Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

So that’s it, bone Macca, not surprisingly that’s the management response, good ole boys can’t blame themselves I guess, if we have an active board of directors the only answer is to drain the swamp directly under them, it’s not a job for life you know boys.

Thanks 'The Donald'

The rots starts at the very top.

For better or worse,  nothing will change where it counts,  until the body endures more pain.

Any belief that what was done at Richmond in 2016 off season to bring silverware in 2017 will apply to MFC appears fanciful at best, delusional at worst.

It would be unfair not to give Goody a chance to reprise his reputation after a catastrophic season where his beligerent belief in his game plan failed.

This off season, he either develops some fresh ideas on how to take advantage of 6 6 6 and how to defend, or he'll go the same way  as the assistant coaches.

Footy can be brutal.

Having spoken to Macca at a couple of functions this year, l am of the view he was pushed, and l suspect l know by whom. He was passionate about getting the boys ready to play like men.

We will never really learn the truth until he speaks to Mike Sheahan in around 3 years time.

I had the good fortune to meet Brendan on 3 occasions and hear his football views thanks to the great man @george_on_the_outer

Brendan has an uncompromising philosophy on the lifestyle sacrifices, and the skills and attributes required to make it as an AFL footballer.  It's a tough philosophy that I find it very difficult to argue against - I didn't notice you doing that there either.

IMO he made an invaluable contribution to both Geelong's and the Dogs' premiership success.  His message is very tough and it probably has a use-by-date and I'm a bit surprised he was at Geelong so long, but he was a younger man then.  I've got no doubt his contribution will be key to the premiership success of our current group at Melbourne and I'm thankful for his input. I wish him all the best for the future.

Because it's written for the MFC website I can't really trust anything that's written here. It's not like the club will put something critical of itself on its own website. In other words, I am none the wiser as to whether McCartney is leaving on his own accord or not. I'm also not sure that it matters. If he wanted to leave, good luck to him. And if the club doesn't want him around, good luck to him.

Good for you

I have my OPINION

Its not yours. Deal with it.

Your opinion is as well only that

Ive also listened to Macca. Ive also spoken with people who ought to know what they're on about.

I for one am happy enough he's  going...I only wish he'd  take most of the rest of our fn useless FD with him.

Have a nice day

Exactly right. It is a small world

only a finite amount of job vacancies.

Something went very wrong this year

One of them had to go....

But he didn't keep his mouth shut.

He gave very expansive and positive quotes for a long article, something he didn't have to do.

Of course he's not going to spill the beans on politics behind the scene, but I think it's a shame you don't see his remarks for what they are - a classy and dignified exit from a bloke who's just lost his job.

I have  spoken with assistant coaches who were involved with Mccartney at the bulldogs and they have given glowing reports of him at all times.

Yes you do have your opinion but that does not mean your opinion carries any merit. I would certainly take the word of  people who were assistant coaches under him rather than accept the  opinion of an anonymous poster who most likely has had no experience of coaching at anywhere near the level of an afl club.

I don’t think it’s as cut and dried as him getting the sack. In fact, I know it isn’t the case:

It is about philosophical differences.

Goodwin knows what he wants from McCartney; McCartney thinks there’s a difference between what he wants and what he needs. They don’t agree and it means everyone would be better off not losing friendships over something like this. I have plenty of mates I’d never want to work with, and I have worked with people where it’s been better to make the change before we inevitably end up hating each other.

In this instance then, i hope Goodwin is right. Otherwise he'll just be leading us further into the mire.

Either way......................we win. Goodwin is right and we recover, or he isn't we remain [censored] but he gets the ar$e

Strangely  you arent the only person capable of speaking with people.

You too are more than welcome to whatever belief you wish to imbibe.

I really dont care what you do or dont believe.

I also dont care what weight you aplly to mine.

Macca does indeed havea track record. Suits some...not others.

I'm sorry he lost his job, but the footy world will find something for him

Macca walked away from his final year contract at the bulldogs so I think the money angle sells him short.  And was't his mfc contract at an end anyway?

My sense is that Macca is a man of integrity and knows how to weasel word things to be diplomatic if he had to.  He hasn't done that here.  In fact the opposite.

I may be naive but took his comments as genuine.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
