Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Casey Demons v Port Melbourne - Round 7

LANDSLIDE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons enjoyed the better of their first half against Port Melbourne on Saturday but fell away badly after half time to lose by 43 points.

The Borough enjoyed the early break with the game’s opening two goals but the Demons took control to go out to an 8 point lead at quarter time, an advantage that it held for most of the second term until a late goal to the visitors clawed the lead back to a point.

The Casey ruck of Braydon Preuss and Liam Wale-Buxton were on top for most of the day and they fed their midfields well, especially in the first half.

The change in the third quarter was devastating to the Demons who simply struggled to find the big sticks while Port could not miss. Their key forward in Jordan Lisle was outstanding pulling down marks and booting six for the day. Lisle kicked the first goal of the game in the opening minute but was well held until just before half time. He was too strong in the last half with four goals.

The Borough’s accuracy in front of goal after the main break ultimately resulted in a landslide victory against a tired and depleted Demons.

James Munro (29 touches, 18 tackles) and Corey Wagner (23 disposals, 9 tackles) were outstanding and played their hearts out for the losing team while Tom Sparrow continued to show promise in the midfield.

Jake Lever got through his first game after his ACL injury and showed patches of his defensive brilliance in limited time on the ground.

Casey takes on Williamstown away from home next Sunday and must win to keep their finals hopes alive.

Spargo did not look close to making the 22 prior to injury and couldn't get a kick at vfl level. He is too small and slow to make the cut. fritsch is a depth player, too skinny and poor footskills, Lockhart depth but likely prospect and hannan yes he has been a good pick up. But the amount of stuff ups is extrodinary

In a single sentence you have gone a long way to explaining one of the fundemental problems with the club's performance- the easy picks - not the best.

Lever. Quiet but can see he reads the play better than most. Was a General down back. I think he played close to 3/4 of game. Would leave him at Casey until after the bye.

I like your thinking. I would Not play him up in Darwin. Nor the QB game.

Let him come back in for a regulur day game,  where he doesn't have to do any super human feats in his 1st game back.

That is about the level of this comment Stormy.

Give Jake your support you have obviously forgotten his ability and team ethos in defence and will be back bigger and better than ever ASAP.

He’s had a whole year off to prepare for a return in a much lower level game. He did next to nothing in that game. Very disappointing.

I doubt the coaching staff were hoping for much more than get through the game unscathed and build up through the weeks. It takes time getting confidence back in your body, and picking up the speed of the game (regardless of the level) takes time as well.

And for the record he hasn’t had a whole year off to prepare for his return, he has had a year off INJURED.

3 months INJURED. 9 months of rehab. Plenty of time.

Reading that I thought you had to be a troll, I've actually had a quick look through your postings and it really doesn't look like it. I've done a knee, and you are so off the mark it's laughable so instead of scalding you how about I break things down for you.

Recovery isn't just the injury itself, particularly with structural injuries like knees. A closer mark would be 6-9 months is what it takes for the knee to "heal", but that doesn't take into account the conditioning your body and in particular that leg loses. The rehab isn't a constant upward trend either, you have setbacks (and I'm 99% sure Jake had one around December that required surgery) and when you have setbacks it really slows you down. Then when you do get the all clear to start loading again you can't go all guns blazing because your muscles aren't used to it, you also have to be careful that you're not overloading one leg over the other, it's not uncommon for people to do their other knee following a return. Then you have to get confidence in your body that it isn't going to break down again, whether that's the knees or the muscles surrounding it. Then he has to return to the game, get back his natural skills, and get a feel for the pace of the game. You try doing something and then returning a year later and see if you are able to jump straight in with no problems. All that is putting aside the psychological side that plays on your mind of "will it all be ok?"

Bottom line is I'm just stoked for him that he got through the game unscathed and he will go next week with more confidence.

I’m way more aware of all of this than you could or will ever know. But what you say is largely nonsense. The ligaments and capsule of the knee are fully healed at three months. Then there’s some rehabilitation to strengthen the surrounding musculature and re-educate the nervous system including the brain to run properly with the new knee. It’s pretty simple.

SD you must have sportsmen knocking your door down to achieve such miraculous results. Don’t know how you even have the time to post on here.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
