Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

So the fact that we have had the most players unavailable week to week of any club this season, and up to round 12 (it could be still) of any club in the AFL EVER means nothing to you over-reactive clowns? The single most reliable stat to predict a club’s ladder position is players unavailable week to week, thus through a season. Not speculation or supposition....this is fact. Nobody wants to talk about it because it takes the art discussion out of the game. We are where we are because week to week we have been playing with a decimated list. Brisbane are 2nd for the opposite reason.

Gee i wonder what the ladder is for gifting the opposition 14 goals every week? Surely we're top

Wagner, Wagner, ANB, OMac & Smith hopefully won't be getting games (or on the list) next year.

You can't win giving away 85 points from turnovers. For comparison we scored 22 pts from turnovers. That's on the players, not sure what Goodwin is meant to do about that.

Brayshaw needs to learn how to use the footy instead of just bombing away and missing easy goals on the run. Another easy goal missed by Fritsch in the 3rd which turned into a goal down the other end.

Our starting forward line tonight was Fritsch, Smith, Petty, Petracca, Lewis & Hunt. Petracca is the only one we would have had there in our starting 22 at the start of the season.

The end of this season can't come quick enough, the whole club needs to reset to go again next year. I don't understand the level of vitriol on here, this year's been over for weeks.

One positive I found tonight was Petracca, he's really matured over the last 2 or so months and been a consistently good player building more confidence. He needs to learn how to stay in the game longer (stints on ball will help) and nail his set shots but I'm more confident in him now than I was at the start of the season.

suggests there is a disconnect and/or lack of intent in regards to the gameplan. In some regard it does come back to the coach. We know how good they can be because they were literally ranked 1st at one point. They are now playing and coaching themselves into the ground. Astonishing.

Unfortunately JV seems more intent on the contest, rather thanhat he is required to do with it. We often criticise Clarrie for his manic movement between contests, but he at least is trying to keep the ball moving, whereas JV wants the game to contunually stop. Because the ball is not ocming out our midfielders think they have to help it come out AND then we are undermanned on the outside.

If there is too much heat that he can’t pick up the ball then try to tap it out to advantage. No he has to eat like Jones’s used to when playing inside.

Enough is enough really. That was a depressing night at the footy and considering every week has been that is saying something. I see a few people are leaving the country, I honestly wish I was. Football this year has been a complete and utter waste of time and I say that about the league in general. I'd love to sit here and look for the positives but sometimes you just have to call a spade and spade and acknowledge that you physically cannot polish a turd.

Midfield - Slow, picks when they want to run. This group doesn't get us there, we all know it can be good but it needs tweaking and we all know it.

Wagners - Honest goers, not gonna win us a flag.

ANB - The best heatmap in football, yay.

Co- captains - Not the worst but definitely show 50% leadership each right now.

Jayden Hunt - You look ready for the footy trip mate. Token tackling, token decision making, token effort.

Oscar Mac - I've backed you a lot and will not pile on but you seem allergic to phsycial contact. Granted you played on decent forwards but seriously the effort is not where it needs to be.

Petty was a plus. I would have loved them to shift him back to Bruce or Membrey because if we were going to lose this flub of a game at least someone like him could get some good learning in whereas I don't know if Omac is gonna learn much more getting torched repeatedly and possibly could use a stint up forward.

We were great last season absolutely, but we over performed. Our list was never a top 4 list it was a 5-8 at best. This is very much about the mid tier. Everyone has list cloggers but we have too many, simple. Hard decisions to be made, possibly a trade or 2 that gets us arm in arms is necessary. We need to send the message that 2020 will not come automatically.

Decent forwards? Huh? They're average at best.

Next week it's Lynch and Riewoldt. Every team knows who to target. If Oscar plays 186 isn't out of the question.

Dimmy, I think you expressed it better than me. It's turgid footy and it doesn't benefit his fellow midfielders at all, let alone players up the ground. The closest player to him in terms of style is maybe Luke Parker but Parker works to a plan. I'll be phucked if I know what JV's plan is. And when he does get it he now kicks it up in the air sideways.

I feel JV has been praised and encouraged for his tremendous endeavour all his footy career but because of his courage hasnt learned a lot about other players and the flow of the team game. And then being made Captain which tells a young person he is well on his way to being a complete player has been damaging to his development

Just watched the entire game in under 2 minutes thanks to Foxtel’s 60x fast forward. Imagine if St Kilda weren’t terrible?

In 60 x fast forward OMac would have only looked extremely slow instead of true speed when he is pretty much at walking pace...no intent, no idea

Yes, no doubt. But that is evidence in favor of Webber's completely valid argument, not refuting it.

Thanks Webber. Good to see some people can see sense through the red and blue mist.

I hope like hell the optimists are right and next year with a fit list everything will be bloody hunky dory again. God I hope you guys are right. What the hell do we do if last year was the aberration and 2019 is normal programming resuming?!

Start scouting Hobart for training facilities with room for MCG-sized oval, pool, gym, offices, social club and conference facilities.

Carry on as normal. Rework our posts from this year. Couple of name changes depending on whether Oscar and ANB are with us.

It’s pretty sad when you arrive at the point where you are that starved of sporting team supporting success, where you almost wish your team would just shut the doors and put you out of your misery..

I’m almost at that point with the MFC. After 43 years of ups and mostly downs, the adrenaline injection I got during finals last year turned me into a success starved junkie....now Im chasing a taste of the good stuff again...

I fear I’m not going to see it again, at least in the short term.

It really does ruin my weekends. I wish I didn’t care so much...

Whatever floats your boat. Go and join the old ducks that used to clap the boys off after the hidings we used to get week in/week out.

You can spin stats any way you want. We were putrid. End of story.

Putrid? We lost by 3 goals and that only blew out from a neck and neck game in the last 10 minutes. Saints aren't the best team going but to act like we got hammered from pillar to post is garbage. Save that for next week when it actually happens

Well next year we will probably go back to the 1:10 games, have more on foxtel and not be on free to air as much because of our stupid season.

Won't the AFL and 7 be rapt in 3 weeks time the friday night game is us v sydney.

Oh well at least i have the melbourne storm as my backup team to lean on. At least they provide me with consistent finals appearances each year.

To be fair the margin flattered us. Their goal kicking was all over the shop and we gifted them 14 goals. I mean if that’s not putrid I don’t know what is.

What frustrates me is I thought we played really well last week against a quality opposition that I expected will eventually win out (and we had players down on the bench). To back it up with this stinker of a performance against a club who, lets be honest, are just as crap, is depressing.

How many more years will that spud Bruce tear us a new one? I swear he is only an AFL listed player off the back of his games against us. He is a modern day Kent Kingsley.

That's hilarious. You're one funny guy.

We dont have enough members to lose  them through total ineptitude fin the club. There are plenty who won't renew or follow the club and that'll make you happy? Totally stupid.

Makes it easier to get a Grand Final ticket next year ;)

Apologist number 2 rears his head.

You clearly didn't watch.  We were putrid. Gifted them 14 goals. We were 3 goals up after 3m and were hammered in nearly every stat.

CROSSING THE PICKETT LINE by The Oracle

Melbourne’s performance in losing its Round Zero contest in Sydney has certainly caused the club, the coach and the players to come firmly under the watchful eye of the football world and exposed all of its aspects to a microscopic lens.   Much of the commentary surrounding them has been less than complimentary and, while some might argue that this is unfair after only one round, leaving aside some of the scuttlebutt that surrounds a lot of the discussion around the game, a fair amoun
