Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Tribunal has shown their usual form when it comes to Downlow possibles - the maggot was apparently lying as was Christian.

Not sure which maggot you're referring to here. The umpire was clear in his evidence that it was a headbutt, and reportable. So much for umpire appreciation. The only non-biased individual involved, charged with ensuring a fair game, is completely ignored.

The other maggot involved, although more of a germ than a maggot, definitely lied saying he was only trying to 'chest' him. Absolute rubbish, but good enough to overturn the suspension, I'd say on the 'Let the stars play' rule.

So tribunal deemed the umpire a liar. Better sack the umpire then for making false reports. No integrity left with regard to a match day report. If it’s not on close up camera, you can do what you like. Lockhart gave evidence to help him out too. That irks me. Other clubs do nothing to help us. Too nice.

If Lockhart supported him then there was clearly nothing in it. I’ll take integrity and good spirit of the game over a 1 week penalty for a player in a team we played the week before, making it completely meaningless to us moving forward.

Would you honestly rather see minor infractions like this relentlessly pursued and prosecuted? The game is getting painfully soft enough as it is.

I’m almost Glad he got off. We’re on a slippery enough slope with the MRP as is. I don’t want to see every single bit of aggression sucked out of the game I love.

Why are we getting all worked up over an incident where the ‘victim’ said there was nothing in it?

Headbutting someone off the ball is soft. IMO things like that deserve a suspensions despite impact. Nothing tough about it.

I shouldn't be surprised that the AFL said they were going to clean up these things and then not follow through with it.

I just don’t like our players helping out other players, given how other clubs have potted us at the tribunal over the last few years. We have had false medical reports thrown at us and so on. The umpire has no reason to lie. Walters headbutted him. So why go give contrary evidence ? You reckon the same will be afforded to us in future? No chance . Look at the May incident in the JLT. Weak underbelly, always the nice guys.

Didnt say he was tough. Vision of him trying to snipe Viney proves that wonderfully.

If Jay said there was nothing in it, I’m moving right along.

Fair enough mate, but players will always stick up for players to the point of lying. The footage clearly showed him doing it, sure might not have been a lot of force, but it's intent and the act that I would like to see stopped. I don't want my kid headbutting or being headbutted at Auskick.

I agree we don’t seem to get the rub of green when it comes to this stuff. But really, are you saying the umpire is in a position to say whether jay got headbutted than jay himself? If the umpire has no reason to lie, why should jay? Nothing wrong with having some integrity, and if you think integrity is a sign of weakness I think your metrics are a little off.

Cleared of headbutting for second time in 12 months. Walters-  "There is times where I need to watch it (technique) in future. The only reason why I lower my head is to make sure I've got that force behind me, otherwise I'm going to get knocked over."

Hmmm. Christian consulted the umpire who he said was in prime position and in his opinion it was intentional. That was the criteria Christian gave for the week suspension. Then the jury at the tribunal rules it was not intentional. So which was it?

No support given to the field umpire who was standing right next to the two players on the day and reported what he saw and no support to Christian for using the umpire's statement to come to his decision.

As for Walters' statement, what the heck is he saying? He needs to improve his technique for headbutting? Does he actually expect us to believe Lockhart was about to knock him over? Excuse me? He falls over quite easily himself with no help from anyone else. We all saw his technique on Saturday. What a load of codswallop.

I would love to see the AFL and Christo nut up here and support the umpire by appealing this decision.

Walters is a squib.

I would be willing to put a small pecuniary wager if i could prove it, but then how does one suspend an officer of the "crown"

Only one public view of the incident, how convenient.....

Number 11 maggot will incur my verbal wrath if he doesn't smarten up, one cannot wear brown paper bags on the way out of the ground, it's a little to obvious and is only the norm at "blues" grounds

We will know part of the answer on Brownlow night when we look at the votes at round 14. If the vote tally is the same you will have piqued my interest. But I do not think anyone at the AFL would know more than a couple of votes in a couple of games, most would be guesswork as you or I would do. I will put a note in my diary to revisit this September 24th. Any pecuniary win you may donate to the club.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
