Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

CASEY: Rd 10 vs Collingwood VFL

MFC Listed Players (that I can think of)

Lockhart -  Had a great game. With a little more composure his kicking skills will take him further. Should be at the front of the queue as a depth player. Scope to take his game further.

Bradtke - Wasn't expecting much impact but I thought he was incredibly clean with the footy for a big guy. Shot off some nice hand passes and kicking was good for a ruckman. There's no need to judge him on his ruck work (IMO) until he puts on some serious kgs.

Lewis - Had a very good game but I suspect his on field coaching was the most value.

ANB - Did some nice things but looks comfortable at this level

Chandler - Has a crack. Goodwin would love what he brings. Coming along quite well. Not a bad kick. Is he quick enough for a small forward?

Bedford - Finding his feet still and had a great goal assist bursting out of the centre in the last quarter. Applied good pressure but will need another year or more to have more impact/consistency. Hard at it.

Petty - Reliable in defence. Not too many errors. Lack of speed is a concern but not much got past him.

Preuss - Would be happy with his game but he reminds me a little of Gawn in his early years in that he hasn't worked out how to maximise his height and size advantage. Was competitive but has no tank whatsoever.

Jordon - Didn't notice him that much. He had a little stint on ball and found a bit of it. Reserving judgement on the young fella. You can see he can kick in spite of a few turnovers.

KK - Made a few errors (rusty)  but is obviously the go to man for delivering the footy. Found a bit of it in a very outside way. IMO, might need another game or two to pick up the pace and get a bit more contested.

Kielty - Smooth mover for a big guy. I'd love to see where his game went if he could impact the game more (more possessions and involvement).

Wagner - Another solid game. Looks like this is his level.

Dunkley - Composed, good user, goal kicker. Ahead of most of our depth. Sign him up.

JKH - Works incredibly hard, no doubt still rusty and can probably work space better at AFL level. Had a good game but this looks like his gig to me. OK for depth.

Watched the whole game and it was like watchin the Casey of old last year when they were up and about.

The stand outs for me were:

Lockhart: Genuinely all round classy game from Lockhart. Attacked the contest with such speed and power and used the footy well. 24 disposals 7 tackles and kicked 1.1.. On current form you would want him playing instead of Spargo. I am intrigued what a full AFL pre season could do for someone like Jay.

Lewis: Exactly what you expect from Lewis. Was clean and just marshalled the midfield around the contest with his leadership and experience. Really liked his game.

Preuss: Dominated around the ruck and around the ground. I felt at times he missed timed his leap. But that got better as the game wore on. He was a genuine brute today and honestly after watching that performance i would bring him in next week. Not only does he draw defenders and crash packs but also follows up with his 2nd efforts and pressure. Loved big Preussy today. 19 disposal 6 tackles 6 marks 41 hitouts and kicked 1.3

Dunkley: I honestly forgot that he was on our list until they mentioned his name pre game lol. But bloody hell he was very impressive! Plays a lot like his brother Josh when he is in the midfield and cracks in hard. Campbell Brown summed it it up well when he said he just gets in the right spots in the right time. Used the ball well and has a touch of class about him. Each quarter he would start up forward then rotate into the midfield for a 5 to 8 minute burst. Play another game like that and he'll be seeing AFL action very soon. 21 disposals 5 tackles 6 clearences and kicked 3 goals

KK:  Really loved his game today and really showed out with his composure and class. At one stage he courageously ran into on coming traffic and took a great intercept mark in the middle. The big thing that stood out to me was his workrate. He used his big engine to good use and at one stage he had it out on the back  pocket and kicked 40m up the field to a contest and by the time it got there, KK had already pushed himself to help out a teammate and get a handball receive. That would have really excited Goodwin.

Wagner: He ia a genuine star at VFL level and today was such a complete performance. Used his speed around the contest and rarely wasted the footy. Going on todays form i just wish he could translate that into AFL level.

Special mentions to JKH, Petty and Chandler who all played really well also.

Bradtke was a big lump of a kid.  First game at this level, and not disgraced.  Really good by hand and foot.  Needs a lot of development needed, but I think worth the effort.  Gonna be a monster when he grows into that frame!

Very impressed with Lockhart’s game. Really developing well. Like that he can play small forward and small back - could fill the void that’s created when Nev eventually retires.

Lockhart was playing like an AFL player today.  He was better than his opponents and he knew it.  Was confident and assured throughout.

Well, clearly the football department see something in him that you armchair experts don’t. Or maybe I’m wrong and you and picket fence should coach the team?

You see, that’s where I am a little confused. Are you suggesting, in this era of the game being a multi million dollar industry and on the back of that, one of extreme professionalism, that we have a situation where team selection is being compromised somehow??? Because if it is we have a serious issue don’t we? Again, I say that the footy people see something in this young man that most on this site clearly do not

They're different types. I think Spargo needs a good long run in the guts at Casey. Build the engine, dominate games. Then he can come into the guts in the firsts when a spot opens. He's being played out of position at AFL level at the moment, and I don't think it's helping his development. Or Lockhart's for that matter. Lockhart can play that forward role, and needs to be at AFL level to bring him on.

What was KKs disposal efficiency today? He had a lot of it and I thought he butchered 70 per cent of his possessions. He did much the same in his early games this year in the AFL side. I hope he can improve in this area, otherwise I think he is going to play out the season at Casey

Seemed to do really well early, and poorer later.  His little dinky stuff didn’t work, but he got the ball and distributed it well otherwise.

Liked what I saw from Wagner, Lockhart and KK especially today - all looked a step above the rest. Petty took some pretty awesome intercept marks I thought and played a solid game. Lefau for Casey also intrigued me, looks like he has good footy nous and natural talent, one to keep an eye on maybe.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
