Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'm a fan of Weid, I think he will come good.

Out of left field, I know talls take a while to develop, but what about one of the King twins? Max King has kicked a few in recent weeks in the VFL coming off a knee reco, can see him getting his debut with the Saints soon. Ben King is at the Suns, I think he's played this year but really no idea how he's tracking

If Weideman was at another club I guarantee a lot on this board would be calling for us to chase him. We saw his potential at the end of last season, he showed improvement on the weekend barring the obvious miss.

Also people crying we've had no first round draft picks yet calling for us to trade it for a key forward this year... Please.

TMac & Weideman are not alone on their output from the back end of last year. Chill the F/%k out and give the 11 remaining games a go before calling for these changes

I'd guarantee you the exact opposite. He has been sub-par this year on every metric. He was dropped to Casey for heaven's sake.

Weid a young tall who needs time, I get it. But let's not kid ourselves that he is setting the world on fire. One impressive game at the end of 2018 does not an AFL key forward yet make.

You'd think some of our supporters enjoy watching this non-event forward line the way they defend poor performances.

Josh Jenkins - I know a lot of you will not agree, but he's a big strong bloke who presents and he's not a favourite son at the crows at the minute. Worth a shot I reckon.

Interesting suggestion MrMoose. Jenkins was very consistent from 2014-2018, kicking 40+ goals in each of those seasons. He's 30yo now though and seemingly out of favour at Adelaide but you certainly can't dismiss him out of hand with that resume.

Weideman will be hitting his straps next year. Another pre-season will do him wonders. McDonald should be good enough to play second fiddle. The thing is, really good forwards are very hard to come by. If Cameron were available we could ask the question, but could we afford him - given he will be chased by every club shall he be open to leaving GWS.

And he can train with OMAC all week to build his confidence.

And despite those great stats, unfortunately people go the lazy 'soft and kicks joe the goose goals' soundbytes for upvotes, to summarize him. Goodwin should be making a call to his manager after seeing his impact first hand last weekend.

Tex Walker?

What has happened to Tex, really strikes me as someone who could do with a change of scenery but after his comments about changing clubs he'd never go. I also like Lever more than I like Tex.

I get that many don’t agree on Patton, but he’s not the “only option”. Read the OP - plenty of names there.

If we end up with pick 5-10 every chance it will come into play for a key forward. Goodwin will be acutely aware that the club can not afford another season like this one. Jobs on the line time.

Ben Brown would be one worth the risk IMO. Are we fair dinkum or just going to play it safe from here? You’ve got to roll the dice.

We won't be using our top Pick for a Key Forward..  nor Ben Brown.  We will be after skilled runners.  All round flank players. Back, centre and forward.

In general agreement with the OP's theme.

T-mac might have been a one year wonder and gone under the radar a little while Hogan was present.

Weid has potential but might be another Watts.

If you want to win a premiership in a small window that will close in a flash you need to lay down the coin and go hard as you can after the best...

Cameron by a country mile!

So you're happy to consider players that are dropped in other teams, but don't rate Weid (or believe that other teams won't rate him either) because we dropped him?

Classy midfielder would be much higher on the shopping list. Get a mid who can deliver the ball lace out and suddenly weideman and TMac will look at lot better

We should be throwing absolutely everything we have at Coniglio... But alas, if he does move it'll be the dorks or Geelong possibly Carlton if they offer him 2 mil a year or something crazy.

If we could get someone like Patton for a bargain then I'd be happy for the club to take the risk. Unfortunately when there are other clubs interested that drives up the price, I don't want to have to out bid Hawthorn just to see him get injured.

But I still think we need a reliable small/medium forward more than we need a key. Both Tom and Sam are capable at AFL level, if not Superstars. But if we had an X-factor at their feet we night be able to start taking advantage of the 100s of times they crash the pack and cause a ground ball. Players like TMac, Weid, Trac and Melk are ok for a core but we need a genuine star in that forwardline.

I'm happy to consider anyone with proven ability at the level. I have not written off Weid but so far even the wildest optimist would agree he is unproven. The Demons are no longer in development mode. We have built and recruited for a flag not to wait around forever for a young key tall to blossom. Weideman has barely shown enough at Casey to merit senior games for Melbourne.

I personally wouldn't go for Jenkins btw but no doubt clubs will be discussing him. We can do better than him.

I will add that Weideman would benefit immensely from the presence of a new key forward in the team. As would TMac. Both suddenly get heat taken away from them and TMac is released to use his engine as a roaming forward with license to lead as high up as the wing. It's a no brainer.

We can solve BOTH the key forward and small forward issues at this trade/draft period but we might have to get a little creative.

What happened to our rich tradition of keeping an effective jackaninny parked around the goal square (Mark Jackson, Allen Jakovich, Russell Robertson)?

Bring back the lairiser. Secure the next handstander. Summon our next goal kicking goose.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
