Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Braydon Preuss: The Forgotten Man

Recommended Posts

For those that wondered why he came to Melbourne, I can only assume that he will be developed by the best ruckman in the game to take over the mantle in a couple of years.  For now, Max is king of the heap. Preuss is no challenger for the crown.  Let him develop, get a few tastes, and really get to work on his game so that he becomes an absolute beast.  There will be times he gets a run in the firsts with Max, but I think he is still 2 seasons away from really being the ruckman we want.  Preuss will be mid-20’s and fit for purpose.  Max will be ready to perhaps for the understudy to surpass him.  He is also insurance (although, atm , not brilliant cover)

Pruess becomes first ruck option if Gawn is injured

Pruess does not have the mobility to play as a permanent forward whilst giving Gawn a chop out nor is he that good a mark to play that role

Pruess does not have the tank to run out an AFL game as first ruck option

Forget the SCG it isn't big enough a ground to expose his weaknesses

You will see a trimmer Pruess next season and beyond

The VFL report on the AFL website said he dominated this week, 40+ hitouts

Except that:

- that's pretty well all he did

- he offers next to nothing around the ground (11 disposals, 4 marks 2 weeks back; 9 disposals, 3 marks last week)

- he offers next to nothing up forward (total score for the last 2 VFL matches is 1 point. Also, see above)

- we have a ruckman

- he would be given the runaround/run off his feet in the firsts against AFL-standard rucks

- North Melbourne didn't get rid of him for nothing

Give the big lad a chance to develop. Like many posters have pointed out, he’s got access to the best player in the league for what he’s aspiring to become.

he's barely fit enough to run out three-quarters of a vfl game and blows up after a half of afl

his fitness level is coming from a long, long way back

Aha! Now we are starting to hit the nail on the head.

Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick. And Tick. Do we all get it now?

you may be right but the enigma is whether in combination with Gawn the two could could be the new Bogey and Mccall.

Let's face it.. the season is gone... it's time to dance

? and then it dawned on me,

Image result for bogey & bacall

Not much of a ruck duo though.

To counter that argument. They made him play when he couldn't lift his arm above his chest. Bizarre decision. Was an incredibly gutsy effort to be out there at all. Looks like they damned him for it too. What were they thinking? Almost as bad as what they did to J Smith.

Fair call.

Not sure why people are so impatient to see him on the park. He's not exactly a polished player. If he's the answer to our forward line woes then we have far more serious issues.

I'd rather get games into, you know, our actual true forwards like Weed, Tmac and to a lesser exent Tim Smith (who I think has been contributing well when he's out there). Pruess is a backup ruckman, not a KPF.

  • Demonland changed the title to Braydon Preuss: The Forgotten Man

I'm in the Preuss camp. Small sample size, but he's created goals from nothing when we need them and at least looks close to taking a grab rather than just sticking his hands toward the ball with eyes half closed.

Keeps one defender deep. Can physically hurt the opposition. Has the ability to tap to advantage. But forget the second ruck discussion, fitness,  and VFL form - Braydon still offers far more as simply a forward right now than what Tmac currently does.

It's not like Tomald is the key to us trapping it in. We have looked far better up front this year when Tom has been absent - and while I was happy enough to overlook it before, he keeps getting in the way thinking he's some sort of extractor at forward scrums.

Would be great to see Braydon somehow go head-to-head with Cox, like in some bizarre two-metre tagging role. All we are saying, is give Preuss a chance.

Average ground ball gets inside 50 to Rnd 9.  Tom not even on the radar...Pruess @ 5.  Oh, leads our goal kicking averages also.  Not bad for an unfit wanna be who can barely play out 3 quarters.  Imagine how much better he'll be when he manages 4!

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
