Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We have had a season to forget and ain't that an understatement ? Yeh sure some older statesman in the side need to look at if they should continue  on in 2020. However we can't get rid of them all as we have to keep some experience with older heads.

My best passage of play today was the Hunt dribble to OMac where he collected the ball and side stepped an opponent and kicked a left foot snap from 30 metres. GOOOOAAAAL  I screamed as l inhaled my chewy and literally choked I thought l was a goner. SERIOUSLY I live to tell the story.

49 points out of 70.  Story of most of the season.  Frustrating that when we turn it over there is no desperation to get the ball back.

Thank you. Not sure how easy this is to fix, but if we can somehow in the off season address it, maybe there is hope?

Grundy seemed to be in Max’s way at every ball up, jumping into the space at the drop of the ball forcing Max to reach over him. When does that tactic become blocking?

There's a rule about allowing the other ruck a chance to jump at the ball but as long as Grundy is under the bounce/throw up and goes for the ball then I wouldn't penalise him for taking up space. The interesting this is the 1m rule now that says both rucks have to separate. If both rucks want the same position I guess they have to split it half half then fight for it once the ball goes up?

Unfortunately Preuss is rubbish and maybe someone like Vanders is injured because if I were coaching against Grundy I'd absolutely rough him up. The Eagles did it to Gawn but he was very sore after 2 big finals, that they then did it to Grundy in the granny was even better and worked a treat.

Massive congrats to the guys who are still watching this season. I stopped caring letting it put me in a bad mood since the Brisbane game.

Top golf was pretty fun today!

I see one hero has put the boot into young Dunkley. Gimme a break! Brought onto an AFL list half way through the season at 18 years of age and playing senior footy already.

The same 2L also baked Petty. Lot of upside in that young fella.

It’s pretty easy to fix all the players have to do is STOP TURNING THE [censored] BALL OVER.

Trust me mate he has a history on here as being as negative [censored] as ever. Especially when it comes to writing off 1st or 2nd years players.

If we have a win, he goes missing for days. Thrives when we are losing.

We were awful.  Collingwood were bad, but we were worse.  THis was not a game for the ages, but a game to get through.

Our defense was pretty good early.  May was top shelf, and to deny those sneaky goals that the Pies normally run through with strong defensive efforts was pleasing.

Not much else went right.  Fritsch up forward was good, but the conversion from set shots was appalling.  Did we really have 9 marks inside 50 to 3 qtr time and I think we were 1.6.  Appalling, after solid build ups.

OMac did OK.  A high half forward role could actually suit him.

Hibbard was a train wreck today.  The inability to hit a target (he had 3 and managed to kick it straight to a Pies player) was an absolute embarrassment.  Jones and Viney were well below par, Gawn was neutralised, Salem below par.

It honestly looks like a 17th ranked team Poor skills, Poor application, no idea how to work  together or what others in the team were doing.  TIme for some personnel to have a break, theme for others to be gone.  We are dreadful.

Pies will need significant talent back to beat anybody of note.  They stopped in the 4th,a dn we still could barely stay competitive.

Please, can wee win the off season and have a good 2020?

Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers. Even with the players we had out there, the game could have looked very very different if even half of those turnovers had reached their intended targets.

Partly skill, partly confidence, but partly also knowing what your team mates are going to do, and for it all to become intuitive.

Big pre-season awaits.

A massive shout out to the lady in the front row of M52. Not only was she trying to voice us supporters up during the game but she did a great job telling Pie fans to remove themselves out of a Melbourne reserved area. Something the staff obviously couldn’t give two hoots about. I hope you read DL, you were stellar on a pretty bleak day.

As for the game, why do we constantly ignore the first option? We actually have some guys that run hard to create but are often ignored.

Sidebottom or Smellybottom more appropriately on his own all game has been mentioned a heap. From what I saw it looked a coaching directive to have Jones for most of the game and Lewis in the last on the corner of the square at bounces so they can instantly drop back as a 7th defender. Poor coaching to let him run loose all day. 23 uncontested possessions and nearly 500 metres gained. He’s a good player but faark, let him earn them.

31k at the MCG today. Of which 28k were Pies supporters. How big a hit has this season had on us? We lost the Pies home game and every big crowd was an away game. Bet your [censored] Jag will jump ship. Zurich must be counting the days.

Today was absolutely horrible and I can't wait for this chlaymdyia of a year to end.

Paging @binman. Now is your time to gloat my friend. Omac's most dedicated performance in the red n' blue. Looked like a man unleashed.

Not sure about gloating but gee I loved him snagging his first goal. My only (positive) cheer for the day.

I thought his effort was first class all day. His kicking was excellent, as it usually is and his attack on the ball and tackling put some other players to shame. Played like he cared.

I really hope Burgess work on his speed over the first 10 meters because it is a big issue for him

IMO they didn't beat us, we beat ourselves. When we limited turnovers we were on top (first and fourth quarters). When we turned it over we gave up score after score (second and third quarters). And we couldn't hang in there because we kept missing easy shots.

We're clearly trying to move the ball differently, with far more kick-mark than playing on and handpassing. The problem is that too many of our players aren't good enough at this gameplan for it to work for four quarters.

Hibberd, Viney and Jones are a massive part of our current problem. All three turn it over by foot far too much, Hibberd destructively so. Viney isn't adding enough as a midfielder and Jones is really lost out there position-wise.

Hunt shouldn't be played in the backline again. He's either a forward or not in the side. Ditto Fritsch - what a waste of a season by playing him back/wing for so long.

There's some really terrible commentary about some individual players in this thread though. JKH was one of our best, Lever was actually quite good, and although I don't like OMac at all he did a better job of a tall forward/second ruck than pretty much everyone else we've tried there recently.

Gawn was down on his best but Grundy didn't dominate at all. They sort of nullified each other but that's not an unreasonable result when the two best ruckmen play each other.

Financially this has to have been a disaster season. Losing Anzac eve and Queens Birthday in the same year was a ridiculous call by the [censored] n AFL. Obvs the terrible product onfield has made it so much worse.

Two redeeming things for mine. Fritter looks god up forward and has such good hands. Petty also has good hands and loved the fact he supported fritter after he got knee dropped

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
