Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If Salem does not get up, then we need a clean ball user to replace him.  Lever might be the best of what we have in the tin, and push Frittata forward.  Prefer him at Casey, though, to get his game awareness back to where it needs to be

You might be thinking other teams that don't bomb it as often as we do R&B.  Pruess playing deep and smalls feeding off him, provided they are going both ways and pressuring on the way out in a major way, is ideal for the way we mostly  bomb it inside.

T-mac pushing higher up creates a bit of extra space for Pruess and the smalls To work in.  Hunt will also have a little more freedom to lead Into.

Tracc also needs to play off a wing and/or partially inside mid and move out of the forward line for things to start working IMO.

Let's face it, the lack of confidence of T-mac and Tracc in front of goal is presently a massive coach and team killer.  Both need to play well up the field amd others with a little more polish left to their own devices to produce a better return on the incredible amount of inside looks we are producing.  Too much waste so far this season on such enormous effort from a very capable mid field (apart from the inside 50 finish which has been mostly deplorable!).

On his own, i agree, Pruess isn't the answer.  It's what you do with the overall structure and method that just might result in a cohesive forward line that finally clicks and sees significant improvement on what we've had.  Any significant improvement on the mess we've seen so far will be a major step forward.

If we keep going with more of the same, against decent opposition, we will get more of the same results ie;  great effort and application but just another L on the board due to our woeful inability to convert.

You're right It all comes down to the right structure, we had that for 3 quarters in Friday, until the injuries. Bombing long to Preuss goes back to the early rounds, it didn't work then and I doubt it'll work against GWS. If tmac goes up field their likely to put tomilison on him allowing their backs to stay together, so Hayes will still kill us.

The only way I see it possible that we play Preuss is if we drop one off the tall defenders and keep tsmith to do that offensive tagging role but then worry about their spread going so tall

FOR THE LOVE IF GOD PICK PREUSS IN THE SENIORS.

Be proactive and make the opposition try and figure out how to deal with 2 massive ruckman/ forwards units.

There is no God.. but I agree Pruessy plays for the rest of the year with one direction

Go do a Mummy anything goes Clearly start to cause MAYHEM!!

Out: 3 x Concussions

The concussions looked fairly minor, so I’d expect a couple of those to get up.

Didnt that bombing work a little against the Swans R&B?

I was with you until that last para ... im not understanding that strat.  Blonde moment!

I like the idea of playing Pruess over Smith personally. Smith didn’t do a whole lot wrong but a massive game from Gawn last week over in the West and with Mumford inevitably going to rough Max up, I like the idea of having Pruess there not only as a tall target to go to up forward (and instruct him that if he’s not marking it must go to ground) and we have someone to chop Max out when needed and he can even go to town on Mumford physically.

I’m really glad to hear they aren’t rushing Lever back and in fact will wait for him to put his name forward.

In: Pruess, Lewis

Out: Smith, Stretch/ANB

out - Fritsch, Smith, ANB

in- Lewis, Preuss, C.Wagner

I think its too much of a risk taking in all 3 blokes who were concussed last week. Salem can stay but the other two are replaceable enough by other players without losing too much.

and Fritsch needs a spell. send him back to Casey to play as a forward, then bring him back in to play as a forward when he regains some touch.

Agree - Max really needs some relief this week. Over the past 2 weeks he has rucked 1 out against Witts up on the Gold Coast and then flown across the country to again ruck 1 out against Vardy/Hickey.

Let's not burn him out before the bye.

The Swans are a pretty ordinary side this year, so I wouldn't take to much notice of them plus they don't have a lot of run out of their back half. GWS does, if we go tall against them up forward they could kill us on the spread because Davis as Hayes can and will run off their man to link up field. We were easy to score against in the early rounds and have fixed that lately but going too tall forward could hurt us again

Fair enough R&B.  You may well be on the money.  Thx for clearing that up.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
