Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Salem has been our best, for sure. And by some margin. But has had a couple of games where he was off his game.

Hore has played well every game I reckon.

Wasn't Hore dropped earlier in the season?

Nevertheless, and more importantly, Hore has been a great recruit for us. It's obviously a shame he'll be out for the next few, but he's already done enough to be our best first year player.

If Jetta returns I wonder who would have made way for him should Hore not have gotten injured. I suspect potentially Lockhart or Dunkley. But would have been interesting. Hore has slotted into Lewis' and Bernie's role rather well.

Think he struggled in his first game and was dropped, which led to a couple of posters saying he was no good and would never make it. Since his return he has been great.

Fritsch forward to replace Tom.

Gawn back in his usual brilliance. 2 weeks for a sprained ankle is about right.

Keep Preuss in. He’s a great mark and a long kick. He had a good game today.

Lever to the backline to replace Hore.

Maynard or Jordon in for potential and development. They did well at Casey. The Wagners are just no good.

I still think that the Wagners can further develop given further opportunity - moreso than some whose opportunity opportunities have yielded very little in a developmental sense. The Wagners are mobile, for starters, and at different times in different ways, get the pill and use it fairly well, fairly consistently. I'd expect that their stuff-ups will wane somewhat as their own processes onfield automate.

I've said before that I would prefer Jordon gets a call up.

JKH deserves a run on form and Jordon has shown enough in recent games to put him ahead of the Wagners to my mind.

Must be getting close.

Assuming Gawn plays, is Preuss a certainty to keep his spot considering they're so reluctant to play Gawn and Preuss in the same side?

In - Lever, Gawn

Out - T Mac, Hore

Jetta to have another week at Casey (IMO) considering he's missed 10 weeks and didn't even play a full game at Casey on his return.

JFK would probably be border line. He probably didn't deserve to cop a bullet after the Adelaide game considering he was only promoted for 1 week after a long lay off, and has regularly been in the best for Casey.

Jordon's put up some high disposal games since shifting from the backline to the midfeld/forward rotation at Casey, but I'm not sure that means he's anywhere near a debut. With a late December birth date, skinny frame and limited TAC exposure he'll probably be better off just playing the year out at Casey. He's not going to get midfield time in the AFL team and we might have enough backline options for the rest of the year. Maybe if they give Dunkley a couple more games and if he then goes back to the VFL you could give Jordon a go but too many young guys at once if they haven't really bashed the door down at VFL level is a recipe for failure.

In: Gawn, Lever, JKH

Out: TMac, Hore, ANB

I noticed in the Carlton game and (IIRC) the Freo game, ANB was on the bench at the end of both games. That tell's me that when both games were going down to the wire, with players fading fast; the player with the most run, who covers all the kms was on the bench (only one spot on the bench for the Carlton game). Speaks volumes to me.

BBP - that was with Tom there too ... now I would see it as a no brainer (which doesn't necessarily mean it will happen though).

Gawn, Lever and Jetta all in. This could mean Petty is the unlucky out regardless of concussion

I took his comments to mean Gawn will be in, Lever and Jetta not guaranteed.

Exactly the way i took it.

Gawn and Lever most likely to be our only changes for Tmac and Hore.

Jetta another week at VFL level.

Possible but so far this year he's usually been pretty up front to say when best 22 players are going to pay vfl. Usually when they've said available they mean they'll pick them in the 1s. Unless he is suggesting that Jetta is not a walk up start anymore

Have a mate who's a Casey regular and he was saying Nev told him at the game that he would play another 1-2 VFL games as part of his preparation. Obviously things can change quickly in footy, but my personal opinion would be he should play another 1 at least. Only played a half last week.

I took it to mean they’re in. Lever played in the VFL and only had a minor injury to start with so there’s no way he’s not ready. Jetta was mentioned in the same breath, so I’m interpreting him to be in similar condition.

In: Gawn, Lever, Jetta

Out: TMac, Hore, Petty (whether injured or not - team balance)

I know we differ on the whole injury rehab/preparation vibe, but surely playing 1/2 a game of VFL football in 11 weeks isn't enough preparation for a full game of AFL?

and it wasn't that flash a half from what I noticed... one absolute clanger of a kick and outmarked on another causing two direct goals

Very rusty I thought...

So we are going to bring in Nev - Slow and slowing and underdone, Lever - Slow, underdone, Max - Big and slow, keep Pruess in, Big and Slow, with Weid, Big and slow. plus we expect ANB to be the small forward.. which he is nothing like a small Fwd.  against The dogs who are quick and on a really fast deck.

Why are we rushing Jetta back in? I

Quite often an experienced AFL player with many preseasons comes straight back in after a long injury out, without a VFL game.

So, I don't see a problem bringing in Nev with one VFL game.  If he comes in he will be ready to play and will perform to his usual high standard.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
