Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

You’re off the mark here. You know what I liked, his teammates weeent concerned about punching on, they were concerned about picking the big fella up. That’s being a team. It’s not the 70s or 80s. They pushed the dumb [censored] Vardy away and helped Max up.

chell who used the words 'punching on'

You, are  the very first person to change the meaning,m  to something else..   in your wards "punching on"

This is not what was meant around this  'passive argument'...   push and shove is not punching on.

Fritta is Not as switched-on,  as he was last year.

Most of our kids who went well last year,  have all fallen of the cliff,  this season.

Fritta I think needs 3 or 4 weeks spell with Casey,  to rediscover the Need to be playing AFL.

Its not just this adzman... the lacking aggression,  and defending our players honour...  not just that.

We have too many players who do not work hard enough generally,  letting others pull up the slack..  It all gets past down the line,  to the next stop.  Passing the Buck...

I'll mention some things in the post match thread.

I reckon Vardy (super [censored]) just wanted to touch Max because it was the first time he had been near him all night.  Absolute dog act and typifies him as a player.  Hang your head you ordinary, ordinary player.

Its linked below.. Max goes back/across with the flight, Liam Ryan takes a big mark on him. Max is down winded Willie Rioli comes and pats him on the head and Nathan Vardy shoves the downed Gawn.

Where the [censored] is our fight? We get walked over time and time again and it never changes. We are no longer a year in year out bottom four side, we have growing members and some darn decent players but things still remain from the past. One of the better ruckman seen for a long time and maybe will go down as the greatest and we just let a pair of soft players who are only known to have played tonight because they are in the footage of a great mark push around and walk over Max Gawn.

That there made me mad, push a player around when he gets out muscled or kicks it out of the full... fine but to let opposition do as they please to your own (downed) teammate is distressing. The message it sends isnt great and i understand not giving a free away or a 50 but he was at the top of the goal square. Stick up for your teammate.

Oscar and Hore give him the P off DH shove and attend to their mate lying on the ground. Correct response IMO. Would you have preferred them to leave Max on the ground and go and start a brawl with some tool who isn’t worth the time and effort?

WTF?  What do you want them to do?  They were recovering from the contest, and you would not have expected the grubs to rub Max’s noses in it.  And what for, not taking a mark?  They didnt take the mark either.

Vardy was OWNED by Gawn.  His is a disgrace of a person for doing that.

Max’s team mates pushed the idiots away, which was all it deserved.  To escalate this would have been a pointless, and probably expensive exercise.  Wanting them to ‘stand up for Max’ is simply stupid.  There were plenty of times throughout the night when players supported each other.

Vardy and Rioli.  We should really cannoned them both. Fuc€>#£n dogs.

In metro footy, vardy would’ve been pummelled.

Caught ball watching in no man's land again.  If he can't play off a wing or HF he needs time at Casey until he has the tank/willingness/ability to close down his opponent when we dont have it.  Its basic defence/team defence and is giving the opp too many easy looks at goal, including this horror bit of play last night.

I cant disagree more Buck.  This is what separates an ok, mediocre or good club from a great club and sets the tone for culture going forward.

There are certain things you just cannot accept in footy and life lying down.  Someone rubbing your nose in it when you are down is one.

It needed a super aggressive response risking potentially weeks out if the game to make a statement that you aren't accepting BS from any [censored] who decides to pull this [censored].

Whether that was a rugby tackle from 10 meters away, grabbing him by the collar and sling tackling him to the ground or putting on a headlock, the statement needed to be made by someone.  WAP from those around!

Agree. Even BT sensed what was going to happen as the ball was making its way down. Fritsch gave Ryan a massive head start and just trailed him. Now we have to put up with seeing and hearing this mark all season.

The mark was taken in the goal square so he’s going to kick it regardless. This is the time to a stand and give away a 50, as the 50 makes no difference. If only Lewis was there to belt someone. The players response was weak and disappointing. Felt so sorry for Max who’d copped a boot in the face and then abused. What are his mates doing?!

