Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Wouldn’t have made a difference, but please can you explain to me why we traded  for him when we refuse to play him?

So we have a ruckman if Gawn gets injured.

And anyway we traded him for Dom Tyson, so it hardly counts as a trade.

Well I reckon he would have made a difference - we would have had a forward in the team for one!

We looked slow enough today without Preuss let alone with him in the side. GWS just tear you to shreds when you turn the ball over. Hardest running side in the comp (along with collingwood).

They were cleaner with possessions but where they killed us is when we turned the ball over and they worked so hard to run back through the middle and link up. They were just far too good.

The inability for us to spread and run hard for each other is baffling. This team still just looks so unfit to me.

What does you actually want him to say???

Not being a smartass or anything just dont get why you want to hear from him?

Will you  be satisfied and assured if he came out and said something?

Daz,

there are problems within, far bigger than just injuries. Skill levels and attitude that i can see.

Why do other Clubs cope with this, but the MFC always fall over under adversity??

10 Rounds in is enough time to ask serious questions...

Only if the midfield got the ball into fwd 50 but they were worse than abysmal: 16 inside 50's in the first half!   Most of which bounced straight out again.  Tough work for any fwd with that non-effort from the middle.

I doubt that’s what we sold Preuss who could easily get a game elsewhere.

It doesn’t matter who we traded for him. If we didn’t intend to at least give him a go, we should have traded Tyson for something we desperately needed like maybe a small forward or some speed. Or a draft pick from North to package up.

I just don’t understand why absolute spuds keep getting games but a guy we went out and got in a busy trade period last year is playing VFL. At least try him out. See if we can play 2 rucks. Christ it can’t be worse than the current situation where Max gets bruised every week and nobody in our forwardline can take a mark.

Unless he kicks 5 goals the result is still the same.

But I still don’t know why we went out and recruited him when we don’t actually play him? Could have use that pick to get a decent crumber or some outside run instead and gone for another baby giraffe in the draft as ruck backup.

Apart from a couple of good leads from Hunt we continually kicked to unwinnable contests in the forward 50.

Preuss would at least provide (1) a reasonable chance to take a grab (2) or bring to ground - thus providing a crumbing chance (3) take pressure off both Tmac and Max.

And finally, he couldn't make things any [censored] worse

So you expect the coach to come out and back the players for all the world to see? C’mon SWYL. I know you’re frustrated, as well as I am but to suggest that is wrong. How did that serve Neeld?

No doubt that he could be giving them a serve, but that’s behind closed doors. One good thing about Goodwin is that he’s measured and composed in front of the media. But don’t grill players to the media. As soon as you do that, the players will lose respect for him. And I don’t blame them.

This club has shielded players from shiit efforts for years. It clearly doesn’t work.

The Skill level of this club is deplorable, along with Leadership. Nothing to do with injuries.

The MFC jumper is not respected and 50, 000 Members deserve to know why...

We are terrible in every part of the ground except the 5m radius in which Gawn is standing.

We have a lot of frankly VFL footballers playing at either end of the ground too.

Collingwood and the Bulldogs showed in recent years that injuries shouldn't matter if your system and work rate is there. We were okay in 2017 in this respect, but not only are our systems out this year, our work rate at times has been abysmal. The midfield defensive transition is still VFL grade level too.

I'm in the group that says our FD needs a massive shake up, a new head of footy and I wouldn't be against turning over every assistant coach we have.

Rock bottom. Very poor games from: TMac, Jones, Viney, OMac, Fritsch, Spargo, Lockhardt, Oliver, Harmes. Where the hell was Preuss, for starters. Why does our team play 'bombs' when there is so much space to target going forward? Wasted year, wasted game, wasted membership, wasted coaching efforts.

Waste of space

Couldn't even blame the umps for this deplorable performance but as a curiosity how is it that only 4 GWS players gave away a free kick outside of Mumford (who gave away 7)?

That would have to be some kind of record.

With our lack of defence in the forward half and in the midfield, people are kidding themselves if they think things are going to turn significantly by bringing back our 5 best defenders in Jetta, Hibberd, Salem, Lever and May. The defenders barely have chance if the rest of the team don't work hard enough.

More than one man Fire, i believe.

Skills have remained stagnant all year. Basic Skills

Why?

We just don’t have the cattle. No class through the midfield, no midfield depth, no genuine power forwards, no lock down defenders playing today.

We’ve had a lot of players out, and it’s difficult to judge without a full strength side, but I think even with all those ins, we’re at least one dynamic forward, and at least 2 classy midfielders short.

Time for the club to be pragmatic and play the kids. Manage those players with injuries to the point of putting them in cotton wool. There are two standout players in this years draft and second last wouldn't be the worst thing for us.

I hate this thinking as it’s the same thinking that buried us in the mire in the pre Roos days... however I totally agree with you, get anyone into surgery that needs it now, revert to a really simple game plan, and make sure we are giving our young blokes as much opportunity to develop in an environment which nurtures and encourages as much learning as possible.

oh and play Preuss as deep forward every week from now on with Lockhart, Spargo and Fritch playing for the crumb and given license to play their natural game.

Agree

Except for the Spargo bit

And Fritsch needs a few games in the Magoos

Happy to see Baker, Petty, Lockhart, Hore blooded for the rest of the season

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
