Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

What is wrong with the umpire giving a free kick to Lewis Jetta for tackling Tim Smith to the ground( holding the ball.) Umpire calls play on Tim stops Can't here the Maggot Jetta slams Tim to the ground  holding both arms hitting his head first to the ground a dangerous tackle and possibly reportable.    However paid to Jetta   WCE What a Farce and a Disgrace. 15 metre out in front of the goals.

Melbourne free every day of the week.    2 W A maggots  what do you say.  I am hurting.  STAY TUNED.

Ridiculous call. Like I said, that situation happens every game, and the player is NEVER called for holding the ball. Yet ours get's knocked out of the game and pinged.

Just 1 in a long line of umpire howlers.

We should've picked up at least 3 more 50 metre free kicks in that game, but that clearly wasn't 'allowed'

I’m just completely baffled that Hickey was a late in for the Eagles and then he starts at the first centre bounce of the game.

I know Gawn dominated all night, but it was obvious Vardy was never going to go up against Gawn. Gawn would have finished with 70 hit outs.

Preuss should have played, although I did admire Smith’s endeavour tonight.

There was an obvious one in the first qtr where Rioli (also on the McGovern diet) just strolled through the protective area (cause he couldn’t keep up with his man) and yet nothing was paid.

A lot of the protected area 50s are completely pointless with the kicker looking the other way. That one actually got in the way with the kicker looking to go that direction but having to go back the other.

Play on

Hore is a good interceptor, but he's an ordinary kick and a worse decision maker.

What's the basic under 12 rule? Don't kick across goal unless you have an absolutely clear option.

He does this every week. Every second kick seems to be an incredible clanger.

I like the idea of taking the game on with our kicking, but you have to know your limitations and know when the time is right and when a kick is not on.

Tom McDonald isn’t a defender and Petty was very good in his second game.

We really miss Joel Smith, I can live without Weideman who lacks agility.

Preuss, Tim Smith, Joel Smith and Tom McDonald playing up the ground and running more  would be my ideal big forward combination.

I'm not talking permanently down back CB.  It would have worked for tonight (after half time once it was clear he wasn't going to impact) and maybe a week or two until we get Lever/May back in the team.  Tmac isn't kicking goals or clunking marks so it's either down back or he is dropped to try and find some form in the McGoos for Pruess.

Petty in front of Pruess cost us the match in the end (along with some horrid disposal,  simple shots at goal and usual corrupt umpiring out west).  Petty was ok but wasn't the correct selection for this match.

Pruess in would have helped Maxy also.

3 Brownlow votes to me for not throwing a brick through my tele in the last quarter.

Seriously though, where was this footy in Round 1? Let’s bring this level (or better) every week!

Why is everyone going on about Preuss. How would have he helped on a big ground. McGovern would have had a day out against him.

Too tall for McGovern WTM and with all our horrid bombing he gets a run at the ball to at least bring it to ground crashing packs if they're playing in front or marking out the back.  Pruess was a must in for tonight.  BOG according to many last week against top of the ladder Essendrug.

We'll agree to disagree.

Perhaps because the only trick we know is to bomb high and long? At the very least a giant at FF would've made all their defenders more accountable.

How many intercept marks did they pull in? Does that happen if they're forced to be more accountable and man Preuss? What if he takes a few grabs early and they have to double team him?

The single worst missed umpiring decision of the game wasn’t even the throw ornthe smith tackle. It was the fly by Kennedy when he went early drove a knee into McDonald (May have been Petty) lept on his back and didn’t touch the ball, taking the Melbourne defender completely out of the contest. It was not a realistic attempt. It was early. He was more concerned about kneeing his opponent than marking the ball. The Melbourne player is down , no call and he floats inside 50 takes and mark and goals. What a disgrace.

Good call. Would love to see something like this to make the umpires and the game honest.

However cant see it happening without it slowing the game up and we all know the afl’s thoughts on slow play......

The last week has proven that they can’t/won’t own their failings, so we need the media to step up and take them on. The questioning of bias toward teams, star player, etc. needs to be done in the public forum, not behind closed doors or secret coffee meetings or letters to HQ as we the fans deserve answers and respect ✊? ✊? ✊?

Also it would become a tactic to stop play and allow the defence to reset.  A quick-thinking captain could spot a fast break about to happen and burn an appeal to stop the game.

Nothing is a disgrace in the umpires eyes out west LC if it results in a WC win.  The record free kick differential out west has been going on for a decade now and shows no sign of easing up.  It is clearly corrupted and the AFL apparently happy for it to continue.

No wonder they are regular finals contenders.  Their home games are almost always a lock win unless the opposition has a fabulous day out.

On the flip side it is no coincidence they have such a poor record away.  No extra men on the field!!

In the last quarter a bunch but we played McGovern beautifully until then and not many of them that a player like Preuss would have impacted. Our game plan and selecion was fine, we just missed simple goals, nothing to do with selection.

NO EVERYTHING TO DO WITH IT, PRUESS would have commnded an extra tall and could have assisted Max who was heroic but could not do Ruck, play defensive sweeper and play forward. Blunder!

Really proud of how the injury depleted demons competed tonight even though they didn't get the chocolates. Can't stand Petracca can't kick can't mark 2 things you need that he hasn't got. TRADE HIM

But it's a team game and Vardy's team won. I hated that nobody stood up for Gawn, AGAIN! The mark is in the goal square, give away the 50 to make the point and watch the team walk taller.

Exactly what i thought FIB....No one flew the flag.  At the very least someone shouldve grabbed Vardy and thrown him into the turf !!!  Weak as [censored] from the defenders around him.

Momentum Killer TRADE OUT!!!

Still a basketballer trying his best to play footy IMO.  Shows promise and glimpses but if you can't kick the simple goals or play the percentages often enough then you are effectively wasted as a forward and shouldn't play there.

Play the season out as an inside / outside mid replacing Jones who takes over Tracc's present role up forward.  If Tracc cant get it going and/or start hitting the scoreboard more often (assuming Goody refuses to recognise Tracc forward is a fail!) then subject to a decent trade deal, i would have to agree.  Time to get some decent value while it's still potentially there.

8 frees to 1 last quarter to Eagles. Oh yeah.

8 frees to 1 to WC when WC on top, previous to that 21 frees to 13 to MFC when M on top. Paying the team that is playing in front/doing the tackling/playing the ball etc. All this whingeing about the umpires, and MFC won the free kick count (22-21). Hate to see the rage if the umpires actually favoured the opposition.

They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
