Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

For those who have seen him play for Casey, what can we expect?

His first game at Casey against Werribee he was reasonably out of place - no doubt finding his feet with the team, gamestyle etc. Not to mention Casey played terribly that day other than May.

In the following games has looked right at home off a HFF with stints through the middle, sometimes in run-with roles.

He's an interesting player - no particularly stand out attributes other than a very good long kick for goal - but seems to just get to the right spots and has a positive impact when near the ball. He's the type that might get on the end of a couple of errant kicks and maybe one on the lead and before you know it, has kicked 3.

As a big bodied HFFer capable in midfield he has a chance to replace Vanders if he never makes it back. Doesn't have VDBs pace or power, but has a little more guile and craft. Can do things ANB is not capable of due to size although won't have anywhere near ANBs running capacity.

Am interested to see how he does though I will not be surprised to see him look well out of depth. We need to give him a couple of games to see him settle in.

No one has mentioned it but I wonder if Bedford is far away from a debut given our forward woes. Is raw but has spunk and has been a consistent goalkicker for Casey (well, as much as Hunt has been for MFC...)

Go Farther In Lightness
All the strangest things
Keep happening
All by my father's
Old magnolia tree
And the Sydney sky
Is rainless and sings off key
But it's cool in a weird way
That i wish I could be
It's the weirdest high
And the lowest peak
God I'm an alien
On my own goddamned street
I climb some wall
And curse out my favourite team
And stare at the freeway
Inveterately free
Go farther in hope
Go farther
Go farther in lightness
Go farther in hope
Go farther
Go farther in lightness

Best of luck young man, Have a Crackin Debut!
Cheers
PF!

Just watched Open Mike with Andrew Dunkley as the guest.

If Kyle is anything like his father and given what this family has done to support the kids' sport, I feel confident that we have a good player on our hands.

Does Jason Taylor have a fetish for slow inside mids or something ? Has he not heard of the 6-6-6 rule that requires players to cover the ground  rapidly. Does he understand that AFL is a step up from park football and that athleticism is a non negotiable to be able to make the cut. Good luck to Dunkley but Taylor needs to watch some demons games and see how slow the whole team is. Frost and hunt are the only players who have any sort of pace at all.

Jason Taylor needs to rethink his recruiting strategy this year

I didn't mention pickett directly but I went off at Jason Taylor the night kyle was drafted as he was a slow inside mid of which we had a surplus of at the time and really needed some pace, realistically anyone else would've been better

Yes.
You made a negative post.
You only make negative posts.
Then you can always claim to be right when things don’t work out.

You had no idea who Pickett even was, but now you’ll stamp your feet that we didn’t take him, as though he was the obvious choice at the time.

But I am right. Did you think kyle was the right selection at the time? I knew he was a mistake

It’s easy to say something is a mistake, without offering an alternative.

It doesn’t make you ‘right’ it makes you a cynic.

Pickett had a broken finger that was likely to rule him out for most of last year, he's still likely to move back home to be with his family, he's probably the worst spoken player I've ever heard and the Tigers have had to make special applications to get him paid enough to support his family. Not to mention his criminal past.

That might not be a nice thing to say but Richmond with their government funding to build an Indigenous centre (in Richmond for all the middle class white Richmond residents), huge supporter base with networks and in premiership contention could take a risk on bringing him over for what turned out to be a 1 game contract last year. He's stayed for year 2 but that might be the end of his time in Melbourne. If we drafted him he could easily have come and gone without playing a senior game.

John Noble was a good find for the Pies. I like Will Snelling at the bombers. But the reality is the mid season draft was a roll of the dice and Dunkley was well regarded. He's an inside mid and only an inside mid but I saw enough at Casey to suggest he's a better player than James Jordon in my eyes and could easily stay on a list. He knows how to move in traffic, is a willing tackler and he hit the scoreboard from the midfield at Casey.

I don't think Essendon are being foolish at all taking a look at him. We've had the Wanger's and McDonald's for years. Kyle's worth a shot on his own, but more than worth a shot if you can get Josh.

Dunkley is no different to the Wagner's, looked  a mile off it

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
