Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Don't ask me. All I know is that Coaches said last year Max was too dominant and they would talk to the umpiring department and the next thing you know there are 5 frees against him in the Saints game. Those frees have never been paid to him or against any other ruckmen since.

The we see one umpire pay 2 more of the same that were just plainly wrong. One was a gift goal  when we were a chance to win and then we lose by 8 points.

That incident in particular really infuriated me.  It was clear the umpires changed their interpretation on the rule and were out to clamp down and get Max on that rule that day.  So poorly managed.  Instead of some kind of mid week or pre game breifing, they just unleashed on game day to the clear disadvantage of Max and the MFC.  Was absolutely disgusting.

The AFL play such favorites when there are these interpretations on the fringes that impact on and/or are taken advantage of by certain players.  Think Selwood milking head high tackles for years and Buddy Franklin being able to run off the line during his approach to goal because of his 'natural arc'.

I’m surprised Maxy hasn’t copped a fine for the big boy comment.

I don't think the AFL would want to bring the football world into disrepute by doing that.  I think even they are attuned enough to realize that big Maxy would have the weight of the football public behind him on this one.

i'd call a block using your body

using an arm would come under shepherding,  holding, chopping or pushing.....but not a block

reading those appallingly worded ruck rules i can only think what a joke

the afl just seem totally unable to write the rules of the game adequately

Have to be written inadequately in order to allow inconsistent interpretation.

It's tempting to believe that because if they were serious about having clear rules they'd get a team of lawyers to re-write the laws properly to clear up inconsistencies. Because of the nature of the game, there will always be difficulties, but there is no need for the current mess.

Even getting a copy of the rules from the AFL is not easy which seems to imply they don't want fans discussing the actual rules and comparing them to what actually happens.

It would be “interesting” to scrutinize the Sportsbet accounts of everyone associated with the running of the game.

However I guess there would be far too many aliases and mates accounts to do this thoroughly.

Talking of which I wounder what the odds would have been for the MFC to finish bottom 4 this season back in January?

Bloody disappointing the club has made no attempt to get this clarified by the AFL, registered no complaint. Umps nobbling our greatest (only?) asset.

So here we are, yet again, wallowing in the swamp at the bottom of the ladder, where we've been for the fifty years I've been a supporter.

Lighten up Jara, we have played a few finals and even Grand Finals in that time, so not in the swamp at the bottom of the ladder for 50 years.

Opposition rucks are allowed to jump into Max 3 seconds before the ball is available to be tapped but that's OK.....

what other club would sit back ?? You reckon Hawks? Filth ? Windy Hill ? Puddycats ? Norf ?   I doubt it ..Demons.....for sure.  If there is anything you could safely put money on is we do NOTHING

If Goody gets asked about it later this week I reckon he will say they would have asked or Max would have asked for clarification.

The whole point of kicking up a stink and playing the game in the media s Eddie or Scott or Jeff etc would is to put that idiot Dill Gil on his back haunches and put the league on notice we simply aren't going to accept this. Thats how you do it.

Oh yeah, that's right. Couple of grannies. I went to em - knew we were gonna lose. I'm happy enough with life in general, but that's in spite of, rather than because of,  the team i was born supporting.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
