Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

ANB finally out for JKH which took far too long.

Goodwin sure does have his favourites.

which IMO will be a bigger problem for him moving forward than his game plan

Not much mystery. Broke his collarbone. Came back via twos. Given he didn't miss much footy it is surprising he is not in given his form rgis season. I assume it is because lever has the intercept marking role.

He'll play his role. As he did last week. He stays until may comes back as neither lever or hore can play on the big forwards and lever, and to a lesser extent hore, are poor one on one.

I wonder what Barrett was getting at when he wrote on the AFL website that Melbourne might have some ugly problems that can’t be fixed over pre season.

Good to see we are carrying on with the ridiculous changes - why change a season long habit at this point?

Two defenders come out so we bring in four forwards. I assume that means Fritsch will play back again, which is utterly stupid given his recent form. Yet we have Hore sitting in the VFL.

No issue with Oscar playing - at least he can get on the field most weeks, which is more than can be said for May and Lever.

Tim Smith must be the most fragile human this side of the bubble boy. What's wrong with him this week - broken fingernail, chapped lips? Surely he is done as an AFL footballer.

Are the club going to pull out the same utter BS about Jetta's unrelated knee injuries again? It is indisputable that we played him injured earlier in the season which led him to missing 10 weeks or so of football. We brought him back too early and now he is out again. Utterly pathetic. Put him in cotton wool for the rest of the year and get him right for round 1 next year.

Kennedy-Harris finally gets another chance after being brought back too early against Adelaide. Yet again, terrible player management. At this point he has to better value than Neal-Bullen, but why has it taken him two months to get the switch made? That said, why haven't we given ANB a different role at some point to get him more involved in the play.

I agree with most of this post, but not the bit about Fritsch. I still expect him to play forward. The seven defenders can be Frost, Lever, McDonald, Salem, Hibberd, Lewis and Jones.

Did he? What part of Josh Bruce 4 goals did Oscar play his role?

He was rubbish bin. He is only in the side because May didn't get up and we have no one else to cover him except Oscar. If May was ready this week McDonald would have been playing Casey.

Really? Why do you think then they didn't drop omac, bring in hore to play the intercept role and play lever on reiwoldt or lynch?

Give me a spell. Agree if may was fit he would have gone out (and said as much in my post) but you can't pin Bruce's goals on omac. One maybe but he got lace out delivery for at least one goal (after a woeful turnover),  omac was not on him all game and at least one was a result of lever not spoiling and if iirc another was from a throw in when Smith was clueless and Bruce grabbed it from the air and snapped the easiest of goals.

If he was as poor as you think dazzler he would not have been picked this week. They had hore they could bring in and petty (who by the way is no forward) who could go back. But they have stuck with omac.

Obviously you and many others disagree with goody but without trying to be disingenuous or dismissive he is an AFL coach, would have analysed his performance so is better placed than us to objectively assess omac's performance last week. And has picked him to go up against lynch or reiwoldt (i suspect lynch).

Believe it or not not every thing is OMac's fault.

I'm switching my mindset on this game - the year is shot, so I'll focus on:

Dunkley - great pick up...watch this boy go

Oliver - freak show time

Lever - gain more confidence

JKH - well done, young fella...played at Casey, no rumblings, just worked his butt off

Salem - baby faced assassin

Gawn - time to monster a game

CP5 - keep focussing

Viney - a skipper's game please

Compete, compete, compete

That boundary throw in was a disgrace

If they call back centre bounces due to unfair advantage, why not boundary throw ins?

Yes, maybe but Smith was not switched on at all.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
