Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

65 forward fifty entries for 12 goals.

25 more forward fifty entries than Freo.

Not saying we will land these two specifically but if you replaced Weid and ANB from our 22 with say a Brad Hill and a Ben Brown we would be 7-6 and banging down the door of the eight. Season alive and 40,000 at the MCG on Sunday instead of the paltry 15,000 that were there.

Those are the margins you’re working with at this level of competition.

Drafting/trading decisions made this October are going to be the most important this club will make in living memory. Will we get creative and take some bold, calculated risks in order to have a genuine crack at a flag in 2020/21/22 ... or will we fumble the ball and go down the wrong recruiting path?

The backline is shaping up, the midfield battering rams are set. It’s now about adding the class and bringing in a ‘straightener’ - a true focal point up forward who can kick 50+ and put the wind up quality defenders.

We can win the flag in 2020. If we play this hand right.

I think you will be a disappointed man come end of the year if your pinning your hopes on that outcome MB.

Yes we need more forward options but just can't see us landing a Ben Brown type.

Unfortunately we missed an opportunity with Finlayson when he was shopped around for peanuts last year.

Pick 3 - 5 may just come into play Dazzler. Watch this space.

If Finlayson was getting Melbourne midfield service people would be calling him spud. And If Weiderman was getting GWS service we'd be lamenting that we didn't pick him up.

I'm hanging my hopes on Rawlings creating some space for our key forwards to work in to actually give them a chance.

Fyfe on Walters' headbutt

Fyfe argues that Walters is 'terrorised'  off the ball.  Not a justification for headbutting, especially as he has form having headbutted Dodee last year and was suspended for a week.  Hasn't learnt his lesson.

I was looking after my 11 month old and got distracted at times and may have missed it but did Viney do something to Walters to justify his trying to smash Viney cheaply while Viney wasn’t even looking at him?

Weak, p iss weak effort from Walters and he got found out.

Listening to SEN a short time ago and I was a little shocked to hear David King say that he believes Jones will lose the captaincy over his incident on the weekend. If anyone else listened in feel free to correct me, but I’m certain that is what I heard King say.

King is a former good player, so his opinions on what it's like to play AFL standard football, how to succeed as a player, are unimpeachable.

He is a numbers-driven analyst, so his thoughts on what teams are doing right and wrong are worth listening to, although I find him a bit too subservient to the numbers myself.

When it comes to the internal politics of what individual clubs are going to do or not going to do, his information is no better than anyone else's and many keen Demon supporters probably know more about our club anyway.

Meanwhile SEN have to fill up 24x7 airspace even in a slow news week.

Being a former player does not give you special insight into what a club's footy dept is/isn't going to do.

Put another way .. opinions are like shoe soles ... everyone's got two. (I think that's how it goes?)

Just for the record, in response, MR, it was a very esoteric experience, and a pleasant one at that.

The 'when' lasted for a minimal timeframe to equip the glass tumbler with two cubes of ice and to unpeel a small round of French brie.

Look at the video again. Walters made a fool of himself in picking Viney but Freo's No. 38 saw Walters coming and chipped in from behind Viney to assist in a mass collision known as a 'sandwich' that by rights, should have knocked the crap out of the lad. Well, even though he applied the crush, it was pointless and pathetic, as well. No effect on Viney and as for Walters, a sore [censored] from hitting the ground so hard after the brick wall from Viney.

The No.38 player to whom I referred - no idea who he was and not really interested enough to look it up - but his eyesight well before the dual impact on Viney was out to the right at a suggestive angle to cover the 'timed movement at high speed' of the incoming Walters.

It was as if the two of them were following a pre-determined set-up on Viney from their coach. It begs the question: why don't the match review committee experts ask that coach what it was all about? Even though it failed, it was a collective effort synchronised to maim.

I don't know exactly where it started, but there was a bit of push and shove between them earlier at a throw in, and it was from that throw in that Viney extracted the ball and gave to Lockhart for his goal. Viney then made sure Walters knew all about it

Despite a few media outlets saying NM should trade Brown for high draft picks, I don't think they're anywhere near that stage. Brown is Tasmanian born and loves playing there. I'd presume NM consider themselves ready for the fight of jumping back into the finals even this year, but definitely next year and would want way more than pick 3-5. Probably two first rounders or more. ie the offer they can't refuse.

Just can't see it happening.

I wonder how much we could offer Jeremy Cameron though. Would we be willing to offer up 1.2m per season to lure him?

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
