Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Agree on Preuss

Yep can't wait my youngest pulled a gig in halftime of the little league, so once he gets through school unscathed tomorrow will be great

Scrapping the barrel here I fear. Neither Oscar or Harrison have done enough consistently at VFL level to warrant a call up. But these are desperate times so let’s hope they put in blinders or at least contribute.

I agree, but also they have a better form line than our other recent debutant who came up to play. They both have traits that can translate to AFL level, but definitely wouldn’t be getting a game if we were not in the situation we are in.

I’d say one of the backs will play forward and tag J McGovern

Melksham has played this role before, I’m thinking they might play Petracca there. Hope he neutralises the air and beats him at ground level. His season has been significantly underrated by what he has brought in our fwd 50. Minus a few sketchy set shots

What happened last time we played em with one ruck!!!!!!

FMD some of these selections do my head in.

Maybe if you checked the Eagles' current ruck stocks it wouldn't.

We play better with him in the side imo. Gives us something different up forward and big support for Gawn. He is in our best 22.

Fully agreed. He rucks well, can mark, can clear packs, can shuffle opponents out of the way, can kick goals. He is slow, but there are compensations. He also turned up for work earlier in the year.

We don’t always have to look at what the opposition are doing in the way of team selections.

We can make our own moves and make them more accountable and be proactive rather than reactive.

Preuss gives us something extra which is what we need regardless of what the opposition are doing.

Like i said earlier we are a better team with him in the side.

One swallow does not make a spring.

Preuss would get killed by McGovern and co intercept marking, and offer little in terms of defensive pressure to limit the WC rebound.

Absolutely, this was my guess as to why Preuss wasn’t named in the starting 22.

Agree.

And on a slippery night he would struggle to mark and offer little once the ball hit the deck. No doubt this was factor in why WC did not go with a second ruck.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers was a US band from the mid-1970s onwards and Ginger Baker was a drummer with the band Cream which he formed in 1966 with Eric Clapton and Jack Bruce. Cream is generally considered to be the first successful music "supergroup".

I original thought Pruess would come in to stretch there defense especially with no Barass but after he wasn't included I've come to the thought we might play a bit of the Port game plan that worked so well against WCE a few weeks ago.

T.Smith to go to McGovern and tag him. TMac to play deep on Schofild which on paper is in Melb favor. The key is not to bomb the ball long down the line so McGovern cant intercept mark it and start there scoring chains. Port kicked dirty/scrappy ball forward and won the ground balls inside 50. Thats where Hunt, ANB, Lockart, Trac and Baker comes into it.

Preuss is stuffed once the ball hits the ground hence he hasn't been picked.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
