Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Not sure if you have answered this one already but was Elliot the second free agent you were referring to in earlier posts ?

I haven’t seen a lot of Greater Waste of Space games to be honest, but Saturday nights game was a Cracker, except for Tomlinson, who was just awful. I hope he just had a bad game. we need real recruits, not the usual NQR opposition cast offs which has been the norm for so long. (Craig Turkey, The Cockatoo Collins twins, Tom Gillies, Shannon Byrnes as a few examples)

Maybe he has checked out of the Franchaise already, which would be a bad sign.

Finals maketh careers, attitude is what we need, the rest can be taught.

i hope he plays in the Preliminary Final to redeem himself, i will be watching him closely

He's not in the best 5-10 players you'd have in any team, but is a very hand 15-22 type guy, a real role player. He's also not a cast off either, the giants want to keep him but he's been squeezed out because of the re-signing of Cogs and the need to have cash for Cameron and Whitfield next year. Certainly wasn't his best game, but I wouldn't be judging a player off 1 game alone.

That was the 8th final he's played in if that's the only criteria, and he was probably GWS's best in the 2017 prelim.

what he did 2 years ago is irrelevant now, but what he didn’t do on Saturday concerns me.

No doubt he had a shocker, no debate there. But you previously said that finals maketh careers and that you don't watch much GWS, so trying to give some context to what he has achieved in past finals is relevant. If you're just going to argue about the only game you've seen him in, then really you're a bit irrelevant to this discussion.

You're a funny man, WYL.

what a player does season to season is one thing - Form

Club Culture is a cumulative thing, it grows

55 years of no success defines the Club at this point.

What Tomlinson did in 2017 is irrelevant, his form on Saturday was putrid. i hope he gets a chance to redeem himself

not when a player plays so poorly. his past form is irrelevant in that situation.

But that is my opinion

The example of David Warner is rather apt right now.

His form prior to 2017 is completely irrelevant to his output in the ashes series just completed

Yeah so true. If Dangerfield has another poor game by his standards then I don't rate his as a footballer. What he's done in finals in previous years means nothing ey SWYL..

The current group at the club is defined by the time they've been there and what they've done in that time.

That's a pretty ordinary comparison, cross sports normally are, but plucking out a guy who was suspended for 12 months then came back and played badly is a stretch - Smith also was picked on his form prior to 2017, how'd he go?

Tomlinson played all 22 H&A games, but you've dismissed them and said only finals are relevant, and then only the final that you've watched is relevant. I really hope the footy club put more work and thought into selecting players/trading/drafting than you do!

the players are only one part of the Club, yes  The Engine, but they are an ongoing part of the Club...

72 Years of no success defined The Swans until 2005. those 22 players shall always be the “special ones”

Same goes for Footscray. they went 62 years until 22 players broke the drought.

i look at the big picture. September is a new Competition

Warner’s form today is irrelevant now as to what it was. it has nothing to do with different sports. it’s pure psychology. he is completely shot batting at Test Level.

Getting back on topic, i reiterate I hope Tomlinson can redeem himself next weekend

”One is only as good as your last performance”

i believe that statement to be correct, maybe you don’t

In your mind maybe, but the executive individuals at the club - the staff and players are only defined by their own careers.

What happened at MFC in 1965 has NOTHING to do with what will happen in there in 2020.

I know from your posting over the years that this is something you cannot understand.

Talk about contradicting yourself!

In one post you're saying a club is defined by its past and now you're saying "one is only as good as your last performance"!

Neither are true.  Have a think about it ...

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
