Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Craig Jennings Gone at Seasons End

Rumours that Craig Jennings has been advised his services won't be required next year.

How quickly things change.

EDIT: They are "parting ways" as he seeks an "AFL-aligned VFL coaching gig".

Another sign that those who believe the failure of this season is primarily due to injuries and off season surgeries are incredibly off the mark.

Keep ringing the changes.  I would also hope/suggest Josh Mahoney & Jason Taylor need to have a very strong Trade & Draft to secure their immediate futures.

That can't be right....Its all the surgeries we had over summer....Goody told us....

Some people can't see the nose on their face.

So Jennings and Mccartney both gone. Chapman should go and so should Plapp. If we can't get rid of Goodwin we need to get decent assistants pronto.

Wasn't there a regular track watcher who was telling us over the summer period that there was no such thing as uninterrupted Pre Season??

Are we sure we're leaving him and it's not him leaving us? Interesting that he and Goodwin could share the coaching box for so long right next to each other and not be on the same page.

I'm not against changes but we better be bringing in some good names.

Goodwin losing the guy we thought was his mentor (Macca) and the guy we thought was his closest colleague at the same time worries me.

Jennings wants to be a senior coach some day...

The word has been he would leave at the end of this year.

It makes sense for him career wise to take on a senior VFL job.

I wouldn't read any more into it than this.

Of course with the year we're having many will read too much into his departure.

especially because Goody would have handpicked these guys, now he is saying his all star coaching line up is no good, where to now?

Maybe not this year, but if things continue to go bad, Goody will surely be following suit.

"Jennings is part of the AFL's exclusive Level Four coaching program, which has produced senior coaches Simon Goodwin, Stuart Dew and Brendon Bolton, Geelong football boss Simon Lloyd and a series of highly touted assistants."

Perhaps the level 4 coaching program isn't churning out quality coaches like they hoped. Goody continues to captain the SS. Sinking Ship, Dew is currently working wonders at GC ?, Bolton has been given the flick after failing to cultivate grass, and Simon Lloyd (whilst highly credentialed in the back of house) hasn't been able to land a senior gig for some time. They might as well call it 'Business 101' if it's headed by the AFL.

Clarko didn't need no level 4 induction, nor has Fagan or Simpson. When it comes to coaching, the good one's (as it always has been) naturally just know how to coach.

Unfortunately it's looking more and more clear that Goodwin doesn't.

So what about Mahoney, Viney , Taylor, walking the plank, seriously blame

a few peripheral assistants, not their fault, what a train wreck this club is.

Interesting times...

So the Club is clearly backing Goodwin in. What I want to know is how much input he had into these coaching changes. Are these decisions being made above his head (and what would have happened if the 3 year contract wasn't signed)? Or is this Goodwin recognising that a new direction in both approach and style need a change? Maybe both?

Hopefully it's Goodwin coming to the realisation that they've got the whole thing wrong and it's time for a new direction.

Does anyone know any information about potential replacements? I would hate to think the broom is out without anyone lined up.

This is starting to get very worrying.

It started to get “ very worrying” when we almost doubled Geelong i50’s and lost by 80 points back in (was it round 2?) ... and bar a win or two it hasn’t gotten less worrying since. Richmond replaced almost all of Hardwick assistants before he won the flag. You can’t sit on your hands while a year like this unfolds. It would be more worrying for me if they weren’t taking any action.

we signed Goodwin for another three years. We dont have the riches to sack him. So the only option is to do what Richmond did and replace all the assistants. expect more to go before seasons end.

We'll always remember him coaching us to an AFLX flag

As well as his stone cold demeanour in the box even during our best victories last year ...keeping Goodwin in check from over celebrating ( e.g tmac winner at west coast a few years ago , and nibblers sealer against the crows last year in Adelaide )

Where does Josh Mahoney sit with all this? This guy has been at the club since 2008 when he came over with Dean Bailey as an assistant coach. He has managed to survive just about the worst period in the clubs history and has outlasted everyone to rise to senior leadership. Just wondering if anyone knows how it is that he has survived so long? I heard Roos once describe him as a potentially great footy administrator (that was about 2014). Any ideas?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
