Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Well that got out of hand.. so Lever got through, any idea of total game time? Feeling on AFL return date?

Id peg him for Adelaide or Collingwood for a return game.

Very flat from time on in 3rd quarter.

Swallow was okay. Got hands on it a bit but not much done with it.

Wagner got heaps of ball and was bought down nearly every time. Port are quite quick.

Maynard battled hard.

Jordan. Hardly saw him

Chandler. As above.

Pruess. Good early then fazed into some frosty moments. Umpires did not vote for him today.

Lever. Quiet but can see he reads the play better than most. Was a General down back. I think he played close to 3/4 of game. Would leave him at Casey until after the bye.

I was also at Casey heavily disguised in case Dazzle man noticed me and wanted to "Chew the Fat"

Agree Lever looked rusty but confident on his knee and did a few good things.

He does look fit and wasn't blowing greatly on managed time. I also noticed him in the dugout playing coach and barking some instructions on the side.

Will MFC take the risk and play him next week??

I tend to agree with Dazzle on this one

Other comments

LEFAU NO 79 Gee liked the look of him a New Zealander reminded me of the way Goodes played

Tall good turn of speed, Goal sense, a touch of the unpredictable an example... At one stage in first quarter in traffic gathered the ball baulked , then blind turned and delivered goalward!! Plays tall !

Unless we have someone well and truly in the frame for mid season draft gee this guy has a lot of upside!

Other points

Pruess is far too good at this level and the benefits of playing him with Max then is depending on game it alows Max to fill a hole up back or play tall up forward.

Corey Wagner also did some nice things

Dazzle .. what was your perspective on LEFAU??

Sparrow: Really just didn't stand out for me. Get in and has a crack but has no hurt factor.

Pruess: he was our best player for the day behind Wagner. Controlled the ruck but our mids didn't make the most of his silver service. Umpires had it in for him all day.

Lever: started like a house on fire when he came on in the first qtr but was quiet for the resy of the game. Coaches would have just been thrilled that he actually got through hos first game. Will get better with more game time next week.

Chandler: Barely noticed him. Kicked a ripping goal though.

Bedford: flashes in and out. Development year for him. Good to see him hit the scoreboard at least. That will get his confidence up and going.

Jordan: like Bedford its a development year for him. Barely noticed him except when he turned it over in the 3rd qtr.

Maynard: Does what he needs to at this level. But he will be delisted at years end. Just doesnt havent enough tricks to take that to AFL level. Good on him though for sticking up for Chandler when he got stomped on!

Wagner: Liked his game, has a good burst of speed from stoppages and was clean throughout the day. Expect him to play next week if ANB doesn't come up from that concussion.

Casey have some very ordinary VFL players. White, Munro, Dipasqual, Briggs Quigley, Stockdale are just example of the gap between ours and Port Melbournes.

Mitch White as captain is puzzling..

Lafua is a very interesting prospect though. Love the look of him.

Today was my first look at Casey this year. Our injury list and the clean out at the end of last year made it look like a totally different team. Lever started off well with a strong mark and reading the play, I'd say he will get better week by week. Also well done to the Casey  women's team who looked a lot better than last year.

The stand alone clubs will always have better across the board talent. The AFL aligned clubs make up for it with their AFL listed players but when you have injuries at the MFC level it becomes tough.

Jordan is a baffling draft choice, Maynard should have been let go years ago. Chandler too small. Wagner isn't AFL standard. Gee our lack of depth concerns me. Preuss should be in the AFL team

I don't think he's amid 'dazzle'...doesn't find the ball enough but has enough to be tried as a small defender.

Lack of depth!!!???

We had a moral victory against the premiers , over there, despite hostile umpiring, and 8 - 10 of our best 22 unavailable.

I think that suggests our depth is surprisingly good.

Oh, it's too soon to say any of that...  way too soon.

He is just getting used to VFL footy.

Next season will show-out where he needs to be,  and how he will develop...  one thing looks certain, is that he seems to have the presence for AFL.

Need more from Bedford and Chandler.   Yes I know they are first year teenagers, but they both have some real talent that should be showing through at VFL level.

I swear the MFC is a graveyard for small forwards.

Bedford had a good patch in the 2rd qtr where he cracked in and showed some real speed and evasiveness.

But yes do see where you're coming from. Going to give them the benefit of doubt that when we start to get senior players back into our Casey team from injures, we might start to see a bit more of a rounded performance as they'll know their teammates better then half these VFL guys that are making up majority of our team.

Thats true.   They will find things a lot easier when we get players back.

I know this is the role he has played when in the seniors, but if anb gets up, I'd be looking at garlett out wagner in. While garlett does create opportunities it seems he fluffs most up, also fluffs up the standard stuff now, if it were lockhart or another young kid i would give more time, but he's no kid, and would prefer the standard stuff someone else will provide

The kids are very slight and shouldn’t be expected to be dominating or being relied on 10 games into their 1st season.

A moral Victory is not enough mate, Collingwood made the grand final last year with half the team out. The reality is none of our depth players stand out and all the kids we have drafted in the past 3 years bar hore look like making the cut

Maynard should have been let go years ago??! The bloke has been in the system for 4 years and came from playing basketball.

We have 15 on our injury list which shows our depth is very good.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
