Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Surely none of Lever (supposedly injured at Casey today), Hibberd or Hannan are ready yet.

Fritsch goes as well if we want to play Preuss.

Nothing supposedly about it Nasher I was there the only thing to be confirmed is the degree of the injury.

For my mind it’s simple now, season is done, so make sure we are best prepared for next year:

- Don't play anyone unless 100% fit, healthy and with appropriate game time at VFL level under the belt

- Play everyone who needs to build experience and game time at senior level with a focus on learning and development. Play a really simple game plan that encourages them to use their natural instincts

- Make sure anyone who will need surgery prior to preseason has it done ASAP so that they can actually do a pre-season

- Start the search for new line coaches, fitness coach, kicking coach ASAP and get them on board immediately to maximize time to gel with the group prior to next year

- Cop the AFL fine for not tanking with good grace and move on

A good pertinent post. No knee jerk reaction, just simple well thought logic

Changes. Who cares. Only one I can see that should come in is Salem for Spargo.. How we can bring others in from Casey who, in past 2 games can not beat a stand alone team. Excuses for the Port game as we had limited AFL players but against Willy we should have beaten them if we are serious about our AFL listed players . But I fear most of our AFL listed boys at Casey are really just VFL quality players. Then again so are most in the one's !!

Ok what conditions actually suit Pruess??

Recruited for ???????? Plays several games . kicks two goals in two of them, and still in a team berefit of big man strength and physical presence cant get a game??? Spare Me

More to the point, what conditions suit playing two Giant rucks...  Ideally non slippery conditions.

Possibly Darwin at night,  is the worst conditions to go in with two beanstalks,  and one less small runner.

Preuss I think will get plenty of chancres to play 2 rucks in the run home...  and as the weather starts to warm up again,  I think two rucks will become more likely.

Anybody's in particular?  Or, maybe the whole team's?  And, would there be any particular reason for this seemingly bizarre ritual...??

Yep, hadn’t read the Casey report. JKH should be in too by the sounds.

Out: Spargo, both Wagners, Baker, Petty, Stretch. These players are below VFL level and should never play AFL again. Stretch couldn't make a decision in time to save his testicles if they were on fire.

Ins from: Salem, Neale-Bullen, Preuss, May, Lewis, Hannan, Jay Kennedy-Harris, Lever (if recovered from ankle sprain), Hibberd, Weidemann. These are AFL players.

And somebody please tell Jones to stop kicking rugby-style, up and under kicks into the forward line.

would like to see changes something like this

out- Petty, C.Wagner, Garlett, Smith, Lockhart.

in- Salem, Lewis, ANB, Weideman, JKH,

We missed some decent ball use coming out of defence terribly today. Salem and Lewis should help with that. Garlett is done and wont be missed. Weideman needs to play if he's fit, over Smith. we've had some young blokes like Lockhart and Petty play a couple of games, and now they need to go back, work on their games and press for selection again. there's a few more lucky to be holding a spot atm but they're time will come soon.

Baker looks promising, so I disagree on that

Otherwise spot on

Don't pick players returning from injury at least until after the bye

I don’t understand this? If they are fit to play there is no reason not to play them.

We need all the help we can get at this point.

Baker deserves another game - did some nice things and kicked 2. But I agree with the rest.

Fritsch won't go out, nor should he. He was one of the reasons we started to get back into it later in the game.

Some of these players aren't as far off the pace as many here seem to think.

What's going on has nothing to do with the coaches, and everything to do with a decimated pre-season + injuries, and the flow on from that.

We haven’t even hit Winter yet, and we ain’t gonna play in Sept (when the weather gets warmer).

Goodwin has erred in not bringing Preuss in sooner. He is not the panacea but he does offer some critical things for us, not least his own qualities as both a tap ruckman and big, intimidating forward who can take contested marks. When rucking, he allows Gawn to drift back as an intercept defender (at which, in the absence of Lever, he is our best). And when up forward, his mere size and presence would mean T-Mac could get off the leash a bit more. Bring him in, I say, and leave him in.

Out: Selection Committee

We lose Salem before the game & bring in Spargo...FMD

I reckon Lewis should have retired at the end of last season but even he makes more sense as a replacement for Salem.

Like many of us, I've been gobsmacked that Preuss keeps being overlooked but the dewy evening conditions up in Darwin won't suit him. That probably means he's a monty to play.

I think most of us would agree that six players have to go after that dismal first three quarters - C.Wags, Lockhart, Petty, Spargo, O.Mac and Jeffy. But of the six, Jeffy should be given one final game in Darwin as a send off.

Lever will play unless his ankle is worse than expected. Salem and ANB are certain ins if fit and Jordy was the pick of the lads at VFL level so has to come back.

Hannan didn't have a great game in the VFL I believe, so probably needs another week.  JKH is another who may need another week. Both should play against the Pies.

So my five changes this week are:

In: Lever, ANB, Salem, Lewis and a decision on which of Weid or Preuss plays.

Out: C.Wags, Spargo, Lockhart, Petty, Oscar Mc

B: Salem Frost Hore

HB: Jones Lever J.Wags

C Stretch Harmes Lewis

HF: Baker T.Smith Petracca

F: Hunt T.Mac Garlett

Ru: Gawn Brayshaw Viney

Int: Fritsch, Oliver, ANB, Preuss/Weid

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
