Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Tried a new outlook today, because watching the Dees - win, lose or draw - just put me a foul mood through resentment of a wasted season (and it is, it just is).

A goal of having 9-10 season total wins, or even 8 and a better % - would be considered a good achievement from this point onwards, considering the huge adversity we've faced.

I haven't enjoyed a Dees game like that all year tbh. Was good to ride that rollercoaster, despite the loss. I even didn't hate the way we played. We lost? Ah well, the season is [censored] anyway. It's all about what we can achieve from now, not about what we lose.

It was close but the Doggies hunt just seemed that bit better than ours, we were rarely breathing down their necks they way they were with us. Kinda story of the year. Great to see Petty do so well forward, he's such a natural footballer

The ridiculous play on all at all costs is ruining any level of composure our players are so desperate for.

The game plan stinks and we haven’t got the cattle anyway.

The levels of frustration I peak to watching this team play football is unhealthy.

This club is the the reason I drink alcohol.

We genuinely have no skills. Defensively we are appalling. They had a man down for most of the game and we dominated hit outs and yet here we are, week after week, with the same issues.

As for the coaching, Dunkley untagged for 3 quarters. Lewis in the middle despite his refusal to tackle. 3 players all going for the same aerial ball time and time again and nobody staying down. Loose and accountable all over the ground.

I am beyond exhausted from this season. Yes we have had a shocking run of injuries, but our skills and game plan continues to disappoint.

Need to make some serious changes in the off season so we don’t miss this window.

From a neutral perspective it was quite an enjoyable game. But as a Melbourne supporter I shake my head at the lack of skills and smarts.

BT frothing at the mouth saying Bulldogs are building momentum. What the hell? They are rubbish. They won't do anything in the finals, IF they make it. Melbourne were worse. Threw this game away with poor kicking for goal, again.

Smith dropping the ball cold without being penalised was a fitting way to kill the game.

I don’t know if the solution is full time umpires or tougher reprimands for poor performance, but umpiring like that makes a mockery of the sport.

The club absolutely must ask for an explanation about the Gawn frees. A disgrace.

Severely lacking:

- clean hands

- QUALITY players

- bloody teamwork - work for each other!

- goal kicking

So frustrating and tiresome to watch week in week out.

AFL is ruining our game with the inconsistency of the umpires. That combined with our performances really puts me off the whole thing something shocking.

Agree - they are kidding themselves if they think they are finals contenders.

Six years in to the latest rebuild.

Dub administration. Anyone who thinks this year is a blimp needs their head read.

Dud coach- the concept of coaching is not all about game plans it is improving players weaknesses both in the area of skill and mental approach.

Dud recruiting

Too many dud players.

Harry Petty > Tony Lockett.

Fair effort given the form the Dogs are in and the outs that we have.  You can see the potential in our side, we just need to get the cattle on the park at the same time.  It will happen.  Someday.

Watch us roll the Weagles up in Alice next week when Petty kicks 9 on McGovern.

My kneejerk reaction is that Brayshaw is tradeable and ANB certainly is. FFS play Bedford and see what he can do and Petty had a break out game.

It was a good game in particular aspects for Petty. Just needs regular games to balance his contributions.

as the song says... always look on the bright side...

they were nearly at full strength and beat Geelong a few weeks back whereas we had ?? out and we nearly won.

Big positive in Petty and we got a game into Preuss.

2020 wise it was better than the win last week.

A good effort marred by too many stupid mistakes and non contributors.

I don’t know how Hannan can look his team mates in the eye. Fritsch needs a kick in the [censored]. ANB is consistently in the oppositions best players. Jetta is a real worry and you can’t have 2 pensioners in the same side - Jones and Lewis.

Not great today, some positives though. Petty was good up forward. Salem was his usual reliable self. I liked some of Hunt's run. May was solid, he had an immense 5 minutes at the end. The problem was these guys didn't have enough mates helping them out. Why was Dunkley left unchecked most of the day? What happened to a good old tag?

That was a 2015 Roos era-esque performance. A weirdly good-bad performance. There to win but never truly winnable. Looked good yet bad at the same time.

Anyone that thinks we haven't regressed has rocks in their head. We played like a team with the end of the H&A in sight.

Our skills are horrid. Our gameplan is predictable. We took one step forward on 2018. We've taken three steps back in 2019.

Brayshaw looks like an average VFL play.

Oliver looks like he's been Melbourne'd.

We have no forward line.

Our backline is dysfunctional.

We lost Tyson yet have ANB and Brayshaw to pick up the slack for useless possessions.

Jones and Lewis are hopeless.

We were solid for 2 quarters but utterly pathetic in the 1st and 4th.

5 tackles to 25 to start the game.

Thrilled with Petty's game. And yes, May has officially won me over. Showed more desperation, intent and care for the club than Hogan ever did.

Agree re both those points. May especially was everywhere in the last quarter and tried his heart out.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
