Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Changes vs West Coast

Totally agree chook. Oscar just doesn't man up and keep his opponent accountable.

He completely missed 3 spoils tonight.

Needs to go back to vfl and find his form.

West Coast will monster him if he plays.

They will definitely look to go through whoever is playing on O-Mac.  The trouble is who takes his role?  Petty is not yet up to the heat that WC will bring this week.

You can play T-mac there but robbing Peter to pay Paul.  Lose roughly 3 potential goals up forward.

Personally i would start with the following forward line..

Gus/Chunk  Pruess Jeffy

Lockhart  T-Smith  Melk (if fit)

Brayshaw/chunk up forward (sharing a partial mid role also).

Tracc plays a mostly mid role to cover for Gus mostly forward.  Time for Tracc to step up in a major mid role pushing forward.  More shots from 50ish would be handy.  Horrible at anything around 30 to 40 out so no point playing a HF role.

ANB (sharing the role a little with Clarry) plays the Hibb role.

T-Mac back (O-Mac omitted) to START the game.  If that's not working by half time then Bull might need to swap roles with Tommy.

Let's face it, it's gonna be a tough ask no matter given our injuries so we need to roll the die on a few change ups here and hope that the smalls (Jeffy especially) can work off Pruess and Bull to begin with.  Jeffy needing a solid block of games, starting this week, to justify his spot.  Did a few good things last week but generally ordinary so far.

Yep agree. With us losing more defenders and the two best players in the VFL being forwards (Preuss and Smith), someone has to roll back.

Tmac is the likely candidate.

It's not like our forward line functioned well last night. Might as well change it up.

Can Bull go back to take a role?

Similar size too Darling.

He has done some midfield time at Casey, so should have the tank to run with him.

Be better to have trialed it at Casey but we don't have many options.

Just a thought...

Omcd on either Kennedy or Darling.  Omcd continues to be embarrassing week after week. Terrible yesterday.  Didn’t man up.  Weak attempts at spoils.  Being gifted games again.

Must go out.  Keilty to move back to partner Frost in key spots.

Like to see Baker in this week for his pace

Out Billy the Butcher in Baker

Out Keilty in Pruess

Out Hibberd- in Smith

Lewis to half forward

No certainty with Melk also. Talked to him after game and asked how is foot is and he said 50/50. Not sure. Can only hope he comes up for us with Lewis and only Hibberd out injured. Looks like Pruess and Smith played well at Casey so I would put both in for Hibberd and unfortunately Keilty who just not appear to be up to AFL standard just yet. Give him time though as I think he will be a player for us. Just not now

Think we need to tag McGovern or at least ensure he can't go at any contests without a man. If Melksham doesn't come up I reckon we bring in tsmith just for that role. Collins killed us and he's a quarter of the player McGovern is. Was Spargo injured or was he taken as an emergency as well, well need some run over there, both with the wider ground and off a 6 day break.

Out: hibbo, Lewis, garlett and melk

In: tsmith, ANB, Preuss and Spargo

We need a bit of zip in our backline this week , so I would move Hunt and Lockhart to replace Hibberd injured and Lewis rested. I would then bring in Preuss and Smith for marking power in the forward line and give Petty a go for Kielty in case we need to rejig Hunt up forward and Petty back.

Tim Smith was the only player that even looked like taking a contested mark against Richmond

Hibberd out really hurts. He hadn’t reached the heights of previous years, but he’s a very smart defender who knows when to peel off to help. With Jetta out, we’re left with OMac and Frost as the defensive brains trust. That’s terrifying; I’d be tempted to pick Petty just to be sure the Hibberd replacement has defensive experience, otherwise we’re in to the makeshift group like Fritsch. Alternatively we could pick Smith and move Keilty down there, he has played as a defender for Casey, even if not recently. Smith was good against Richmond and had a good game for Casey yesterday by the sounds.

Preuss is a no-brainer for mine.

I’m assuming Melksham will play, only because the alternative is unpalatable. Another top 10 player out to replaced by the 35th best player would not be good news. Not fussed one way or the other about Lewis.

The start of what could be a horror four weeks for our boys and now without Hibberd and possibly Lewis and Melky.

West Coast's bigs were one of the reasons why we recruited Preuss, so if we don't play him, Goody needs an inquisition. Yes they got rid of Lycett and have lost Tom Hickey, although he may be ready for a recall, but they still have Vardy and young Allen. The Eagles also have bigs Kennedy and Darling along with Gov, so we will be killed in the air with a small side.

Any chance we have must be to stretch their defence which is still missing Barrass, so Tim Smith also has to play, that's a given. He did well against the Tigers before injury and is coming off a game in the VFL that we rarely see.

It could also be time to blood Oskar Baker, yes I know his disposal is not always great, but we need to know if he can step up a level in the seniors before we decide to delist him. He's an everyready battery, so maybe it's time to send either Billy or Angus back to half-back to provide some clean ball down the right-hand side from defence. Cripps has been damaging anyway, so he needs a strict player like Billy or Angus.

Then there's the elephant in the room - what to do with O-Mac again. What are we up to now - 65 games and counting! Surely it's time to send him back to the VFL and see if we can turn him into the forward we recruited him as.

But with Darling, Kennedy and their resting ruckman, we will need one more tall back there. If it were up to me I'd send Keilty back there and see if he can cope with that role at AFL level, but i'm just as happy if Goody decides to give Petty a chance in that role. But most likely Goody will play O.Mac again and we will all cringe.

So I have four outs and four ins with Baker to miss if Lewis or Melky pass their fitness tests.

In: Preuss, T.Smith, ANB, Baker

Out: Hibberd, Lewis, Melky (all in), O.Mac

B:  Salem (Ryan/Petro) Frost (Kennedy) Keilty/Petty (resting ruck - Allen or Hickey)

HB: Billy (Cripps) Fritsch (Darling) Hore (Venables)

C Brayshaw Harmes (Shuey) Viney (Gaff)

HF: Trac T.Mac T.Smith

F: Garlett Hunt Preuss

R: Gawn Oliver (Yeo will go to him) Jones (Sheed/Redden)

Int: Baker, ANB, Lockhart, J.Wagner

As the pins stand at the end of the alley-way, I am pretty sure that this would be the best we could do as a team against West Coast.

When we do finally get some players back we need to rejig

Players who can hit targets inside 50.

Lewis to h/f ,Salem to a wing ,Fritz to a wing. KK/Nev HB Hibberd-HB, Lever CHb, May FB, Frost/Wagner BP,  Hore BP.

Looks like we are liable to loose two Backman. Of the MFC players at Casey the only one would be Petty and will he was ok at windy Hill,  he did not put on a display that looked like it was AFL standard. Expect some gap filling in the back line. Smith should play along with the giant. Baker played ok but not a pick me game IMO.

Right, move the forward who kicked 40% of our goals. Makes sense.

Yes...  but probably not as well as Keilty.  The best replacement tall is TMc for CHB,  to stop eagles forward thrusts.

With Hibbo out,  and Lewis injured,  experience is required,  to maintain composure.

Agree Old dee. The only one who had a pick me game was Preuss but as posted elsewhere Essendon were very short of talls.

If Weideman is fit I would play him and Preuss up forward allowing T Mac to go back. Let's be honest we stand no chance against the Eagles unless we think out of the square. Even then we would need a miracle.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
