.  Let's see how it plays out.

That’s what happens when you have the best coach over the last 50 years or so.

I'd back WCE to win in a do-or-die final the 2nd time around, but there would have to be some psychological factor with an immediate follow up game that would sew some doubt. As for the psy-factor last year, well they would've been confident knowing Kennedy and Darling would actually be on the field in the prelim and playing for a GF or top 4 is different to having two games to lock in top 2 with just 1 win needed and 5win Brisbane to come the following week.

Funny then, that a sh-t club like ours, as the media and footy world see us, with a crap coach, selfish players, who are poorly skilled, should have beaten the Eagles twice this year, but for massive injuries, poor umpiring and shocking kicking for goal.

No credit given to us for those and many other close losses this year.

It's time to adopt the John Northey mantra of "it's us against the rest of them" and come out fighting next year.

We need a hard edge on the ground from our team and in the public forum from our FD.

Get fit, learn how to tackle, work on our skills, make the game plan simpler, bring in some new talent and pace, get rid of those that aren't good enough and reward those that play hard team footy.

Do that and we are back as a competitor and a relevant team.

so if Bulldogs win both Adelaide teams and Hawks miss.

If Bulldogs lose Hawthorn replace the Bulldogs unless one of the Adelaide teams has a BIG percentage boost in which case they go in.

Also if Bulldogs lose Essendon ends up seventh whereas if Bulldogs win Essendon end up eighth.

Am I correct?

Very appropriate that Bulldogs are playing on Mars Stadium

Interesting that it's 12 games gets you in the eight... so not much different to most years where it's 13 guarantees a spot.

There's a lot of permutations yet to play out. If Brisbane [censored] Richmond, they would end up 5th which means an MCG elimination final with whoever finishes 8th (Essendon or Hawks, depending on the Bulldogs result).

Really want the Drug Cheats to end up facing the Eagles in Perth, but 2 results need to go our way (Richmond and Bulldogs both need to win).

Port v Fremantle is basically a dead rubber because Port won't make up the percentage required to overtake Hawthorn (assuming Adelaide win).

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
