Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Frost can be a weapon on a wing rather than a liability down back. I'm tired of his brain fades down back. He needs to watch Groundhog day & stop repeating dumb turnovers at critical times. Fritsch is one of the few natural forwards we have, so we must stop and I repeat stop playing down back.

Fritsch playing back for so long has been one of Goodwin’s many big mistakes. Dumbfounding that he persisted with him down back for so long when he is a proven forward, and one of the only players we have with the class to finish off our good work up forward.

Fritsch was played back because we were missing May, lever and Jetta four so long and Hibberd missed time as well, it was a necessity move. Now we've got some of those back he's been able to go forward.

Frost doesn't have the smarts to play on the wing, he's got speed and strength but doesn't know where the ball is half the time. He's been much better back when May's there to tell him what to do, but even in his good games he'll still cost us a couple of goals. Last night was a great example of a Frost game, took some great marks and took the go on but probably directly cost us 5 or more goals

No excuse for playing one of our only creative forwards as a defender. Red. It is a gift to opposition planning and a loss to us. It would be different if he was good in the defenders role, maybe.

Frost is growing with each game and I think he will get better as he matures.

I would love to see him on the wing to stretch the opposition, with height and pace

Fritsch is a natural forward and with our lack of quality forwards, he must play there.

We've tried Frost forward before. Not good. Let's keep him where he plays best: back.

He's had a vastly improved year, despite some brain fades and a couple of poor games.

Frost needs to take a leaf out of what Chip Frawley did. Stopped trying to do smart dinky/short kicks and just chose safe options when he has ball in hand. He has to know his limitations. Intercept the ball and then just kick it long boundary side.

I like Frost. I’ll take the brain fade (or two) each week for what he actually adds to the side. When we get some continuity from May and Lever, he adds enormous flexibility and some real rebound from our defense.

Frost’s mistakes look so much worse because the team is performing so poorly collectively.

Fritsch forward is a no-brainer now that we have half a backline again. Hopefully he stays up there with TMac and Weid.

He made some mistakes but I thought Frost was good last night.

Played mostly on Membrey, who kicked three but two of which were cheapies in the goal square.

For the majority of the game he completely nullified Membrey (who regularly destroys us) despite facing a barrage of inside 50 entries.

We can't afford Frost to be played anywhere else.

May and Frost are our only defenders capable to play on opposition key forwards.

I rate Lever highly, but he's never going to be a lockdown defender.

Omac is gone at years end, Keilty likewise and Petty has shown more as a forward over the past few weeks.

Fritsch forward is a must.

You are just being silly, par for the course on here, Fritsch played in defence out of necessity, has an opportunity to go forward now, maybe giving him a better shot as he has learnt from the other end

Rubbish. You probably agreed with barassi playing Robbie at half back too. Only on this site could someone say you are being silly for believing our most creative forward should play in defence.

I haven't seen last night's game but even if it was a career worst game from Frost I still wouldn't understand that part of this thread. He's one of maybe three players who have improved this year compared to last year.

The Fritsch bit we already know. Whether "necessitated" by injury or not, we kept Fritsch in the backline for too long. He's a forward, or he's in the VFL.

Yep, Fritsch is clearly most effective as a forward, he just has the habit of making himself useful there. Not often spectacular or genius, just keeps things going.

Frost, on the other hand... yeah I for one am not comfortable with the amount of risk that comes with having him deep in defence. But there's no doubt he brings a lot of the initiative and spontanaeity that can help keep things unpredictable going into attack. On a wing, that crazy pony has space to run around.

Frost is one of the least fit players in the team, he's a burst athlete who's best footy is down back, the idea he could do anything effective on a wing is crazy.

Fritsch is a genuine utility. He's crafty as a forward but it takes good ball movement to find him one on ones or space to lead and his defensive work as a forward is really poor.

Normally the best way to get him in space where he can win the ball in the air or link up at ground level will be wing/half back, with some rotations forward. One excellent game against the Eagles and a couple of nice goals against the Saints doesn't change that.

Fritta has got to be one of the smartest forwards on our list. His forward craft is beyond his years. He needs to spend more time forward.

Frosty has really grown on me. He still turns it over a fair bit, but he has a unique balance of size strength and most importantly speed. I don't mind him down back to honest. I think he has some value down back.

Some odd calls on this one..

Obviously Fritsch forward, but if Frosty goes to the wing maybe put Preuss on a half back flank.Only gagging.

After all, at this stage we are only hoping for a draft pick.

Better still - recruit a Lynch or Kennedy type forward.  Repeat Repeat Repeat.

He's had some ordinary games up forward, so the move back might have helped his long term future while also plugging gaps while we were short.

i posted this in December 2018. Nice to receive recognition at last.

Frosty can be a weapon. The classic 80-100m players who can run away from any opposition and drive the ball long into the forward line.  It doesn't have to be "lace out" just so long as the opposition are put under pressure and forced to defend in our forward line.

Can't kick goals from anywhere else.

If used tactically and strategically at the right times will make a huge difference to the game plan.

Frost should be tried on a wing...no doubt.  Frost reminds me of Liam Jones who would be playing SANFL seconds if he wasn't tried in another position.  Frost doesn't have to be moved, as he is surely top 10 B&F this year for us down back, but we are so one paced and easy to tackle, we have to use these dead rubbers to leave no stone unturned.

Frost should be encouraged to take them on, even if he gets tackled 1 in 6.

If he plays wing, he can run and send a chaos ball into F50.  A chaos ball into F50, means that the defenders don't even know where it's going.  That is got to be better than the disaster of 2019 forward entries.  No surprise that Weed got concussed banging into one of his teammates in the VFL today.  Our forwards have NFI about separation.

Five goals? Exaggerate much? All defenders make mistakes especially given that St Kilda with their slingshot style rely on our turnovers to score. They stack the field between the 50 metre arcs and pinpointing passes becomes very difficult. Salem who is our best kick was our worst culprit. Lever who was excellent turned it over a few times in the second half as did Frost and Jones. Without turnovers the Saints would have struggled to score. That's how they play.

I wish it was an exaggeration, however he directly handballed the ball to a St Kilda player, he also let his man run from besides him into an open goal, he didn't put a body on his man who was free to jump at the ball when it landed short, he tapped the ball when on the ground away from himself into a crowd of saints players, add to this the goals his man got from leads/lose checking. Seriously, he did some nice things early in the game with intercept marks and pressure, but he make some very very ordinary errors, and does so multiple times a game. He's a fair better player when he has May next to him telling him what to do. He's got great speed and strength which has come out this year, but opposition teams also target him becasue he would have close to the lowest footy IQ in the whole comp. That's why I think he'll be a good player in a strong defense but could never be allowed to roam the wing where he has to make decisions on his own.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
