Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Vale Frank "Bluey" Adams.

The great Frank "Bluey" Adams has sadly passed away.

Condolences to family and friends.

One of the smallest players to have played for the MFC and one of its biggest champions.

RIP Bluey.

Very sad to hear of Bluey/s passing. What a champion winger he was. When he had the ball it was 'catch me if you can'. Gee he was fast. Even Hunty would pale in Bluey's presence. Of course he was courageous and tough and could he ever play football.  RIP my Demon hero.

I am so sad to hear this and my condolences to the family. Such a great person he will be missed. I met him on so many occasions at family days etc with his family and was happy to be one of the crowd but such a gentleman.

My best story was at Luna Park where Frank and grand children where in the queue to get Jack Watts signature and no-one around including Jack knew who he was. I knew who he was, as he was my late mums favourite and suggested that maybe Bluey should be signing autographs as a premiership hero. Introduced him to Jack who didn't know who he was and but then started asking him questions about all those flags.

He will forever be remembered in 1955 (I was 2 months old) for that short lived finals appearance of a few seconds when late in the Grand Final he sprinted onto the ground of the bench and collided with wingman Des Healy of Collingwood. Both ended up unconscious. Healy had won the Copeland that year and never played again at age 28 while Bluey went on to win 6 premierships.

Another of that great era has passed.

Yes, another of the old firm has departed the scene.  So very sad.

I'm afraid old Father Time is catching up with us all.  My sister turned 71 yesterday.  I wished her a belated Happy 21st (albeit a full half Century late!)

Condolences to Bluey's family.

I am from a long line of Melbourne-loving ancestors, and grew up after Bluey was finishing his footy at the Dees. The collision was part of my family's folklore, with family members wincing when they recalled the actual sound of the collision between Healey and Bluey, but loving the fact that Tiger Ridley snuck a goal in all the confusion, that finished the game.

6 premierships. I am yet to see 1.

Sympathy and respect to the extended Adams family.

I once discussed the Healy incident with him, contrary to what was written back then he said he was so excited about getting onto the ground ( there was no interchange back then ) he simply charged off the bench and did not see Healy. He also told me that today  a player would be suing the newspapers about some of what was said in the stories. He then added he was fairly sure that we are not  better off today. Just suck it up and  get on with life.

Ridley and Bluey had a good deal in common - both on the field and off the field. Great pair - boy, we could do with some of that quality smaller stuff right now!

Another premiership player has departed us.

If we're not careful, we may just end up having no surviving premiership players. Hurry the [censored] up Melbourne.

I know very little of the players from that era but how sad is that notion that there may be no passed premiership players left alive if we ever win another.

RIP Mr Adams.

Met him once, had an Uncle who lived in Richmond for years, ( This same Uncle also knew Wayne Gordon who I also met) Anyway my cousin and I used to have kick to Kick at pub near York St Richmond after our respective Dads , Uncles and my Grandmother used to congregate Every SAT NIGHT and get sloshed!

Cut to the chase ................................................................................ In fading light after a Dees Game Bluey was at same hotel having a Sarse. and came outside where myself and Cousin were kicking a Footy .... in fading light gave us sensational encouragement and ruffled hair and both became instant fans

When we had our Kick to kick my cousin was always Bluey Adams and I was Tassie Johnson!

Thanks Bluey RIP

Frank gave me my first break in business back in 1986 when he was GM of Multix, then a division of Amcor.

He was an authentic human being at every level and for those who don’t know, a wonderful  competitive and honest businessman that built a bridge between Australia and so many countries. We would travel frequently to Indonesia well before others would venture there. He made life longs friends in that country and many others.

l learn’t the value of true sportsmanship transferred to business integrity and loyalty from Frank for close on 14 years.

If we had more people with true  nuggety  values and basic humanity like this, the world would be a much happier and safer place.

Thanks for the lesson Frank.

Condolences to the family.

Sincerely

Philip Withers

Very sad to see another Demon legend pass on - condolences to his family.

I remember him well as part of a Demon team that one could always rely on to put in a strong performance, and indeed expected them to win each week and each year.

It must sadden him (and his team mates) to see how far we have fallen.

RIP Bluey.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
