Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

You are correct a gym is a gym as long as you have the space and equipment.  The big advantage is the recovery and planning facilities.  The players are at training bases now for basically 6-8 hours a day.  A lot of that is recovery and planning add in rest times.  It has gone past a ice bath and lap pool plus a couple of rooms for social space and computer/planning work.  Clubs have bed rooms for players to rest in between session, varying different areas to keep the players entertained whilst at the club.

You will find it isn't a big item that we are missing just little things that will add up

Isn't there an aquatic centre out there in the wider complex. I guess recovery and swimming training can go on there. It's not all the other things but it's some.

Looks great. Now they just need to jack it all up and move it 50km closer to civilisation.

Sorry to say it will be the centre of a Type of civilisation within 20 years

Kilometre after kilometre of boring little boxes with no backyards

Built in what was once our most fertile farmland

With the expected development of Goschs  it is probably going to be our home for the next couple of years.

Why would our captain move to a house down that way?

Perhaps he knows things we don't!

Its not finished til April next year. Will we be training at Goschs once it starts until then? I thought we were doing our pre season out there due to covid etc ?  Anyone know how the logistics of this will work? We just cant afford a substandard pre season this year.

The silence is deafening Wells. MFC site tells us nothing. Perhaps all the news is being held over till Thursday night.

Yeah there's a massive aquatic center (Casey Race) a few hundred meters down the road which the club has used in the past.

Athletics track next door as well. Think they're certainly going to be set there at least until the vaccine hits next year.

Casey and MFC

Increasingly feeling that the romance is ending......

Covid is perhaps that one last fling but like all good  Edwardian dramas ?

Perhaps you should take a trip to Casey  DJ?
Ever been there?

A tour of the new facilities would be a good start!

Oh you may need your GPD for your first inspection and it's recommended you go on a Dees AFL Trsining day.

PS Take your autograph book also!!!

many many times

I can recommend the bacon and egg rolls and the Berwick mound for viewing.

My comment is based mainly on funding. Hard to see who will pay to maintain both a training ground and Casey. Why wouldn't you play future VFL matches at the new training ground near the MCG.

Probably not allowed under "changed use condition" for the area it is a public park remember. And the idea is to get people in the Casey area involved with the MFC. That would be very difficult if the games are played at Goschs.

Yes the degree of exclusivity at Gosch's will be interesting. I think there will be a land deal of sorts done that grants some element of exclusivity and that is the main reason why the site is being kept quiet. Perhaps a fenced arena with gates left open in times of non use

Interesting to see a global brand making to move to Casey Fields as well. Maybe one thing the Schwab era got correct in the long term.

I just saw that. On the face of it a smart move by Melbourne United, as:

  • covid has likely forever changed Melbourne in terms of the numbers of people who will work in the CBD. More people will will work from home, at least some days in the week, meaning population in areas like Casey and even down towards Philip Island and into Gippsland will increase
  • Casey and the surrounding areas (with the exception of the Mornington Peninsula) are pretty culturally diverse so likely soccer is a pretty popular sport
  •  in the main the new fans they are looking to attract don't support another A league team, or if they do not rusted on support, meaning they have fertile ground for building their fan base (unlike us where we would be relying mainly on convincing young kids to support the dees)

As you mentioned along with the population demographics of new migrants who move into the area who come from traditional soccer loving regions, seems like a no brainer for them. As you said Bin, ours is potentially more of a hit and hope by winning over kids.

And the wheel turns.  Melbourne Heart started with Casey Fields as their training base way back when...then they became Melbourne City...off to Latrobe - Bundoora, and now back to Casey......

Pity we couldn't convince Victory to move out of AAMI instead.......

You have listed the most important part of the thread. The egg and bacon rolls. Delicious. Lets hope they have not been affected by the new stand and I can't see why they should be.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you his observations from this morning's Captain's Run including some hints at the changes for our ANZAC Eve clash against the Tigers. Sunny, though a touch windy, this morning, 23 of them no emergencies.  Forwards out first. Harrison Petty, JvR, Jack Billings, Kade Chandler, Kozzy, Bayley Fritsch, and coach Stafford.  The backs join them, Steven May, Jake Lever, Woey, Judd McVee, Blake Howes, Tom McDonald

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
