Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Was just looking at the kid's stats today. It's quite uncanny; Kos has almost perfectly matched his total output from last year (14 games) in a number of prime statistical categories over the seven games to date (while doubling his goals).

Stop hyping up players. Love Kozzy.
He is exciting. Love his pace. Unfortunately he was ineffective tonight. All flash but no impact.

He was flying for marks against Brown and Jackson. Needs to remember. Crumb the pack and get Goals goals goals.

Jeez the second year player had an off night, stop the presses!!

Was bound to happen and I’m not surprised it was against the Swans. They have a knack of putting certain players off their game, still had to important involvements even if he wasn’t his electric self.

Harry Cunningham was playing a hard tag on him and played it well. This is something Kozzy will have to get use and I'm sure he would have got some real learning experience out of it.

Ineffective? Are you serious?

He and Spargo are in the heads of defenders now and it is partially why we have the best defence in the game. Again he was a leader with his pressure and his 6 tackles.

Not to do a drive by but Fritsch was ineffective.

Kosi doesn’t have bad games because he gives so much on the defensive side of the game.

Just to add to that, the fact one of the top 4 clubs is already tagging a 19 year old in his 2nd year is an absolute credit to Kozzy to how influential he is already on the AFL comp.

Kozzie didn't have his usual impact on the ball but he kept the Sydney defenders occupied and applied plenty of pressure without the ball. His forward pressure is elite.

I don;t like his staging and flopping around. He needs to cut that out of his game. I think it's counter productive because once you get a name for it the umps won;t pay free kicks that are there. He's young and still needs mentoring so i'd like to think Maxy or Steven May have a quiet word with him and tell him to knock it off.

The more I see of this young man the more I love him. I haven't watched the game yet but on the Highlights I saw how he called his shot for goal 'touched' straight away. Kudos to him for that.

I also noted last week that he held out his hand to two opposition players and helped them back on their feet. That's the kind of sportsmanship I really respect.

Agreed, part of me says you’re going to get some bad calls go against you so take the lucky ones when they come but good on him.

Would’ve been very interesting to see if he hadn’t of owned up to it whether the ump would pay the goal.

On the one hand, the honesty is admirable but having played a lot of cricket, one learned not to 'walk' simply to balance out the times you were given out for 'missing' the ball.

I assumed the calling it touched was more about getting set up defensively because he knew it would be revealed to be touched anyway, and keeping everyone focused instead of wasting energy getting around him. He knew he wouldn’t get away with claiming it.

I’m happy to give him the sportsmanship credit too, but I think he was just applying common sense.

A wonderful act of sportsmanship !!!!!!!!! He signalled touched BEFORE the goal umpire and third umpire made their call . Can they go on his call ? Not like Gilly were he can walk before an umpiring decision .

I also saw him TRY and help the two players up but believe one was a Dee . The two players were much bigger than him and I don't think he helped much . I had a good laugh and loved it . He has Eddie Betts personality , Davey's tackling ,the Wiz's marking and the magic of Rioli .

Was right behind the goal Gonzo and it was a Bloody ripper . Love yelling Weeeeds ( was in the outer ) but no Ringing of the Bell before the game . Missed my AC/DC !

I love him, but his set shot at goal is utter trash. Don’t tell me this kid can curl a ball 189 degrees from 87 meters out in torrential rain over his right shoulder but he can’t kick a regulation goal. Choco has to sort that out quick smart.

I think he can barely make 45 on a set shot so he misses a few going for extra distance...

Just got a Melbourne Comedy Fest email... anyways

Not 100% this belongs here.

If you're in NT or Brisvegas - or keen for some winter warmth.

Go wear your Demons Guernsey/Jersey/Sarks with 36 on the back and support the old man.

A brilliant article by Pete Ryan explaining a bit of background on Kozzy and where he's come from. Nice little cameo from Aaron Davey as well.

Interesting statements of clarification and tempering, at that, too. We need to watch for him more carefully to find credible potentials.

I'd like us to us pick up another Guy Rigoni. Absolute pace just wouldn't matter as much, then. All skills come into play, including rugged reception and delivery of physical contacts and opportunities. In a terrific team, Guy had it all and was a main attacking contributor down the midline, out along the flanks and in close melees.

Absolutely. Can't see Caro ever writing such a positive piece about Melbourne!

As for Kozzy, he is truly an inspiring young footballer. Must be have been devastating for him to lose his Mum at the start of the year. And kudos to his Dad who sounds like he went through a bit of rough patch himself when Kozzy was a toddler:

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
