Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Premiers, of course.

Lose 3 of the first 4 games, backs against the wall, coach on the chopping block, Anzac Eve beat Richmond in a nail-biter and start a huge 10+ game winning streak, finish the season on top 17-5. Beat West Coast by 60+ at the G in the qualifying final followed by a close but comfortable 20 point win over Collingwood in the prelim, before finally beating Brisbane by just 2 goals on the last Saturday in September. Gawn to take a huge mark and kick the sealer from straight in front with a minute to go.

Norm Smith: Lever

B&F: May

Leading Goal Kicker: Pettraca

AA: Gawn, Lever, May, Pettraca

Demonlanders: We paid overs in the trades for Lever and May

Ahhhh, what it is to dream.

Can’t be any worse...

If it is, we pull the shutters down and lock the gates and close it down. I actually cant cope with the thought that we have a worse year than 2019.

Surely not.

Obviously it depends on how much we improve the list in the off season but I also have a belief that we’re not as bad as this year would indicate.

Clear run of injuries will see us back in Finals.

Just have an inkling that Goodwin and co will get things right over the summer and we’ll jump out of the blocks.

I see us finishing 5th-6th but still short of class of beating the top tier teams such as Richmond, West Coast, Lions (I think they’ll be good again next year) etc.

We’ll win our first final but play a tough away semi-final and fall short.

If we somehow do finish top 4, due to a really soft draw and win week 1, I think we could almost get to the GF.

I think this prediction is probably 90% red + blue optimism with about 10% logic.

The only thing I’m sure of is that the training reports in December and late January will be thrilling.

Depends on whether we can find a real forward this trade period

I think this is a really interesting point SWYL, while we are all saying we need pace and outside run, in which i agree, i think we definitely need another good quality Fwd. Because this year has left us with more questions that answers re: a couple of our Key Fwds.

What if Tom Mc had an off season, or cant recapture form or struggles with injury again?

What if Weid just does not come on?

I think we need 2 x 40 goals a year fwds, the sides competing have that.

Lions: Cameron (52) & Hipwood (31) - 80+

Cats: Hawkins (52) & Ablett (30) - 80+

Eagles: Darling (52) & Kennedy (42) - 80+

Tigers: Lynch (53) & Castagna (23) - 75+

Pies - 4 x Players 20+

Giants: 3 x Players 30+

I know some lower teams have kicked more goals and are not in contention and its all relative but i think we need another one, last year we had 2 players kick 100 between them. this year its taken 6 players to kick a total of 102 goals. its obvious i know as it would be hard to kick a goal in our team, but its not like we dont get it in there enough, if there isn't we cant put all our eggs in outside speed.

We certainly do, and thats why i cant believe we are not in the mix to chat with Tom Papley. he is hard, fast, reads it well, good overhead, and a crumber who kicks goals, he is teh exact player that would compliment out fwd line. Averaged 30 (29.5) goals the last 4 years

If Petracca plays forward again next year, he needs to be the one that steps up to help McDonald on the score board.

Personally, i’d rather him get super-fit and play midfield.  But if he’s staying forward, there’s no reason why a player of his talent and ability can’t kick well over 40 goals in a season.

That’s not to discount Weideman- it’s just that when you look at our forward line talent, Petracca is under performing in regards to scoreboard impact.

Yeah in an ideal world, Tom Mc would be around 50 and get Weid and Trac to kick 70 between them. Trac' last 3 year have been 22** (1 game to go) 19 (in 2018) and 26 (in 2017) 40 goals a season is a lot for a guy who hasn't kicked more than 26 a year, but it should be the aim. Depends a bit on if he does some more midfield time in 2020.

Petracca is never going to be a big scoring Forward. Has a terrible action when kicking from standing position. Mid 20's is his total I am afraid.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
