Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Will Carlscum rise up the ladder?

Recommended Posts

I have a bad feeling that the Blues are returning.

The MFC better be ready to fight because if Carlscum fight for Flags again they will challenge for more games at The MCG

Bartlett, Pert and The Board simply have to get this preseason right

Yep. They have a good spread of young talent across the board from backs to forwards and mids.

Trading away 3 first round picks for Lever and May will unfortunately set us back a bit. I can see Carlton potentially overtaking us next year if we don't get our [censored] in order.

Carlton don't actually need to achieve anything at this point - if there is sufficient hype around them, they become an attractive proposition for someone like Coniglio who has his hand out for big money.

Bring in some experienced recruits + the continued development of young players + favourable draw from bottom 4 finish = Carlton challenging for top 8 next year.

Maclure is being hysterical...surprise.

The Carlton list is in a good position and with the right coach will turn it around quickly.

They don't need a major rebuild, just time, a good coach and a few targeted acquisitions.

Said this mid year and a couple agreed, most couldn't see it.

This was around the time of the Bolton sacking...

They are well placed and now they seem to have the right coach.

...so of course they will rise up the ladder, they've already started.

Agree and add to that the reality that we haven't exactly smashed it in our lower order drafting we are facing a task similar to that imposed upon Hercules by King Augeus.

Next Year? Haven't they already overtaken us?

I can live with being near the bottom of the ladder as long as Carlton and Essendon are there with us. I think we will play off in a GF with Carlton in the next couple of years.

They should... but their and our history shows that it is much easier said than done.

Having potential doesn’t guarantee success, just as being the hunter is significantly easier than the hunted.  No one will take them lightly next year, so will be interesting to see how they cope with the pressure.

If we were to play them tomorrow they'd win.

Their list will only get better this post season as they shed some older players and likely trade in some more mid aged players. Plus more development into their young guns.

It's taken a while but I think they'll shoot up the ladder pretty quick next year. Maybe not to the same heights of Brisbane this year but can see them beating the teams as high as 6th.

Being so bad for so long might actually work out for them. I think we've fluffed our chance but we'll have to wait till next year to see if we can reset the list a little.

Why did Bolton fail so badly?

Why has Teague been able to flick the right switch? Goodwin should take very close notice to this...

could it be as simple as over structured game plans and/or playing to your strengths.

whatever it is we will need a lot of luck next year to trun this train wreck of a season around (love mixing my metaphors as it reflects the life of a mixed up MFC supporter.)

The form of Brayshaw , Petracca and Oliver are essential to our success. Get them all near A grade/elite and we are in clover as all the rest of the support players come on strong and injury free. Nice to dream.

What is finals success? Making the finals? Winning a final? Premiership?

In reference to my comment finals success meant making and winning a final.

I can't predict whether they will win a premiership yet but I believe they are closer to getting a shot at the moment than we are.

Bolton made the mistake of coaching for the future...and he forgot about the now.

He fell for the party line.

Don't listen to the board, they will stab you in the back when it suits their purpose.

In the end it's all about winning games.

Teague came in with no expectations and put players in their best positions, to hell with development.

The biggest example was Curnow senior who was played as a permanent forward this year under Bolton.

Teague put him straight back in as a tagger, which is where he excels.

...and surprise, Carlton started to win some games.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
