Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Why get Preuss to the club.

Would be less painful banging my head against a brick wall than trying to figure out why they haven’t selected Preuss.

FMD.

We needed a backup for Max.

And, after watching WCE win their way to a premiership with two ruckman and the expectation was that the rule changes would favour ruckmen, I reckon we decided to get another.  Other clubs followed and found another ruckman in the rookie or post season sup draft.

As the season progressed and the rule changes had a different impact than expected, playing two ruckmen isn't always viable.  Even WCE have played with one in recent months (except last week).

If we didn't get another ruckman DL would be screaming about it.

Preuss may need to find a few more strings to his bow to get a regular gig.

Agree with you LH - particularly about adding strings to his bow - a full tank would be a good start.

Preuss would have known the score when he crossed - he couldn’t get a gig at North, so no reason to expect he’d get one at the club with the best ruckman in the league - unless circumstances warranted it, or unless Max was injured.

We have a forward line that cannot kick goals this year.

Without Preuss in the side, we have to use Weidemann, Smith or McDonald or Keilty in the ruck for those 10 minutes each quarter that Max requires a rest.  So we are even less likely to score during that time.

Preuss provides a ruck option and a forward option.  And as was seen in those last minutes of the Sydney game, Preuss covers the rucking in one half of the ground and Max sits a kick behind play to repel and defend.  And when he plays in our forward line he takes the opposition biggest defender.

However, if the weather is as forecast, other options need to be considered......  however limited those options are for us with our injuries.

Hence my first line -  'we needed a backup for Max'.

Another ruckman had to be at the top of our recruiting list last year and we did well with Preuss.

I'm reasonably sure we will see Preuss in the Alice next week win or lose this week.

It's a real pity that the weather for Sunday is windy and that Casey plays at the same time as MFC. Weid, Preuss and T Smith are vying for the one maybe two spots in that forward line.

If we had been in some reasonable form perhaps we could have played Preuss this week but as it is GWS will run rings around us speed wise so the selection of a slower player against the smarts and pace of the GWS backline was not a real option.

Hawthorn beat GWS two weeks ago by slowing the game down and using pin point passing. As we did when we beat them last year the Hawks were great at crowding the packs and preventing that accurate handball out the GWS use so well to start their attacks.

To win tomorrow we need to kick accurately and GWS need to miss. Even when we beat them last year in round 23 GWS had 3 relatively easy shots just before half time that would have seen them in front. Instead they missed and we went in at half time with a small buffer. We blew them away in the third and everyone rested in the last.

You make some good points LH but it would be good to see Preuss in the side to work together with Maxy and get the chemistry going.

Who knows it may be a great partnership which we could use more often than not and would make the opposition adjust their plans rather than just us. Look how well it worked against the swans

Could give us a competitive advantage going forward but we won’t know until they play together for an extended period of time

This post represents everything wrong with the faux selection committee on Demonland. Saying “let’s see how this plays out”, immediately *after* drawing a (negative) conclusion.

By the way I’m assuming letting see how it plays out involves crowing about it if we lose and a big apologetic sob story about how you were wrong if we win.

Ok Let me be clear... I would play Pruess Rain, Hail or shine to take some sting out of Mumford! PERIOD!

Wasn't he the traveling emergency, and flew back from Perth overnight to play for Casey. He might've been like me and gone all Mr Crankypants.

Yes... from reports he did fly back just prior to the eagles match,  and probably fairly pizzzed off i imagine.

You don't think We are trying to develop him into a much better player than he is.?  and at the moment he is a very restricted player.?

At least Keilty has saved his spot on our List,  IMO...  shown hes got something.

I honestly have no idea what the FD’s plans are for him. But as an outsider looking in, it looks like they are treating him like Spencer and a “break glass in case of emergency” player.

Not really.  Often the team in that situation becomes determined to remedy the situation.

Losing streaks become that way because of reasons. Usually the side just doesn't play the ground well or doesn't like the ground for some reason.  If it was that easy it wouldn't become a losing streak in the first place.

Of course they didn't play us there for a long time.

We did give them their first win on the MCG... something we have been kind enough to do for many of the expansion clubs

Preuss as a forward target upsets the opposition defence, supporting Max is a bonus

Need the big lug to draw attention away from TMac and allow mid sized forwards to roam. Also lets small forwards feed off

While Tim Smith has been ok at the contest he just doesn't quite give same presence for me

Summed up in three sentences, and like the emphasis of disruption of opposition defenders.

I think we've got a longer term view with him...   what length contract did we give him.?

So I think we have put the job in-front of him,  to work hard,  to really earn his place.

I see him having to build his tank.   So he can improve on his 2018/19  preseason.   And I think he has already improved his fitness over where he was last year...  judging by his body shape.

He has changed a lot,  starting from his work in the USA.

I reckon he'll improve next year,  with another preseason,  and then again,  the year after that.

I think we're looking to be at our top,  in 2021

Weather forecast has been updated and it looks like it’s not going to rain at all during the game or before it. It might be a bit soft after tonight, but basically it’ll be a dry game.

I reckon that is huge for us. The ground won't be soft, not nearly enough rain and the G drains incredibly well.

We are a much better chance if it is dry during the game.

Bring in Preuss if that’s the case.

Its a no brainer.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
