Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

That’s really harsh. I know hating on Omac is flavour of the month but he honestly played well today. Was aggressive at the ball, and hit targets. Considering he’s never played forward or ruck, he did well. Needs a break. He’s hardly the core of our issues.

I agree with you that OMac played honourably today, given his recent history and the nature of today's game.

The real concern for me is that this option was entertained in the first place by our limited and apologist coach, and that our "getting around" Oscar reaction was not replicated when the game was there to be won.

Collingwood shifted gears early in the second and we needed to match them. The only time our heart and unity came out was after that goal.

Brodie Grundy - a lock for AA for the second year in a row had 16 disposals at 38% efficency.  He got three of those disposals when Gawn was off the ground.  Gawn got 13 at 62% and kicked a goal, and had a lot more hitouts to advantage.  Neither player was as influential as usual and I'm not saying Gawn was in out best players but I think to say he was flat or out of sorts is a stretch.  It's AFL and you can't be BOG every week.  These are the two best ruckmen in the league and it was a good battle which ended up even.  Petracca showed great energy today, Fritsch is a forward if ever I've seen one - just a shame he couldn't finish off today.  Once again, too many turnovers.

Plays unaccountable footy, 1 tackle in 2 matches is unacceptable.

I have watched him at a few matches and all he does is peel off his wingman (ie Sidebottom) to hang off the back of packs trying to get cheap kicks.

4 tackles in the last 5 matches. More clangers than tackles this season.

He's a club legend but unfortunately if he doesn't take the pay cut, which should now be more than before, he's gone.

Gawn looked a bit flat at the end but so did Grundy. I think both of them were exhausted after battling each other all day. Clearly they are a step above the other rucks in the league.

I have no idea how Baker, Wagner and Dunkley get games. Putrid.

Midfield is incredibly ineffectual. Oliver had 29 of the most ineffectual disposals I've ever seen.

Salem has gone from an attacking weapon to a deer in headlights.

Hibberd and Jones look gone.

Hunt can't tackle to save himself.

Positives were MAy, Fritta (despite the poor kicking) and Petracca. Plus Oscar played his best game of the year!

I know players will be traded at the end of the season but can we trade the coach????!

As for the trading of players before next season, I think we will be unable to trade anyone who has had something to do with Goodwin. No-one will be interested in picking up a player who is scarred for his football life. As for trading Goodwin, what in Heaven's name would be the reason to secure him as a coach?

Do Adelaide need a new coach?

Disappointing we couldn't keep the scoreboard ticking just a little in the 2nd and 3rd to make a game of it.

But it is what it is.

The same errors keep occurring and we'll likely keep occurring until the side gets a fresh start next year.

The midfield is so one paced they are forced to drop the wingman at centre bounces to stop a quick burst out. No issues with that plan. Apart from a drop off in intensity in the middle quarters when Oliver was off or forward and Viney got tired they did a pretty decent job.

We just have to get in about 4 fresh bodies in around the midfield mix who can make smart decisions about how/when to run, can lay some tackles and can keep pressure up.

Forward line did about the best they could. Fritsch and Petracca looked excellent but were supported with stuff all. The defensive aspects are a mess. Kick outs the most excusable that there's no plan at all.

Backline - mostly did ok against an undermanned forward line but still a lack of cohesion and trust with the talls. Lever kept getting dragged deep because the midfield and forwards couldn't hold position. Hunt can't lay a tackle or break a line so he's not valuable down back even though we need someone with pace. Hibberd's lost it. Jones has lost it. Salem's going through the motions after carrying the backline pretty well for about 15 weeks.

This isn't fun or good for anyone but it is what it is and we've just got to get through the last 2 weeks. Hopefully May's injury isn't serious. Hopefully the way Petty's carrying his shoulder isn't serious and it can all be over soon.

Think both will end up All Aust again this year

Gawn won't be. Too many good mids and even though it was a bit of a 0-0 draw today they'll give the points to Grundy, call it a split for the year and give him the spot based on games where he racks up a bunch of handballs and uncontested marks on the back flank rather than doing his job and getting down the line.

We messed up the Lever trade. Injury prone player who can’t kick.

Ha! You are trying so hard to make this stick, aren't you? Despite everything, you just want it to happen so, so hard.

You're wrong, of course, and Lever was excellent today, but it's just a bit sad watching you trying so hard to make this a thing.

I feel like giving you a couple of little pats on the head while reminding that there are people in your life that still love you.

Chin up, sport.

Grundy seemed to be in Max’s way at every ball up, jumping into the space at the drop of the ball forcing Max to reach over him. When does that tactic become blocking?

Gee had we played half a game of footy in those second and third quarters we may have pinched that.

Fritta was very good, along with Petracca and Oliver, JKH and OMac put up decent efforts.

Shocking turnovers from Hibberd, Melksham and co.

Viney, hmmmmm, what has happened to Viney? He used to be an absolute animal.

Well I can only say that was as shocking performance as I have seen all year. There was no heart in it and some of our skills were , shall we say, tasteless.

At least there is a meter and a half at falls.

It was our older senior players who let us down today, i speak of Jones Viney, Melksham, Hibberd were all simply horrible.

Viney and Jones can [censored] off the captaincy while we are at. Viney is a ordinary footballer! I loved Lewis death stare and shake of the head when he got holding the ball.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
