Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Goody and Plapp talking and waiting in the middle for the players to turn up.

A bit windy, otherwise good conditions.

Rehab out first, Aaron Nietschke doing a bit of ball work, Tom Sparrow getting time tested, Jeff Garlett running laps, Tim Smith walking laps.

The light duties had Max Gawn and Nathan Jones in the rehab for a while, both joining the main squad after warm-ups.

Also on light duties was Christian Salem and Michael Hibberd who both stayed in the rehab group, but we're running laps strongly together.

Out with the rehab was Jordan Lewis, when the squad came out he joined them. He was thanking everyone and being congratulated.

After warm-ups, they were straight into drills; blocking, handballs and hit ups by foot.

They had two groups drilling a game of keepings off with handball and tackling. Very slick with good skills on show.

The simulations were done with some solid tackling and pressure, they were hard at it. Bayley Fritsch cleaning up James Jordan leaving him with a corked hip. Plenty of spoils, one on one contest, blocking, with forwards switching on the opponent and midfield structuring to create overlap. Jack Viney and Nathan Jones leading by example. Goody was looking for the players to create isolation.

After the hard hit out they went into their line groups.

Backline had Sam Frost, James Harmes and Charlie Spargo in it.

Forwards included Austin Bradke, Billy Stretch and Corey Wagner.

Max did minimal ruck work but did some leading in the forward area. Most of the ruck craft drills were done by Braydon Preuss with Clayton Oliver the recipient

Jay Kennedy-Harris and Oskar Baker with the mids, as well as Clayton Oliver, Christian Pettraca and Angus Brayshaw who were training well. One of the drills was slotting passes at a target.

Training ended with the entire squad goal kicking and then they broke off into small group and individual practice.

Last on the track Alex Neal-Bullen and Billy Stretch kicking running goals, Braydon marking and a few taking high marks off the bag  (including Clayton Oliver and James Harmes )

Tom Mcdonald out on the field wearing a coaches vest and later walking laps with Steven May.

No Petty Harrison, Oscar Mcdonald or Kade Chandler. Also, haven't seen Satyricon for some time.

The team was boisterous, supportive and generally up and about.

Damn was hoping he'd be available this week.

Please tell me we're seriously not considering putting out that same forward line we dished out against Sydney. That was without doubt the worst and most dysfunctional forward line I've ever seen from an AFL club.

They'll have to bring in Preuss for some structure and just plonk him in the 0-25 mtr range all day when not relieving Gawn. Or perhaps play Gawn at full forward for most of the day and Preuss in the ruck.

Assuming Gawn is going to get up! If he doesn’t there is only Keilty available to play forward or Frost I suppose. We are almost bereft of players over 192 cm on the fit list.

This is what I was saying should've happened last week. How often does a new player come in and fail when played out of position???

We know Preuss can play ruck, let's play him in that role to get his confidence at the level up, then try him forward. We need to know if he's up to the level before we commit to it in the pre-season. It would've been nice to slaughter Aliir last week for some confidence before attacking Goldy, but so be it.

I think that is the lessor of two evils BBP.

My confidence would improve two fold if Blundstone moved the goal posts about 15 meters left also!

Wouldn't surprise me RN. The venue is such a back water dump and shouldn't be hosting premiership points.

We should fit right in then BBP?

They are probably amped because its only a few days until they can play dress-ups and get smashed.

I dont begrudge any of the players a [censored]-up after the season they have had, even though it was a monsterous fail.

Party till you puke boys....... but for (insert favorite deity's name) come back to day 1 of pre-season FIT and determined to show last year was the outlier.

Good on Kev for getting there and giving a good report. Hats off. But has it really come to this. Some being happy that we trained well against each other a few days before our last match, having lost our last five or so games dismally.

Is Austin Bradke a chance, 204 cm? Training with a group of 8 forwards this morning. Declan Keilty was with the backs.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
