Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

How about we get together a 'think tank ' of  thoughtful, intelligent and sensible demonlanders to replace the assistants leaving the dees.

That leaves me out, but who here could participate and  help lead the dees back to glory ???

I take it you are kidding, if not, would you send abusive posts to yourselves when you lose every game?

Can he coach?

I'm not one to suggest coaches due to some kind of 'bleeds red and blue' logic, so not mentioning him due to that. Has worked his way up from development coach to senior assistant, and anyone who has been a senior assistant to Clarko is worth a look in my books.

I have been critical of his output this year, so many baffling things coming out of the coaches box that i wonder if his voice wasn't being heard as much.. A guy with apparently so much to offer and a great footy mind either didn't get a chance this year to have as much input or he wasn't offering great solutions or alternatives.

Interesting link to the fallout of Jennings. Apparently didn't get on with Brendan McCartney.

i understand why richo is being talked of - worked with both mahoney and burgess at port, plus with pert at the pies - but i would love some ip from clarkson's cluster of coaches to come in

in an ideal world it's either cam bruce or, preferably, adem yze, joining our coaching panel this year

bolton would be another 'senior' option in lieu of richardson, and also has worked successfully under clarkson's stewardship

Has this been brought up before? What’s this all about? (Self promotion bit)

The club wasn’t rapt with his personal promotion.

Jennings sought to promote himself, advised by a well-known PR agent.

His public self-promotion campaign culminated in a profile piece in Virgin’s in-flight magazine.

The 'Macca not getting on with coaches' rumours earlier this year was to do with Jennings.

That article certainly dispels the recent (umprompted) commentary from Goodwin about how unified they all are!

The article makes it clear Jennings was pushed.  The talk of him going as he wants to be a senior coach, while perhaps true, is a smoke screen in this case - we have a vacancy at Casey he could have been appointed to if we thought he was up to the task or wanted to keep him around.  Clearly, we didn't.

Where does Josh Mahoney sit with all this? This guy has been at the club since 2008 when he came over with Dean Bailey as an assistant coach. He has managed to survive just about the worst period in the clubs history and has outlasted everyone to rise to senior leadership. Just wondering if anyone knows how it is that he has survived so long? I heard Roos once describe him as a potentially great footy administrator (that was about 2014). Any ideas?

Wasn't Mahoney involved in getting rid of Jack Watts?

So now we're taking Tom Browne's word as gospel with all his "suggested", "unclear", "questions", "sources", "understood" weasel words style of journalism?

I thought the consensus on Demonland was that Tom Browne was useless and unreliable, but those who can't wait to stick the boots in whenever possible are happy to take his latest effort as the truth.

It started to get “ very worrying” when we almost doubled Geelong i50’s and lost by 80 points back in (was it round 2?) ... and bar a win or two it hasn’t gotten less worrying since. Richmond replaced almost all of Hardwick assistants before he won the flag. You can’t sit on your hands while a year like this unfolds. It would be more worrying for me if they weren’t taking any action.

Good post. Since the Cats game I have been perplexed all season about strategy. The fact that the coaching  didn't prevent this inside 50 counts and losses tells me the strategy dept was a very poor performer this year - whomever that was.

Do you take the official AFL website as gospel?

Whatever Jennings' skill set and knowledge may be, clearly something isn't working this year on and off the field and things need to change in a major way. Good luck to him if he can move higher in the industry.

I'm no fan of Goodwin, but clearly he has some credits in the bank from 2018. He now has the opportunity to surround himself with the right people of his choosing for 2020. From there it is all on his shoulders.

Come on Lord Nev, don't be so disingenuous.  His leaving is not in dispute, it's the other muck that Browne is raking.

Disingenuous? I merely posted facts in response to your post. Either your post was literal, to which my response answers it, or it was sarcasm, which makes it ironic you're trying to label me disingenuous. TBH not really interested in which it was. I just prefer to play a straight bat.

Why wouldn't we? ...... "Tom Browne is an expert AFL contributor for 7NEWS.COM.AU"

Clearly well on the way to elite AFL distributor, just needs his level 4

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
