Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Haha looks like you're argument has run outta puff.

I'm not knocking you or your point, but I do disagree with it pretty strongly. Roosy decided his tenure was only 3 years, he wasn't shoved out he decide to leave on his own terms. What he thinks of himself and his legacy is irrelevant, it has zero bearing on any results

Nest you'll be asking me to take Slobbo Robinsons opinion seriously

I don't hate Roosy, but I agree with you dazzle.

Carlton will suit him well

Nah matey, just reckon I've tried to explain the definition of legacy to you enough times, so now you're clearly just being one of those guys on an internet forum. I posted what I had heard, from a source I've explained, and also said I can understand if people don't choose to believe me. If you want to get your knickers in a twist about that it's up to you and doesn't bother me. I'm more interested in trying to be a practical poster here than having internet willy size contests. Have a good one.

Edit - Oh and just for the sake of clarity, this thread is about Roos taking a role at Carlton, nowhere have I said his opinion has any bearings on the results for the Dees. That's something you've chosen to try to weasel into the conversation for some reason.

Roos wanted a short time and then to groom a successor, Goody was it. That’s his legacy, helped turn it around but didn’t want to finish the job and left it to someone else.. That was his choice, he was great for us and we all thank him but he isn’t part of the club any longer and you can’t complain from the shadows.

Rumour is he is quietly seething behind the scenes at what Goodwin has done to his legacy at the Dees, and that, combine with changed life circumstances, has seen him look to come back into the coaching fold.

For clarity purposes, like I've said this whole thread.

Who cares what Roos thinks. I also disagree with you're point about his legacy. It stops when the new coach takes over. We obviously disagree on this point, but one Roos left it is my opinion Roos legacy is irrelavent

Nothing against u Lord Nev lets just agree to disagree

There's a number of aspects to this...ONE)  Roos IS [censored] off big time. He grew to have a very soft spot for us

TWO) he's very much miffed about certain events that happened at Melbourne  THREE ) He would /will never return...There are impediments in his way.

Yes Roosey makes a pretty good coin. But he's quite passionate about footy. he was once very passionate about us.

The only analogy that comes to mind......"a woman scorned"    he's no girl though.   Some might get this...especially anyone who is au fait with how the club's travelled in recent years. Cheers

Ok. I have a need to be a tad circumspect  but suffice to say the last couple of years of Roos' short stay had a few surprises.  Not all went to script.

Roos is a proud man with much to be proud of. Jackson was an ignoramus to things football  but a very clever man as to business. We should be thankful  for both.

Not everyone  was/is on the same page at the club. Some have their own little game in play.

Ill ask a question  in lieu of pontificating  erroneously.  Why do you supposea person so keen on the MFC...is no longer...to the point of handing it a lesson ?  Trust me....bears considering.

Intriguing but must say I am not close enough to the Club to be picking up your clues.

I appreciate what Roos did at the club...I appreciate what PJ did a lot more.

...but honestly 'bb', the only thing that Roos is really passionate about is himself.

The Carlton move is a smart one for him, he knows they are on the way up now and he can hitch a ride and add to the aura that surrounds him.

The Sundance Kid rides again...

If it means the Baggers get 2-3 years of incremental improvements, some form of transition arrangement and a year or two of flash in the pan type performances then they can have him!

He left MMM this season because they wouldn't meet his pay demands and goes on Fox with flirtatious intent to spruik his services to the highest bidder - let's face it he's a modern day gun for hire.

This is a moronic post. Roos did a terrific job at our club and was well worth the money. He's entitled to decide who he works for and to ask what he is worth. You would have no idea what is important to Paul Roos and probably have never even met him.

I don't know what having an idea about what's important to Paul Roos nor whether I've met him has to do with anything, let alone my post. Only he can answer that and I'm pretty sure (and hopeful) he doesn't frequent DL.

Everything I stated is fact. We improved incrementally which was due, in part, to a job of work from Roos. He walked out on his Triple M contract and he goes on On the Couch each week where he gives teasing responses to Gerard's Dorothy Dixers, just as he did in 2013. I'm not sure why you're even taking issue with this and the more I think about it it's scarcely relevant.

Please don't call anyone or their posts moronic - we barrack for the same freakin' club - put your manners back in.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
