Surely Wagner is slower than Hibberd? Wagner has some useful traits, but I don't think pace is one of them.

I think Weid is tracking very well and could become the key forward to build a team around. The more games we get into him now, the quicker his development.

Its boring seeing posters still bag him as a means of pushing their 'trade the farm for a kpf' agenda (not you).

In the first quarter I counted three marks that he missed. At his level I would have expected one or two of them to be taken.

On a happier note the pack marking by Melbourne players in the last minute or so was wonderful to watch.

I am a very big supporter of Petty. He shows real glimpse of his attack in the air and plays a bit like Lever with his intercept marking and spoiling.

Wonder whether he is worth a shot up forward?

Not sure they will play Lever this week and I agree on Petty.  The kid has heaps of upside

You’d have to go listen to Crunch Time on Saturday on SEN. Pert was on sometime between 11am and 1pm. He did not blatantly say “we will go out and recruit a key forward” but he alluded strongly to it by saying something like “obviously we’ve had some issues converting our chances. We’re getting it in there often enough so certainly that’s an area we’ll have to look at.” This was in a direct question from Kane Cornes about recruiting priorities heading into 2020. Pert’s emphasis was on the conversion of the amount of ball we’re pumping down there, not in the quality of ball being delivered. Quite possibly he means both but I thought that distinction was telling in his choice of words.

They produced a stat on the radio earlier today about Charlie Cameron spending a lot of his time at full forward this season. He’s been involved in 39 1 on 1s and hasn’t marked the ball once. It’s when the ball hits the ground he does the damage. Frost would match him for pace and agility imo.

He won’t but he is no slouch and is the best option for Cameron we have, no one else would get within a bulls roar of matching Cameron for agility and explosive pace. I do enjoy watching him play and if they do match up think it’ll be fun to watch.

Wouldn’t rush Lever.

Hannan’s done nothing since he came back and looks a fair way off it. Actually think we’re better off with Hunt in his role as a deep forward. Corey Wagner back at half forward? Or Dunkley? Stretch or JKH playing wing and use Baker/Fritsch forward more?

FFS Hibberd is just out of his second operation in a few weeks span - wouldn't rush him back either.  The incision alone, having been reopened so soon, would be painful and tender enough, let alone whatever went wrong with the inserted hardware and the bone.

An interesting stat re cameron. If we put frost on him maybe he can, with his height advantage, knock the ball right out of his area and out of that danger zone if he’s isolated there. I remember eons ago steve Smith was played on Leigh Mathews with a similar role.  Smith was thrashing him. That was Up until Mathews king hit him behind play and put him out of the game. But it was working until then!

That does not necessarily equate to looking for a tall forward - could equally be looking for a smart Eddie Betts / Charlie Cameron type crumber.

Indeed.

But also the real issue has been the kick inside 50 to our forwards. Improve that and we will convert a lot more chances. 

Draft or trade in some quality outside players who can hit a target.

In the meantime put fritter forward.

I'm a Hannan fan, but he looks to be struggling to impact and 7 touches, 0 tackles is not good enough for a wing/hf role. JKH played that role really well for Casey by the sounds of it:

Not too fussed if Lewis for Wagner doesn't happen. Lewis probably deserves it based on form, but Wags' better leg speed could be handy against the Lions.
