Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

So we are going to bring in Nev - Slow and slowing and underdone, Lever - Slow, underdone, Max - Big and slow, keep Pruess in, Big and Slow, with Weid, Big and slow. plus we expect ANB to be the small forward.. which he is nothing like a small Fwd.  against The dogs who are quick and on a really fast deck.

Why are we rushing Jetta back in? I

If Jetta comes in, it will be in the expectation that he is fit and has enough k’s in the legs. I still don’t understand why people automatically conclude “rushing back” when the club doesn’t apply conservatism upon conservatism upon conservatism.

If Jetta comes back in he'll play deep back and it will push Hibberd and/or Frost higher up the ground to the role Petty or Hore were playing and Fritsch on a wing. That means more speed where it counts. It looks like it's either Jetta or Petty, it's not like there's a quick back flanker on the list ready to play.

Preuss and Weid will play on Trengove and Cordy, it's not like they're up against smalls. Hannan and Hunt are really the deep smaller forwards and have plenty of pace, they just don't provide consistent results. ANB has the right physical tools to play as a hard running half forward, he just often fails at the skills.

I'm far more worried about what we'll do with Lewis who won't have the speed or physicality to mix it with the Dogs mids. I guess he'll sit out on a wing opposed to guys like Lipinski and Hunter, but I'm sure the Dogs will send speed his way.

Thinking about it instead of dropping Petty at some stage they have to at least consider dropping Hibberd don't they? He's been really bad for most of this year. Butchering the ball, letting opponents slip out of tackles or contests and not providing any leadership or composure. Obviously he's had some injuries as well and he's still capable of some very good efforts including a clutch spoil last week late in the game but it wouldn't shock me if he made way.

Agree. With all the carnage this year Hibbo has flown under the radar in terms of his performance not getting much critique. In addition to the issues you note he has lost yard of pace (probably a combination of his injury issues and age), which takes his main weapon away and he often sell teammates into trouble with quick release handballs.

I'd love to  see frosty given a run on the wing where his pace and attacking bent  could be real weapon and his horrible short kicks not so much a risk of an imneciate goal to the opposition.

Frost no good on the wing. He's great when streaming out of the backline because he doesn't have to worry about whats behind him. Play him on the wing and it adda another direction he has to think about and then turns into a headless chook.

If he's ready, why limit him to playing a half game of VFL last week?

I tend to agree.

What I would like to see though is Frost given a bit more license to be a bit more attacking and break lines with his run some more.  With Lever, Jetta and May down back to steady the ship a but more it might just allow him to do just that.

Having said that, I think with May in the side, it has freed up Frost to use his pace to run off his man and intercept the ball more, which is pehaps a more conservative, safer and predictable way to exploit his pace.  10 marks last week was a great demonstration, but not an isolated example by any means.  ...but I do love it when he cuts loose and takes players on and it can create great scoring opportunities for us when it comes off.

Would really like to  see some more of those 60m barrel goals he can kick as well!!

I love what Frosty has done this year. Under Steven May's Tutelage I hope he develops some Mongrel as well! Yep he makes mistakes But they are lessening with every outing!! Remember a guy called Gary Cowton?? And our very own Rhino Richards?? Frosty is not unlike these guys and at some point in Crazy Horse's case they may win you at the business End of the season.

My second favourite player behind Clarry Choo Choo is FROSTY!

MFC site said 3/4s ge time and then given extra running as well.  But I hear you, I'm a little confused by the contrast in Demonland and MFC messaging.  We will just have to wait and see I guess.

Either way, eill be great to see him out there again - We love you Nev.

Frosty has more than enough agreression and mongrel in the way he plays.  Best thing he stands to learn off Maysy is some more footy smarts.

But otherwise I agree Picket.  Frosty has been a favorite of mine for a few years now.   Say what you will about his haphazardness, but the guys always has a red hot crack at it.

Gawn, Lever and Jetta all in. This could mean Petty is the unlucky out regardless of concussion

Against Carlscum, I liked the way Petty, when beaten for a possession by his opponent, generally man-handled that opponent with confidence and some authority to 'the extreme letter of the law'. He does not look strong but can obviously apply it.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