Fritsch should be dropped for his pathetic game last night. His work rate and turn overs are momentum killing. That mark and goal is on him. His kicking was beautiful last year. This year it’s been amongst the worst in the league. Massive drop off in form from someone I was hoping would be a real weapon for us this year and beyond.

100% Agree with this take RN.

That should of been a non negotiable moment with 17 blokes letting Vardy know we are not coping that [censored] as a club.  Every chance we would of then gone on & changed the result. Instead the WC arrogance machine just rolled on to a victory they didn’t deserve.

All they did was the softest of fend offs, a couple of them...  to say get off him you thugs.   I would like to see one or two,  scrag them by the collar,  front on,  pushing them make THEM backpedal.

This is another sign of having a dee-fault position of over passiveness...  its an automatic response from our colours...  and this same attitude even when not seen,  is a reflection of our inner conservative state.

We have to get this passive our of our club.

We are too comfortable with being passive, holistically as a club...  from the supporters right thru every part of the club... Inc: song.

We would be healthier as a footy club,  If we were more comfortable being aggressive as a dee-fault position,  and less comfortable in a passive type mood.

Certainly on the weekends and game-days.

There is merit in physically dominating our opponent in general play and also at moments like this we need to be assertive in dealing with behavior such as Vardy's. It's not acceptable to give away a free but we can certainly get up in his face and dare him to back down or escalate.

its about momentum and grabbing the upper hand in a contest.  Do Not let the opposition feel like they can get cheap wins... Mentally.    they have to pay for every inch they take.

"Make them Earn It, the Hard way" ...  have you guys Ever heard of this ????

Jesus christ.. what has this world coming to when this muppet is giving out 1970s life advice on how to be tough.

Oscar and Hore pushed Vardy away while most of their teammates were already up on the CHF area and were probably too far to even see it. It was our captain in Nathan Jones who ran in and actually remonstrated with Vardy.

Vardy is a grub yes but the jumper grabbing and huffing and puffing would have made no difference at all.

Max didn't have an issue with what Vardy did.

A bit has been made of Nathan Vardy’s reaction after that mark. I don’t have a problem with it, but I would like to set the record straight on one thing — I didn’t say anything to Vardy until that moment. Not a single word.

We have to learn to be clever,  about when we really Fly our Flag in their faces physically.  I wish Sheedy was around our club.

I wish we had have hired  Kevin Sheedy,  back in 2007 or 8,  whatever it was then.

......................................................................

That mark over Gawn,  was in they're goal-square...   no damage giving a free away,  or a 50Mtr,   because they would have only got 8 metres anyway... we should have really flown the flag.

Instead I saw our players heads dropping meekly.

But the point is our players in the area were no more than gently assertive,  in politely pushing offending players away from Gawn.  weak it was.   Or should I say Meek.

Gawns a big guy right...  so if HE won't stand up for himself,  then we can't....    Bull Shyzen !!!    Not good enough.

The whole team is letting the whole club down whenh they meekly walk away tails between legs.

Right or Wrong,  is irrelevant...    It's right...  if it's right for  Us.

We play them again in round 18. Guarantee when they run onto the field then they'll be thinking 'we've got these weak [censored]'

Nobody is suggesting a melee, nobody is suggesting a fight. A clear message needed to be sent that we're a team and we'll stand up for our own. FFS I can't believe people can't understand that. Softest supporter base in the comp.

How many went to Jetta after he took Smith out of he game?

[censored] off back to your cheese platter if you're not happy with that. Viney on Rance after the Watts incident seems light years ago.

Was at the game just around from the points  -  Nathan Jones did make the trip in to have a go at Vardy.

Unfortunately nowadays the first priority is for players to worry about their next move and not get caught up in a rabble; esp now with the 666 reset.  Loose heads lose games.

I did think at the time there could have been a more passionate response overall _  I felt like  jumping out of my seat and running down there myself.

There was nothing to defend in the goal square,  and if a push and shove happened in the goal square,  the kick could not be taken.. . The umpires would have rushed in to sort things.

The Perfect time to stand up with a show of Force.

It didn't happen,  mores the pity.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
