Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Sam Frost - Contract status

At the start of the year he would have been regarded as around 18-28 in the rankings. I suspect he has now moved to the 14-18 bracket.

We seem to be having this problem with a few players not necessarily having linear development.. ie Brayshaw and Tom Mac. Nice problem to have IF they continue on the upward cycle. With improvement in his disposal Frost has the ability to get to the 10-14 bracket.

You're understating it. According to the Demonland Player of the Year, he's currently our 7th best player and we all know that as a group, Demonland is never wrong.

Point taken however I would like to think that his ranking this year reflects our terrible form rather than his underlying ability.

Frosty brings something different to our back-line, pace.

So long as he curbs his ability to run himself into trouble, he is worth having in the team everyday of the week compared to SLOMAC, and twice on Sundays.

If true we are chasing Keath, i wouldn't mind seeing him come in at the expense of Oscar.

Surely Frost stays after his best season!

Although it is tempting to throw more first rounders at Adelaide for Keath. Get him, and that's three or four first rounders plus Jesse Hogan for our three tall defenders (not to mention about $2m per year).

Makes even more sense when the team's strength is its forward line.

Wow!

Just clueless.

Frost still has Frost moments, but he gives us a different dynamic down back with his speed and dash. If we have a Lever and May fit and healthy next year then Frost will go up another level. The big improvement for me has been his intercept marking.

Closing in on 100 games next year so another experience defender we need down back.

Must re-sign asap.

Maybe he prefers ANB at CHB.

I am not anti Frosty but I am amazed he hasn't copped the flak O Mac has.

He's not a bad player, but he makes a lot of turnovers which go over the umpires hat.... But he's not alone there.

Frost is out of contract and playing good football. He is driving his own price up and probably the interest of other clubs.

I can't see Melbourne keeping him. We have May, Lever, Jetta, Hibbo, OMac is cheap and we look better with Lewis in there somewhere. Probably bring in a fresh defender.

Other than speed and unpredictability Frost also competes with his direct opponent. There are  many, many examples of his second and third efforts and scrounging ground balls to advantage,

Compared to Oscars insipid contests give me Frosty everytime. Show him the money Please.

Reckon he would be a good wingman; reckon he is an asset at CHB. If he didn't have to double-team when OMac is in the team, he'd be a helluva backman across a whole game rather than being exhausted by the third quarter time after covering his own man and that of OMac for the first three quarters. Frosty is developing a style - it is just unconventional; he is going to be even more effective in the future so sign him up now.

Wasn't there media coverage just a couple of days ago confirming Jones has renewed for one more year?

Addendum: A quick web search suggests that Jones has yet to sign on but has apparently been offered a one year deal by the club.

He worked on his game to be able to run fast and then kick short. He may not always hit targets but its obvious he listens to what he needs to do. I am glad so many are wanting him to stay.

Frost is deadly. I love his speed, aggression, tackling and heart. I'm rapt so many others on here want him to stay at Melbourne. So do I. This is a thread that is SO refreshingly optimistic and much needed at this point in time.

Really?? Wow close on our most improved player and in a Carnage year, I'll take Frost anyday of the week. PACE, RUN, INTERCEPT MARKING, HAS SOME SERIOUS X factor. Other clubs would love to get him and if we turn our backs and Blink. Bang he will be gone. Time to resign PRONTO

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
