Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

As a defensive forward, not a mid.

He's not proven at any senior level as a mid so shouldn't be brought into the conversation yet...

Merely talking about him as depth. Would have played more than just the 2 games if he wasn't injured IMO, but even still, breaking through for senior games in your first year qualifies you as being listed as 'depth' in my books.

Sparrow debuted in his first year, then missed the second half of the year with injury.

He debuted due to a decent injury list, and only debuted as a very late inclusion in the side.

He can't really be considered depth at this stage, although that could change next year if he improves.

Guess 'depth' is one of those words everyone has a different interpretation on. Happy to agree to disagree, seems a common thing in footy!

To me, if you've played senior games you're depth. Coming in when there's injuries is almost the definition of depth really. Can understand where you and others are coming from, it's just different to how I see it I guess.

There’s more than one way to swim a lap.

Trade pick 3 to GWS for picks 12, 14 and a decent player. Along with pick 20 (likely Langdon) there’s more than enough cachet to go a long way to addressing the outside midfield problem.

Four inside midfielders is not an excessive number. Ideally you want a balance of four inside and four outside in your rotation.

Hi Rangey/ Matsuo,

Oliver, Brayshaw, Harmes, Viney. Swallow will get more inside game time in 2020, Jones is only of value as an insider. A leaner, fitter Trac will play in the guts too.

7 potential inside mids.

0 potential outside mids ATM, at best maybe Baker. Langdon is B grader, pick 21 indicative of this

Given Jones has just re-signed and cannot be traded, I'd say the player there of biggest trade value (apart from Oliver) is Gus or Viney. I've come around to that scenario rather than trading Trac.

if there was an offer of a top 10 pick for brayshaw i would take it

- pick 3 to gw$ for 13, 15, and wantaway vic mid aiden bonar
- brayshaw to caaaaaaaaarlton for pick 8, which carlton hold via adelaide
- pick 8 back to crows for laird, future second
- pick 24 to freo for langdon
- crows' future second to pear for amon

net result:
IN: laird, langdon, amon, bonar, pick 13, pick 15
OUT: brayshaw, pick 3, pick 24

Pick 8 is too much for Laird even with the second rounder back. He’s a back flanker.

You said Petracca would get us a pick between 8-15.

You then went on to talk about how Petracca hasn't finished top 10 in the Bluey.

Now you're saying pick 8 is too expensive for a 25 year old 2 x All-Australian and reigning BnF winner.

Not that I think Nixon is right but there is so much noise around Brayshaw that just seems to not stop. Would be disappointed to lose him though Pick 3 that is still young and although his putrid 2019 his absence would leave us too thin in the middle of the ground IMO.

Unless we could really over-capitalise on the trade I'd say no deal because he's worth more to our team and list than his true worth atm I think.

Putrid 2019 where he still finished in the B&F top 10.

Agree Big Kev, but that's just an indication where we are as a footy club.

Not surprised at all like a few others as Gus played unhappy this season & with all his family in Perth, a move there makes sense.

Good luck Gus.

If his old man takes up the Dockers CEO job I could see this coming to fruition one day - but not yet.

Of all the media I’ve seen of all the Brayshaw’s, they seem like a family with really strong values and I reckon Gus will honour his current contract with us.

Having all the kids close by is something a lot parents would love but others like the Brayshaw’s probably prefer they grow from experience of the ups and downs of life rather than the cuddles from mum and dad or his bro’s in Perf.

Mahoney put that rumour to bed a few days ago on trade radio.  I'm inclined to believe him, especially if Nixon is the one spreading the rumour.

Interesting. Mahoney put to bed a rumour on Firday that Brayshaw was seen in Freo on Saturday. Mmmmm

This week Melbourne takes on Hawthorn hot on the heels of a six-day break after its encouraging response to a disappointing season opener in steamy Sydney. The Hawks were disappointingly wasteful last week, but they also failed to bring sufficient pressure into the contest and, as a consequence, the Bombers scored goals at will. Against the Demons, a repeat would be fatal. The Hawks are still in the rebuilding phase and need everything to go right against Melbourne which is gradually b
